  1. She should be pleased with that, I'm quite impressed with the styling and interior too!!
  2. Well it seems as though after 7 years we will have another skoda in the household, just ordered a primer grey vrs tdi for the wife, I quite leke the way it looks though I would have prefered the petrol if it were mine, though it seems to be just about adequate in the performance stakes. What is the real world mpg of these?
  3. maybe I should of added ps this is said very tongue in cheek
  4. that may help with future idiots but what about the morons in the here and now!!!!!
  5. though if driving is your job you may end up suffering exceptional personal hardship, you may also put any completely innocent dependants into the same hardship which any decent solicitor will be able to exploit in court pretty much as many times as you speed, I know a gentleman who has got away with keeping his licence 3 times now. I personally kept mine with 15 points on quite a number of years ago using this plea. (I have never had another point since I might add)
  6. A nice spare set of number plates might be in order for you next speedy jaunt, might I suggest trawling the model.specific forums for a car which matches yours then hey presto no more fines/bans......
  7. Something needs to be done to get the self employed paying tax too, I know a lot of one man bands who avoid pretty much all income tax by setting up a ltd company and only on paper earning 700 a month then taking larger director dividends and writing off mostif not all of the tax bill with bogus milage claims and expense claims. I bet there is billions being fiddled this way.
  8. When we did our bathroom I found that the best way to save money was to do the complete opposite of what swmbo wanted!!!!
  9. I own a recruitment company, it is in our best interest to actually get our candidates into a job because that is how we get paid!!!! A lot of the jobs however are spoof jobs to get people on the books, not that I would or need to engage in this practice, a lot of our customers don't even recruit for themselves anymore so the only way in is through a recruitment company.
  10. I ran one for 2 years as a company car, covered about 50k in it and aside from a couple of niggles it ran fine, was big comfy and had adequate performance, never saw anywhere near 40 mpg out of it though it was closer to 30 but with my fuel paid for I wasn't really trying to be economical lol
  11. ok for those not quite so quick on the uptake I will explain, I have owned 4 skodas, not fabia mk2 or later, the car I have a problem with is the mk2 fabia, and I stand by everything I have said about them they are ugly in a way nothing else in the vag range is and they feel like nothing else in the group, it is almost like they made it in China. If you own one I can understand you feel butthurt but that doesn't make me wrong or telling lies for you to call bull on.
  12. I've owned 4 of them, not peddling anywhere really.......
  13. It's not the skoda badge I have a problem with, it's all fabias after the mk1, we both hate them, they look nasty and feel nasty. I tried to talk her into an octavia vrs which we had once but she doesn't want anything that big, despite the fact we both loved our last one. The other thing is being a woman she knows hybrids are green and green saves fluffy polar bears......
  14. I wouldn't have a fabia given, horrible cheap looking things that my neighbours would think I'm going bankrupt!!!!! I will be getting the car on a business lease so the auris is plenty cheap enough thanks .
  15. Porsche 959, I have a real soft spot for these
  16. Went to look at one of these new fangled hybrid things today as my wife wants something cheap to run around in, was pretty impressed with it on a test drive, are these things reliable? Only going to have it 3 years and then fire it back at them so out of warranty stuff isn't a problem I just don't want it to be in the garage more than its on the drive. Also does anyone know how close to the quoted mpg these iPhone cars get?
  17. There are a couple of pics in the non skoda build thread I started on here, but that is it until the complete car resurfaces!!!!!
  18. I have taken one and gone back to a bare shell, a rebuilt abf on twin 45 ' s and every nut and bolt brand new.
  19. I had a build thread but I am a bit old school and thought where the surprise when I finally roll it out at a show so I stopped updating it, needless to say a lot of progress has been made and the car should be ready early next year
  20. I am well north of 25k into my mk2 and will be north of 50 by the time it is done next year, I agree with you completely, I had a picture of a mk2 16v on my wall as a kid and now I own 3 of them!!!! In my eyes they are the best cars ever made.
  21. As it happens I do have a back up plan, and even if they do back down I won't be. I certainly can't sign on even if I wanted too for a great many reason. And if all goes to plan in a couple of months I will probably be able to help some of the unemployed briskodians in the north west. Yes I am spoiled and no I can't think of anything worse than having to do 40k miles a year in a diesel.
