2 year service + brake fluid + Aircon service
My 2018 Karoq has never been regassed and still works well. Though I stump up for the brake fluid change I do wonder why it only lasts 2 years when we used to never change it till the brake pipes rusted away. As someone who's very light on the brakes and doesn't drive down Porlock Hill every day I can't believe I'm cooking anything, does todays fluid absorb moisture more easily.

Skoda Karoq 1.0Tsi 2018
Had mine done at 5 years, think it was around 650 at a dealer. The water pump is at the other end, just had that replaced due to a leak. A common problem I gather, the VW independent I used has done quite a few, mine was 7 years old but they're doing them on 4 year old cars.

Coolant Leak 999cc
And it's the water pump, they've done quite a few and according to you tube it's the weak point. Once in the air from underneath they could spot the dribble.

Coolant Leak 999cc
Indeed, I assumed the water pump would be running off the same belt as the alternator but watching some videos it seems the water pump and thermostat housing is the other end. Though my coolant puddle is at the alternator end I can't see any leaks there so perhaps it's leaking elsewhere and running across. I've looked at the gearbox end and didn't see signs of a leak. I've found a VW independent not far away so will see if they can take a look, if it takes skoda 4 weeks to give me an appointment for an oil change and a look who knows how long it takes them to do a repair. There's quite an excess on my skoda warranty so depending what it is and how much an independent charges might just get it done.

Coolant Leak 999cc
The coolant level on my 999cc 2018 Karoq has been falling requiring topping up. There is a small puddle of coolant in the tray under the engine at the alternator, water pump end. Difficult to see clearly but from underneath I'm not seeing coolant stains from any of the pulleys so wondering where it might be leaking from if not there. I did buy the Skoda warranty and it's booked in for a diagnostic but the earliest date is almost 4 weeks away, another dealer said June, these seem crazy timescales to me, is the Skoda dealer network too small for the number of cars? Minded to pay an independent to look though if it is something expensive then will wait for Skoda. It's not just Skoda though, my stepdaughter has a Kia EV which has been in the garage for months waiting for a battery, she's reached 29 in the queue

Small accident (rear bumper spoiler?)
Am I the only one not to see the original posters pictures instead seeing a message that the content is not viewable in your region, the UK. Crank up the VPN and refresh the page and all there. No doubt a result of the on line safety bill as we must protect people from viewing car p##n. I belong to a coffee forum and all our pictures disappeared there, disturbing pictures of coffee machines.

My 'All-in' plan coming to an end .......
My all in one plan (servicing, breakdown, MOT and warranty for which I pay £26.25/month) is about to come to an end on my 7 year old Karoq with 68000 miles. For under 10k a year they quote £295 (24.58 month) with a £250 excess for their Plus (best) cover. Anything going wrong would have to cost £545 for it to be cost effective though I expect there's quite a lot of electrical components and some bits in the brakes that would cost way more than that. To date nothing has gone wrong. Though I expect you can get it serviced elsewhere using the dealer is more likely to avoid arguments. I was very happy that I had the spark plugs changed in my last all in one service.

Tyre Load Index
Checking tyre sizes on my 2018 Karoq 1.0 manual I see they're 215 60 R16 with a load rating of 99. Almost all tyre sites show me 95 and the original full size spare in the boot is a 95. I've owned this since new and I don't suppose I'd have bought 99's as replacements in the past if the existing were 95 (unless of course that was the supply situation at the time). If anyone has the 1.0 could they let me know what load rating they have please. The operating weight is 1340 kg, the max axle loads are 960 and 980 kg so the 95's with a rating of 690 kg look to be adequate. I've kept with the original Bridgestone T001 that it came with and they're still available in the 95 but most sites offer the newer T005 now, cheaper and supposedly better.

Low Coolant Error
I had an awful lot of similar messages when a mouse eat through some wiring except they didn't go until the wire was replaced.

All in One Policy vs Actual Practice at the garage?
A phone call to VW Financial Services confirmed it's the lingering service plan that was the issue, they cancelled while I was on the phone, sent a confirmation by email and shortly after I was able to take out a new service plan, warranty and breakdown cover. Delighted I could still purchase at £26.25 a month as for the past 2 years I've been paying £32.

All in One Policy vs Actual Practice at the garage?
I've been trying to renew my all in one but the computer says no as it tells me I have a service plan. Close scrutiny of the paperwork shows I do, the warranty part has expired, the breakdown part has expired but the service and mot part still has a year to run despite I've used all my entitlements. Guess I'll have to contact VW Financial Services to cancel the policy that has no benefits so I can take out a new one.
-
Huge jump in premium!
Changing topic slightly, reading my renewal seems the maximum NCD after 9 years is 24%, this may be a false memory but I seem to recall as a youngster in my 20's (so the 70's) you could get up to 60%.

windscreen chip
When Autoglass replaced my screen it came with the sensors so they just pushed the mirror with its electrical contacts on and everything worked, well, wipers, lights, never been sure about the automatic dipping. Hefty increase in insurance at renewal though I gather this is down to inflation rather than the windscreen claim. The chap who did it was very good at his Job so no complaints.
-
Huge jump in premium!
Mine has also leaped to £472 from £305. I wondered if they were sneakily recovering the cost of a windscreen claim but obtaining fictitious quotes not mentioning the windscreen didn't help, all the other quotes were higher than Churchill. Aside from here I've seen other reports of massive increases in premiums. Is it age (69) or is there massive inflation in insurance.

Sorry, a tyre query
For replacing with Bridgestones Asda we're a little cheaper than going direct to my local Merityre but cheapest by a long way are Halfords.
-
Sorry, a tyre query
Going slightly off topic, I'm about to replace all 4 215/60 16 99V Bridgestones and there seems to be a choice between 2 and 4 wheel alignment, having once had a car aligned on 4 wheels and then told it couldn't be adjusted at the rear I wondered if the Karoq has any means of adjustment at the rear. As the rears have worn perfectly over 45k I think they might be best left alone. The fronts seem to last half that and wear more on the outside edge. Michelin Cross climates are considerably more than Bridgestones and if I went for them I'd have a bridgestone spare is mixing on the same axle ok?

Karoq Boot Lid Broken Pull Handle
The easiest job ever though I did buy a set of trim removal tools from Amazon telling myself they'll be useful for other jobs around the house. They cost about £25 but it was the super deluxe set and they made light work of popping the fasteners starting at the corner and working round to the lock. The handle was £14.41 half of which was DHL delivery. Not sure what the dealer would charge, probably more than £40 and not the best journey. Next job a visit to Autoglas for a new windscreen as washing for the first time in ages discovered a chip and a crack right at the bottom of the screen

Front Discs and pads totally shot after 24,000 mls
My 68 plate has done 44k and still on original discs and pads and I dont use gears to slow down, on the 3 cylinder 999cc engine there seems to be no engine braking so no point.

Karoq Boot Lid Broken Pull Handle
Mine went today and I've always been careful not to have anything in front of it when I close the tailgate. At least it wasn't expensive.

How do I import many POI locations to Amundsen (MIB2)
I was thinking about updating some of my POI's, it used to be easy as you could upload a csv file via the Skoda connect portal and they'd find their way onto your car. That's disappeared and in theory you can import from a SD card but I believe they have to be converted into a suitable format first.

Warranty claims
Probably not the right place to post but an article in today's Guardian about how someone reported a possible warranty issue but was told it wasn't covered because the garage couldn't inspect before the warranty expired due to lack of appointments at the dealers. https://amp.theguardian.com/money/2022/apr/20/skodas-refusal-to-honour-warranty-staggers-legal-experts The implications of this policy would be the dealer could say there were never any appointments available and skoda would never ha e to meet a warranty claim. They did back down.

Amundsen MIB2 no internet connection
My Karoq is late 2018 and the only function I have is to send a destination to the car, it can tell me mileage and fuel state but I have to plug the phone into USB to get those so little point. I rarely use the app but pay the money for the infotainment service so I can see the traffic situation on the in car nav when I get in the car. If your car is very new I think it might do a lot more. In a previous version you could see your service history but that's disappeared so if I ever took a trip to we buy any car I'd have to go with the bills like in the very old days pre service books.

Amundsen MIB2 no internet connection
This morning I noticed the White Globe so attempted to enter the activation code which failed with an incorrect code message but progress. Shortly after returning home I had a couple of emails from Skoda, Went out and tried again and this time it worked. While Globe and all the Connect services reinstated. Surprising how much I missed the traffic at certain times of the day like school times really helpful to gauge where not to go. Know a lot of people don't think it's worth the money but I find it really useful. Do you think they rebooted the server? The white globe appeared much faster than it ever has before. Checking my profile my old license purchase history has disappeared now only shows the new one so I wonder if they have just recreated me. Someone did suggest the databases had got a little stuffed so the system just didn't know what some people had. Still, quite a speedy response in my case.

Amundsen MIB2 no internet connection
I contacted Customer Services yesterday and was quite surprised at the rapid response, the problem has been escalated to a technical team at the factory but like you not expecting a fix anytime soon.

Amundsen MIB2 no internet connection
I've been using it since new, and while it's had occasional outages these have never lasted more than a couple of days, now it needs to be reregistered which seems to be unlikely to happen any time soon I think I'll be asking for a refund of the fee paid as I only recently renewed it for a further 12 months. I use Tom Tom on Android for navigation but I found it handy to be able to zoom out on the Amundsen and see the traffic situation some distance ahead, though it still displays traffic from the radio not really as good as the much better updates on Connect.
