  1. I drive around 300 miles per week, my journey to work is 30 miles up the motorway. Every now and then I give it a run in 4th gear. There is no one I know locally with the same car unfortunately so I don't think I can compare. When I pull away just using the clutch the revs spike up to prevent stalling but as soon as you touch the throttle and bring the clutch up all the revs just fall away. I have tried to bring the clutch up slower which does help but it still feels like I have to kind of slip the clutch to prevent it stalling. It just feels like it don't have enough power to get itself going properly if that makes sense. I wonder if I have some sort of boost leak but then I would see smoke wouldn't I?
  2. Hi all. I have asked this before and I'm still experiencing the same issue. I have a 2.0tdi 190, manual transmission. It's a 2016 with 157000 miles on the clock. It's been regularly serviced up until recently by Skoda, now by a local garage. I've owned it since 26000 miles. There is no smoke, no dashboard lights, it starts and runs fine. However until the turbo kicks in it feels odd, particularly on pull away. It just feels weak. Pulling away i can do on the clutch alone fine, but if I use the throttle the revs all drop as I bring the clutch up and the car feels like it would stall, so I have to dip the clutch and then bring it back up at which point it will go as it's rolling. It's even worse when on a hill or towing our caravan. I had a new clutch and flywheel fitted in April which hasn't really made any difference to my problem. I noticed if I have it set on sport mode it feels more responsive when pulling away, but still have this issue with it feeling like it wants to stall. so I'm wondering if somehow it's a mapping or throttle issue. I've attached a photo of my dpf values from recently. I don't think there is anything too much wrong. It regenerates I guess around every 150 miles or so and the ash residue is at 72%. Im just wondering if somewhere it's a bit clogged up. I'm reluctant to put it into a garage as I can only assume as there are no codes, diagnostics is going to be costly. I just wondered if anyone had similar experience and found a fix or where anyone technically minded had any thoughts. Thanks. Adrian.
  3. Just serviced my 2.0tdi superb. 155000 miles. Did oil and oil filter, air filter and pollen filter. Parts cost me 75 quid for Castrol oil and Bosch filters, took an hour and a half. Just looked up how much that would cost at a local garage and it's 280 quid, they do things like check battery health and other bits and bobs. But that's mental. I'm not mechanic but it was very simple really.
  4. Tow bar company said the installation was fine, no issues. It's a 2020 car so don't believe we'd have problems with the coding. We travelled just over 300 miles yesterday without any repeat errors. Only difference was I left the cruise control turned off. So we will see what happens. Towed well, very stable. Petrol was 21mpg across the 300 miles so we did have to stop to top up. It could use a larger fuel tank!!!
  5. This car has only pulled this caravan twice before. They were only short trips around 15 miles each. We just had the tow bar fitted about 4 weeks ago. We did not see the errors again upon leaving the ferry to our overnight stop. So we will see what happens today.
  6. I was trying to upload some photos of all the errors but they won't upload. I've looked at the pins on the caravan plug and whilst I wouldn't say they were pristine there's no obvious dirt or rust. I gave it a blow out and I guess we'll see what happens. Can't see any signs of damage to the plug cable.
  7. Just got to Newhaven docks and on the way down I got a load of error messages around brakes on the dashboard of the car. Brakes worked ok so carried on. When we got to the docks I, turned off the car and started it again and still had lights. Once we got through passports i disconnected and reconnected the caravan electrics and the lights have gone. What could the issue be? Have had the caravan serviced in June and it was given a clean bill of health.
  8. I have a manual 190tdi 2016 model and I bought it and found out there was a detachable westfalia towbar. So I have been using it to tow a caravan this past year and haven't had any overheating issues. I assume mine don't have any additional cooling fitted. Furthest I've towed is 240 miles to north Devon and on the return home we went straight through without stopping and had no cooling issues. The bit I don't get is on the vin plate of the car it gives you the 2 weights and you can work out what the car can pull. Surely it should be able to pull that without further modification. What is the point of stating a car can pull 2000kg if it can't without being modified? And where would an auxiliary cooling fan go. The engine bay of my 190 is pretty filled up already. Or would the remove the existing fan and fit something else?
  9. Latch has failed and needs replacing. Awaiting authorisation from the Skoda warranty people then they will order the parts.
  10. Got the car back from Skoda. They had it over the weekend. Tested the battery and checked it's health and they say everything is ok. They charged it fully over the weekend and we're happy with it. They saw all the codes and reset them, none returned. Said to keep an eye on it. So we will see how we go I guess. It has been fine since the issue occured.
  11. Another Tuesday another issue. So today our boot lid has decided it doesn't want to open anymore. Was fine this morning as I had to empty the boot as we were having a tow bar fitted. Was fine after I collected the car from the tow bar people as they went through everything with me. When I got it home I opened it to take out the box section they removed to fit the tow bar and it worked fine. Came home from picking my son up from school and went to put some bits back in and nothing. It makes the sound the the switch or actuator is moving but won't open. The dash thinks it's open but it's still latched. Had to use a screwdriver in that little hole in the back of the boot lid. Tried lubricating the latch and made no difference. It's going into Skoda Friday anyway to look at this battery issue so they can look at this too.
  12. When I get it to the dealership next Friday I'll see what they say and update.
  13. I checked the battery with my meter last night after it had been sitting for a couple of hours, and it read as 12.7V, which was 10pm. I've just been out and read it again, and it's dropped to 12.54V. So it either is capable of holding a full charge or something is drawing power out of it. Its a stock car no dash cams or anything. all doors closed, lights off windows closed.
  14. I haven't been able to leave it on long enough to get it full. It needs to be used pretty much everyday.
  15. No nothing has been added to the car since we bought it. Car has started fine every time since that one occasion on Tuesday. It was 34c temperature on Tuesday. Just very odd. I'm hoping it's a duff battery that just needs replacing. The only other thing I can think of is maybe my wife didn't close a door fully or something like that. But she does not recall. I have a multi meter. The reading was taken after she got home. But I understand it should really be left half an HR or so to get a true resting voltage.
  16. I've not reset any of the codes and I've been putting a charger on it each night. So yes, will wait to see what the dealership says next Friday.
  17. Hi all. 3 weeks ago we bought a 20 plate Karoq from our local Skoda dealer and it's been running fine. My wife went to start it to come home from work and it wouldn't start. She said it said something like unable to start due to insufficient 12v charge. Luckily another lady had one of those jump pack things and it fired straight up. Cruise control is not working currently. So I assume we have a poorly battery. I checked it when she got home and it read 12.8v and it's currently on charge. I put my obd reader on it and it has 22 fault codes. It's booked into Skoda for next Friday.
  18. Good advice. I'm sure it's fine. Just getting used to it I guess.
  19. It's been 25c here today and the car is silver. It does have some sort of insulation on the underside of the bonnet yes.
  20. Hi all. We recently bought a 20 plate 2.0 tsi 4x4. The car seems to run fine and the needle stays stable in the middle of the dial. However, the engine seems to get very hot. Like if you put your hand on the engine cover it's uncomfortable hot. Is this normal for these engines?
  21. For a caravan these days ours is not actually that big. It's a 4 birth single axle. Its 2.3m wide and about 7 m long. So you get about 330miles per tank when towing. That's pretty reasonable.
  22. We've just bought one of these to pull out touring caravan which is roughly the same weight when loaded. So this is good to hear. What sort of range do you get from a tank of fuel?
  23. I'll ask about the haldex. The dsg box I'll see if they will do it as part of sale if we buy it. Thanks for the reply.
  24. Hi All. This afternoon I'm going to look at a 2020 Karoq 2.0 tsi 4x4. Can anyone tell me what DSG box these have? Also, what is the service intervals for the DSG and Haldex published anywhere? Car has done 40662 miles so Id assume it should have had haldex changed once and possibly dsg box serviced as well? It's at a Skoda dealer, so will be asking these questions Thanks Adrian
  25. Brake one could be ball joints. I was getting a snapping noise when I hit the brakes and it was the passenger side ball joint. Unsure about the other one.
