Thanks for kicking the thread off - a great many of us have been able to discuss the problems with the 1.5tsi and learn from one another on these pages. My Karoq was from the same era as yours; it displayed both the killer hesitancy and the 1st gear kangarooing - the former being sorted by the update, and the latter more or less sorted. Fortunately, most of my driving is on open roads, with little town driving - hence the car's behaviour is, for me, quite tolerable. As you say, 'there is so much to like about the car'  - which is fortunate because I didn't do a PCP deal and will probably be living with it into the foreseeable future.

Good luck with your next car; please come back onto this thread and let us know what you chose. It isn't easy at the moment with so many changes going on with car requirements; a friend has just 'done the right thing' and bought a Kia e-Niro, but he is experiencing problems on a par with our 1.5 Karoqs. He is now looking at the mechanism for rejecting it.

Thank you for the reply. I went back to what I now. I’ve got a 2017 CRV diesel. It doesn’t have all the gadgets my Karoq  had but it pulls away smoothly every time.

  2. I started this thread 3 years ago after delivery of my Karoq. Next week I say goodbye to it as my PCH has come to an end. I'm really sad that I had the issues I did, as there is so much to like about the car. Will I miss the car? No! Maybe my experience would have been more positive if I had had a car with a diesel engine or a later 1.5 model. The engine had it's software update but although it helped, it didn't completely sort the car. My next car is not a Skoda.Thank you to all of you for commenting on this thread over the last 3 years.

Well...they knew of the issue back wit the MY18 models, so I don't think that is a cause for them to stop producing MY20's if they still have the issue.

I picked my car with a certain spec, and I don't want to just get an ex-demo which doesn't have the things I picked like heated windscreen, canton sound and ACC!

My car is a week 4 build but I've not heard from Skoda UK yet so I'm guessing the latest update isn't for my 1.5 engine. I considered rejecting mine but I'm in the same position as @kerbero5 as I have a car with options that I chose and I wouldn't get those again unless I could get a brand new car.

@dnzbdr in general yes, but 4x4 versions have different ones

@Janner74 if you ask about Karoq, so yes, currently only Skoda have available update version 05E906018P_9752 for your Karoq without OPF, likely first test drivers for VAG group ...

@kifir It is usual that new firmware update changes the hardware version too, so trust them, your ECU is SW updated and its HW number was changed too, from A to BH suffix.

Thank you @rayx. It is for a Karoq. That is great news. I'll phone my dealership today.

I don't understand why some cars owners claim to have the problem and some don't. Surely all the cars should have it, whats the difference?

When I spoke to Skoda UK recently they said that they were finding it hard to find a solution as the issue doesn't affect all the 1.5 engines even if they were build around the same time.

Will stay on for 30 minutes until going into power save mode with no ignition switched on.

I do you use this feature but what I'm trying to stop is when you've had the engine running, you switch off, get out of the car and it goes off. If I've just popped back into the house I have to restart it all again.

  7. I spoke to Paul at Skoda UK today. They were really helpful. They told me that the kangerooing and lack of power in 2nd is a known issue and Skoda are working on a fix for all versions. I mentioned that I was waiting for the update (week 4 build) and he said that an update was coming. He did say that it was a strange issue as it doesn't affect all the 1.5 engines and they're trying to pinpoint which ones. Paul did say he would phone me with an update every 3 weeks.

Hello, got my new Karoq one week go and immediately noticed that on the FM band and even on internet radio through my phone, that the sound goes down for 1 or 2 second then up again. This happens randomly, can be after 5 minutes or 15 minutes and on any station. Also noticed that no AM band is available. Can this be enabled (I am in Belgium)?

Have you experienced this sound issue?

     Thx.

Mine does the same. I only have 1 USB socket as well.

I think you said your car was built in January 2018?  The updates released are only for MY19 cars (in other words cars built in the factory after August 2018).  I would suggest that you tell your dealer that you are aware of this and ask them to find out when the update for earlier years will be released.

(My opinion only, but I am not sure a text message will convey fully the strength of your obvious unhappiness about this situation.)

I only became aware that the update was only available for MY2019 cars after the service but I did ask them to let me know if and when an update for MY2018 cars does become available. My frustration was with the fact they denied any knowledge of the problem and an update for any models. I've started with a text but have asked for an emailed response. If I don't hear anything back then I'll email them and copy in Skoda UK.

  10. I had a courtesy text from my dealership asking about my experience of having my car serviced with them. I replied with my frustration about how they denied all knowledge of any fault or update. I shall await their reply.

I've just received a phonecall from Skoda UK and one of the points discussed was that the "update" was now available for my Karoq.

It will be interesting to hear if you are noticing an all-round improvement with your Karoq post "update".

    When was your Karoq built?

Well, I would recommend to change your dealer, they do not know what they are doing ...

Just checked again on erWin, Skoda released yesterday new data block dated 9th April, updates for Superb ECU 05E906018C and Karoq ECU 05E906018R still there, files dated 11th April, nothing is withdrawn ...

Can anyone log in to erwin?

Kangarooing on first and second gear.

Really? Has anyone else found this? How does it affect the pulling away? I notice the kangerooing is less with the air-con switched off but I know why that is. I'll give it a try though. 1st service tomorrow but it doesn't look like a fix is available for my karoq as its before the dpf filter was installed.

Hi guys had same problem. I did turn off the "front assist" and the problem is solved. It drives like dream now.

What problem does turning off the 'front assist' solve? Have I missed something?

Could you give more information of where did you get this info?

The last update here is that a fix was "released" (!?) and withdrawn right after.

Is this a new fix available? And where did you get reports that it works?

  16. I started this thread just over a year ago and finally it looks like a software update is starting to be installed and having a positive effect. My car is in for its 1st service on Friday (12th April) so hopefully the update will be installed. I'll update the thread when it's done. Has anyone else had the update? Has it worked? I saw another thread where it looks like it has.

  17. Not sure if this is an indication of a fix on the way but I watched a review of the new  VW T-cross and the reviewer said that at launch it will have the 1.0L engine and a diesel. The 1.5L engine will be available later in the year. Does this suggest that they are waiting to fix the fault before the offer the car with the engine? I can't see why they wouldn't put it in the car from launch when the engine is already available in other cars. Thoughts?

Anybody else had a reply ?

I emailed but haven't heard anything back from them. I'd be only too willing to tell them my story

I got a reply from DVSA, Interesting that "the media" are beginning to sit up and take notice now. Perhaps VWAG will now do something.

No. I messaged them too but through the website.
