  1. Well Serenity Plus is available in that size https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/turanza-serenity-plus-el64 225/55R17 - Load 101, Speed V, OD 680 I can't stress enough how good these tyres are for noise. Although narrower tyres are less prone to aquaplaning and create less noise also if you want to head for stock.
  2. Yeah I am in Australia too. I think the 2014 model was also probably a little worse than the later models. I don't think you have any insulation under the rear bench seat. Mine did when I looked (2019). Your list of things to do will make a difference. I no longer get a headache / ear-ache after long trips on coarse bitumen. But it's still louder than I would like. If you are on 17s definitely look for Bridgestone Serenity Plus - https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/turanza-serenity-plus-el64?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiubipe_g6wIVGKmWCh2-DgNfEAAYASAAEgJ0g_D_BwE
  3. Plasti Dip would work too.
  4. Common things that can cause vibrations... Tyres - Bulging, Damaged (flat spot), out of round - These should be easily spotted when the tyre is balanced Alignment - Wheels pointing in the wrong direction, wrong camber or caster. Engine & gearbox mounts - Damaged, loose, worn. Axles/CV joints - Bent, worn or damaged Suspension - Bent or lose components and particularly damaged loose or worn bushings. Strut tower mounts. Shock absorbers - Worn or damaged. Incorrect compression and or rebound rates Drive-shafts - Half-shaft bearings damaged worn or loose. Bent shafts Gearbox / Engine - Harmonic balancer failure. DSG Dual mass flywheel issues. Misfires. A dealer should be checking all the usual suspects.
  5. Remove ALL black glossy plastic surfaces. They really must be stupid to use that where they did. Scratch magnet Grease magnet
  6. I would definitely service early to get in before the warranty expires. How much is the extended warranty where you live?
  7. Tyres can definitely make a significant difference. Although they don't make them in a size for the Superb where I live, I have put Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus on an Opel Astra and the difference was impressive. If I could I would use these tyres everywhere. Bridgestone really did a great job here. However, nothing can beat OEM engineering aimed at sound-control. Unless you want to retrofit it yourself
  8. FWIW I pulled a front door apart a few months back...lots of stuff in there that could vibrate...
  9. Indeed this is exactly what most of us have been chasing. Tyre roar and its a problem. Its heavily dependent on road surface. If reviewers have not driven on coarse chip bitumen, then they would never know. It is my opinion the problem with the Superb comes back to transmitted vibrations through the cassis. And so its down to a lack of isolation with bushings. It's not really air-transmitted noise. Its through the body and re-radiated.
  10. FWIW tyres will get you only so far. The Superb has issues with road noise in general.
  11. Thanks for sharing. Nice review. FWIW re the technology trickle > Audi > VW > Skoda, recently the Skodas seem to be getting the same tech as VW at the same time.
  12. Sounds like Dual Mass flywheel failure to me. As in this video on a Gollf
  13. This is all about perspective and you seem to have created a very limited one to view this from. Constant leasing always puts you in the steepest part of the depreciation curve (until you die or stop leasing, whatever comes first). Compared to buying 2-3 year old cars and hanging onto them for 5 or so.
  14. Indeed but ultimately it's crap design on the part of VAG. No DMF should fail at 64 k miles.
  15. I'd guess its the (dual mass) flywheel failing ... e.g...
  16. I think all cars should come with rubber mats standard and carpet extra. It makes no sense putting carpet on any car floor.
  17. This! Fade the speakers 100% rear (subwoofer min) and listen. The WORST sound I could imagine. Lacks high end and bass. I can't understand how they ended up with this arrangement.
  18. After seeing so many people doing it the wrong way, I decided to make my own video
  19. Settings > Screen > Switch off screen (in 10 seconds) - Enable/disable the automatic power off function This option does not seem to be remembered. Any ideas?
  20. For those with an MY19 Hatch and said glass fitted, is this also applied to the rear hatch window? If so, is it the same density as the rear-side windows? The configurator is not exactly clear (no pun intended )
