Interior LEDs
Some people regard Osram as a higher tier to the swathe of eBay LEDs. I'm personally going to go down the Osram route for the interior bulbs (with the exception of the boot lights which are panel ones from AliExpress (as demo'ed by SashaGrace somewhere in her build log - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32791071534.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.7abd4c4dIC48LV which can now be ordered from France so should arrive within 7 days after payment clears or money back. Mine en route). The company that I think have been mentioned before are https://www.ledperf.co.uk/#auto

Which driving mode do you use?
Oh don’t get me wrong, today I turned on the car, put my foot down and went to work - was very easy in the common or garden D mode. I’ve found eco helps for slower moving traffic, where you don’t need to hare off the line and coasting has more benefit. Still early days for me but I’m loving the discussions and finding out what suits me! I’d have thought you were right about the manual too.

I’ve found blipping between S and D on the DSG is great for that. Sport til you’re up to speed, especially if you need to build up speed quickly eg slip road, nudge the DSG stick and it drops into D, and climbs up the gears quickly.

1.5TSi - feedback on firmware update
The plates in Uk are on date, so 68 means it was made roughly halfway through 2018. It was registered in October so falls into this bracket.

1.5TSi - feedback on firmware update
No issues with the 1.5tsi ‘68 Octy Dsg I’ve just taken ownership of. Drives great.

Fabia on PCP - Service at dealers?
I don't recall being bound to having services carried out at Skoda but you have to evidence that VAG Group recommended parts and consumables are used to keep your warranty. It's far more simple in that case to just get it done by Skoda, pay the extra couple of quid and make it easier for yourself when your PCP comes to a head.

Mostly Eco so far. Does the job for the majority of driving with the DSG box but can easily blip into sport if I need to climb the speedo with more haste. Need to give the other settings more of a run out I think.

Skoda Octavia 3 Owners register
Owner of a new-to-me, ex-motability '68 Octavia FL 1.5TSi DSG SE Estate in Quartz Grey, having found myself not enjoying the '19 Fabia that preceded it. Car has done 6,700 only so must have only done little drives to the shops, so drives sweet. Engine is nice and has enough punch for me and gearbox is baby-bum smooth. Such lazy driving compared to a 95PS Manual Fabia! Only thing is to sort out Auto lights (surprised they don't come as standard) and chuck some LED interior lights in (for now)... Edit: Oh, and a full size spare...

Coding. OBDeleven/Carista
Assumed as much, thank you Bret.

Coding. OBDeleven/Carista
I'm wondering whether it'll work with a Carista dongle... Everything I've seen points towards 'no' but thought I'd ask all the same.

Coding. OBDeleven/Carista
Useful point. Does OBDEleven work on iPhones these days or not?
-
Coding. OBDeleven/Carista
Carista is fine for basic unlocking of certain features. Yet to dabble with it on the Octy but on my former Fabia it was good for cornering lights, fuel refill amount on dash, lap timer (not that I ever used it 🤣), hill-hold etc. I don't know what I'd do on the Octy that it doesn't already have enabled with current hardware. With that said, I don't have auto lights so am strongly considering getting the associated sensor and light switch, which I've read requires coding to enable (so Carista doesn't suffice). In short, it depends really on how much you're planning on doing.

Tyre advice needed ASAP
You could fit what you want but I'm personally a sucker for matching tyres. I've found the Continentals on my Octy really comfortable but on the, now-former, Fabia (and Mx5 before it) I had Kumho tyres all round and found them excellent. The issue with different tyres is that some cars are pretty sensitive to different tread patterns etc. I'd imagine for a small, FWD car that it wouldn't make any huge issues.

Octavia MK3 suspension creaking sound
I would have thought if it applies to one set of suspension bushes it'd apply to the other, i.e. both front and rear. I'm not 100% on that, however.

Check out the above about re-greasing the bushes. Mention the TPI number above and see if it prompts the dealer. Failing that, take it to an independent and ask them to re-grease them - should be a straightforward job for them.

CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
I'll be sure to post a video of me belting along to something, stutter free (the HU, no guarantees for me). 🤣
-
CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
It's a valid point and one I admittedly hadn't thought of but it has happened when the phone/cable/car are static and only the radio is on. Unless there's some sporadic vibrations I'm not aware of it doesn't quite address it fully - definitely worth having a quick peak at though!

New rear badging.
Maybe ask the dealer supplying you the car?
-
CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
Power saving off - tick. Latest firmware of HU - tick. Latest firmware on phone - tick. Unfortunately issue has been ever-prevalent for me, regardless of model of iPhone, firmware of iPhone, cable used... etc... The dealer allowed me to show them what the fault was and agreed that there was an issue, kept the car a further 24 hours but no fixes or suggested fixes whatsoever.

CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
Concurred, we're on the same page I think! The USB socket would be a nice experiment for someone to see whether that does have any impact. Same thing could help work out how prospectively wide-spread the issue is - if you have type (a) connector, you'll have the issue, if you have type (b) you won't sort of stuff. As for my 'some amount of focus', I didn't say into resolving the issue but instead into finding out that there is an issue. Their involvement ended there, for sure, when they had the opportunity to pass the buck (I think I mentioned that in one of my posts above). Their finding out that there is an issue would've been dependent on user visits back to dealer to raise the issue, which would've been logged. Regardless, looks as though the wheels are in motion for getting an Octy Estate on Tuesday/Wednesday so hopefully that'll be the end of my contributions on this thread. Really hoping that it does get sorted for the affected users though, it's really not fun to deal with. Especially the 'echo' for people down the other end of the phone.

CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
I wholeheartedly agree - If I cry about something that is bothering me, I'll most likely attract others who are facing the same woes. No doubt about that, however... It would seem that of the persons who frequent this forum, with the MY19 Fabia with the HU (same as yours), that there's still a reasonably high number that do have this issue. If it was one or two saying 'yeah mine stutters' and everyone else seeing that as strange then I'd be inclined to agree that it's not particularly widespread. To me, the fact that Skoda have admitted that there is a fault, and that it's Apple's fault, makes me think that there have been enough focus to find out that something is wrong but not to implement a fix themselves. For reference, mine is the same as yours (Swing+). I have been told that there are issues with this when using Apple devices. I had tried the iPhone 7 (my old), iPhone 8 (OH's old), iPhone 11 (my new) and iPhone 11 Pro (OH's new) with genuine OEM, 3rd party long, 3rd party short incl. Anker cables with no avail. I had suggested that it was an issue with the USB connection in the very initial stages of noting the issue to Skoda and they simply dismissed it. Agreed - the point in bold is what I was trying to highlight to FabiaGonzalez. It's an older model yet works flawlessly, has done from day 1, and I've seen no reports of that style of HU from suffering issues (backed up by FG's anecdote of his working throughout his ownership). I'm wondering whether there are two 'grades' of USB connector to the radio, an older (better) unit that featured in the Amundsen and some Swing+ that prohibits the issue and a newer (possibly cheaper?) unit that is less compatible with iPhones? If someone took one of the USB connectors for the old '17 Polo and wired it into the Swing+, in an example that is exhibiting issues, then would it resolve the issue I wonder?

Prospective new owner
That's great, thank you! I'll be honest the DSG and engine combo was butter smooth regardless of how I drove it. Have taken the dive and gone for it - hopefully won't be long now until I pick it up. First thing on the list then is to get a lip protector for the boot, front mudflaps (as strangely it's only got rear ones) and a LED boot light (am dabbling with the idea of LED interior lights throughout though). Car will come with a new set of mats too which is nice.

CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
Yes and a particular style of head unit, which is why I’m noticing the distinction been the older (your) style and the newer base (my) style units. still, it’s a shame for us who have commented above to be affected. I literally no longer use CarPlay because it’s so frustrating, unless I absolutely have to use maps. Granted it’s not a safety issue (again probably a reason Skoda aren’t moving quickly on it) but it’s a feature that has been included at consumer cost which doesn’t function properly.

CarPlay stutter... Eugh!
Talking about SWMBOs Polo, it has had zero issues since day one, nor have I read of it happening with that style of radio (similar to FabiaGonzalez’s which has also not had issues). On the face of it, it doesn’t seem to be a minority. Unless the majority are simply not using CarPlay with an iPhone (as the combination seems to be the issue) at which point the issue isn’t realised, not that it doesn’t exist. The fact this thread has had a reasonable amount of activity from varying years of Fabia all over the country signifies to me that it’s not an isolated issue - the fix, albeit temporary, came from Greek forums so it’s clearly prevalent there too. I know of one other person with a Fabia Mk3, same headunit in their SEL, same issue with CarPlay with differing phones. Their car approx 1/2 year older than mine. It seems Skoda are quick to pin the blame on Apple so it acts as a get out of jail free card in essence. There’s been no effort to diagnose my issue past that point.

The dealer might know - perhaps phone them?
