  1. Have found a very long thread in the Karoq Guides, it would seem this is not uncommon and likely down to incompetence or flaky servers at Skoda.
  2. Just thought I'd add that mine went last week losing my registration, unable to enter the new code as it says No Data Link. Like others have tried all sorts of things but no joy.
  3. Just to update this, for a short while the Registration re-appeared but then went again. I have connected the car to my phone, a usb modem and a further phone using Vodafone, 3 and O2 and they all say No data link when entering the 8 digit activation code.
  4. These have mostly worked fine on my late 2018 Karoq Amundsen but a few days ago the globe stayed red. The car knows I have a license till 2023. I looked at the Registration screen this morning which has always said registered but today it asked for a PIN. I've reset the S Pin and the app tells me I have to register myself with the car and gives me a number to enter in the Registration window. When I do this it keeps saying No Data Link try again later. The car is connected to the hotspot on the phone which has a 4G connection and has always worked but if the car won't connect to the internet because I'm not registered but I can't register because it won't connect to the internet (assuming this is what no data link means) how do I proceed? I can't recall ever having to enter anything before, it was all registered when I collected it new from the dealer.
  5. I had an email with about 5 attachments detailing terms and conditions, I'd be quite happy not to have an invoice every month in the post, seems a waste of paper.
  6. The curiosity in the paperwork is that the breakdown cover runs for two years but the service agreement doesn't expire for three, presumably to make sure you get the two services and MOT's in. I had my first MOT done elsewhere as too much bother to take it to the dealer but you can have the MOT done a month before the third anniversary of first registration but it won't start running till the registration date (same as getting an MOT done early) so you could get the dealer to do the MOT in the month leading up to the registration which would also give them the opportunity to find and rectify any issues.
  7. You can't take the plan out until the car is 3 years old, and the inspection has to be undertaken no more than 7 days before taking the plan, so ideally you need to get it inspected in the last week of the warranty so you can roll straight on to the All In One. I found this all a bit bizarre, VWFS are presumably the ones that pay for warranty work and who would pay for anything required under all in one, why they can't sell the package to you when the car has been serviced by the main dealer I don't understand, if any warranty work was required they'd pay for it so it's not as if they're incurring any extra financial responsibility. I did want the breakdown cover having had a really good experience with it when mice eat some of the wiring loom but it seems to offer reasonable value though they do get the chance to sell you all the little service add ons.
  8. I get the front assist warning message every time I drive down a long narrow farm track with high brambles both sides, oddly it only ever does it on the way out never on the way in. As it resets itself once back on the proper roads and never occurs anywhere else I suspect it is some sort of sensory overload rather than a fault.
  9. Naturally it was accepted, would have been a bit odd if it hadn't been just a few days out of warranty. Slightly miffed dates meant I couldn't quite squeeze into the November offer. Still, I had an excellent experience with skoda assist when mice nibbled the wiring so happy to continue with that. They do get to sell me all the extra servicing items but on balance it didn't seem a bad price for what's offered.
  10. I'm off to the dealer tomorrow for the all in one eligibility check, seems a bit pointless when the car is only now 3 years old and has been serviced by the dealer doing the Checking. They can hardly say it hasn't been properly serviced and if there was anything wrong I'd have had it done under warranty. You'd think in those circumstances it would just be sold by the dealer, seems more understandable when it's more than a day out of warranty.
  11. I get through quite a few of these batteries as our cats have direction finders on their collars. Bought quite a few duracell via amazon and they look genuine with long dates but the odd one just doesn't work.
  12. I've taken mine out and put it back a few times and it connects fine. I don't think you get anything for points, they're a bit pointless.
  13. I'm having issues the other way round, phone not connecting which I'm fairly certain is a Bluetooth issue on the phone. Resetting the wifi etc on the phone seemed to resolve but happened again today, restarting the phone resolved for now.
  14. Visited relatives Saturday, round trip of 312 miles mostly Motorway which I gather reduces the range so the technology has to improve a bit before they become viable for me. Really dubious about infrastructure, not just charging points but whether the local sub stations and cabling are going to be sufficient to cope with the demand in areas where take up high. Suspect a good many people are also going to face bills for rewiring when the electrician calls to fit a charging point and sees their ancient consumer unit.
  15. Same happened with my Fabia, really missed it. If it needs trim renewal seems replacing a 5p piece o f plastic would be an expensive repair at a dealer.
  16. Mine too and like everyone else occurs when it's left open in the sun, all other times fine.
  17. Recently moved our bees to a remote spot that involves driving down a lane with long grass in the middle. This always overloads the system and up comes an orange warning and it turns itself off. Restarting the engine at the end of the lane clears the problem. Turning round in long grass or manoeuvring near tall nettles often slams the brakes on so violently it's just like you have hit something.
  18. I think I've got some grease up in the garage roof dating to when I used to do my own servicing on cars that had grease nipples. Think I'll try the Vaseline first.
  19. I had a replace key battery message this morning so did just that with a Duracell 2025 cell which the packaging said was good till 2025 except I suspect it was a bit on the flat side. Fortunately I have lots of 2032's which I popped in and it worked straight away. While fiddling with the duff battery before I realised it was a bit flat I also experienced the alarm going off while opening the door with the key, happy to have done it at home as if I ever need to open with the key in the lock again I'll know what to do. Off to order some 2025's. At the last service the Garage said to replace the batteries but in every car I've owned they always lasted for ever I didn't bother but it seems like they are only good for 2 years.
  20. Vaseline or silicone spray? Mine has recently started squeaking too.
  21. The only odd thing I found with the 3 cylinder engine is the lack of engine braking compared with 4 cylinders. Changing down a gear doesn't really achieve much. Apart from that I've found it more than adequate and economical.
  22. Works perfectly every time for me and doesn't use much data at all this month about 220 miles and 7 Mb. I have a Moto G6 which is a few years old now.
  23. I can believe they would but it wouldn't do the backups which might be useful if you change phones, I expect there are settings that allow you to withold all the data from the app going to VAG
  24. My phone is Android, when I switch the ignition on the phone connects to the car using bluetooth, this allows me to make calls using the touchscreen, the bluetooth also connects to the dataplug and they use bluetooth to transmit information between the car and the app. Your phone will then use it's mobile connection to send bits of data and the backup of your data to VAG. I run an app on my phone called Hotspot Automatic. When the phone connects to the car using bluetooth hotspot automatic creates a wifi hotspot, and the car connects to the wifi hotspot so it can use the phones connection to the internet. This allows the red globe to change to white indicating the car is connected to the internet and allows me to get the traffic information on the navigation (expensive but I find the traffic useful).
  25. Even on my 2018 model The awful my Skoda app now communicates via wi-fi so I guess the data plugs have been superseded which is why they can be found cheap. Mine came from a vauxhall dealer with a VW franchise and is genuine part.
