  1. That was my first guess, after it reported low voltage after 3 days. The battery is only 2.5 year old so shouldn't be a problem, but I note it is a EFB not a AGM.
  2. Got a 2018 superb, not been driven for 3 days, and today reported low 12v battery. Please drive to recharge. Didnt start on first attempt, left a bit and tried again started fine. Then got message SOS Emergency Call restricted Workshop. Despite driving to charge battery, and several on / off cycles it still remains. Start / Stop didnt work at first, but is now back. Any ideas?

  5. See my post above. Seems to be 210,000km in most countries (which Skoda translate to 120k miles), with no time limit.
  6. Agreed - if there isnt enough legroom in the superb - then you will need to buy a Van / Minibus! I think only the Audi A8 has more.
  7. Replacement windscreen on the superb does ADAS need calibration. Has ACC, emergency braking and blind spot assist - but not traffic sign or lane assist? I beleive the ACC is in the front grille? Any sensors in the windscreen?
  8. Ive got a 2.0TDI (150ps). If you are looking at 2016 onwards, anything from a SE will have ACC, Climate Control and Android Auto (so you dont need satnat - as you can use google maps / waze powered by you phone). It works well and you get traffic / updated maps etc. You need to go to L&K for the other bits (heated seats, windscreen etc). Before 2018 - you will only get front parking sensors on the SE Business or L&K - later on SE and above. Also bear in mind that maintenance costs are a little higehr with 4x4 . My superb was fine in the snow (with cross climate tyres). Using decent all seasons is probably a better idea, than a 4x4 on summers?? The 150ps goes well - sedate when it wants to be, but a bit more power, it changes down and overtakes with ease I have rear parking camera as well, and parking is easier that the car I has before. SUV style vehicles seem to be more of an issue to park that the superb. For your mileage (45 min run time) you will be fine with diesel. What they dont like are very short trips where they dont get the time to regen - the 2.0 tdi is regenerating even in town traffic. My shortlist was SMAX, Mondeo, 3008, Passat, Superb - ended up with Superb SE (with a fews extras) and very happy.
  9. Colin170CR, I think you are right. When the foot is off the gas, you shouldn't be using any fuel. The difference seems to be in hilly areas, that with each you gain a little speed that takes you up the next incline (like a roller coaster), with engine braking you gained no speed at the bottom, so you need a bit of gas to get you up the next incline. I suspect it is something that would be rarely used, and probably doesnt gain much (if any) mpg, or it would be added as standard to get better emission numbers.
  10. Does moving from D to N whilst moving cause any issue? (or back for that matter!)
  11. You learn something new every day. I guess this is why it reports loss of pressure, rather than an actual pressure reading. Any idea how accurate it is? What pressure drop is typically needed for a warning? If it works, makes you wonder why others are using tpms sensors?
  12. First car with TPMS. Traditionally you have a new valve fitted when you change the tyre. How does it work with TPMS. Does the sensor have a lifespan? Is there any servicing of the sensor / valve needed? How much extra are tyre changes likely to cost?
  13. Anyone know if "eco mode" can be coded, on models without Drive Mode Selection? It seems possible on Audi, so may be possible on Skoda. Models SEL and above have it, but not S or SE. Therefore appear to be no way to select "ECO" mode which allows coasting. You can select ECO in ACC - but this only affects ACC - and I am not sure it allows coasting.
  14. On models without Drive Mode Selection (i,e up to and including SE) there is no option to select ECO mode. However on ACC, you can chose "ECO, COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT". I thought this related to the throttle response only. i.e when adaptive cruise accelerated it picks up very slowly in ECO, and quite rapid in SPORT. However, I have tried it in ECO, and came up to slow/standing traffic. I did notice that rather than slowing down gently as usual with little braking, the car came up behind the slow/stopped car quick quickly, and then put the brakes on quite hard (It was quite disconcerting, as I felt I needed to jump on the brakes myself!, and you dont usually get this feeling) Now you mention engine braking it seems quite likely this is the difference. In theory, not using ECO should reduce brake pad usage . It seems likely that ECO model on ACC, is actually running the same logic, as Drive Mode Selection would (i.e slow throttle, less engine braking )
  15. Is Manoeuvre Assist on a 2018 model. I did a quick google, and it seems to be 2020/21 models? The manual for the 2018 model however refers to "Automatic Emergency Braking". I think it is a similar system, but you should not rely on it and it is your problem when you crash! The later version seems to be more of an everyday assistant? Automatic emergency braking Read and observe and on page 215 first .If the system detects a collision risk when travelling forwards or reversing at aspeed up to 8 km/h, there is an automatic emergency braking to reduce the impact consequences.

  17. I have a 2018 SE - When lights are on, side light and headlights come on together. My sidelights are more yellow than the heads. Is this normal - if not someone previously changed bulbs.
  18. Im more confused! City Emergency if above 5mph when driving forward (is this part of Front Assist) There is another braking linked to parking sensors which works "up to 5mph" - but if you manoeuvre more slowly it will not activate? So it only works if you drive quicky (but slower than 5mph!) -
  19. Does anyone actually use "coasting" is there any loss in not having it available on all models? Can it be coded with VCDS?
  20. SE variant DSG doesn't have Drive mode selection (which is only standard on SEL and above). This seems to mean that ECO mode cannot be selected. It seems that the DSG box only uses coasting with ECO. Does anyone know if using coasting improves MPG, if so it is surprising that Drive Mode is not standard.
  21. Not found a way to disable - but i be surprised if it wasn't possible in vcds Safest way so far, is to open the car (all doors) if you want the boot. You then need to lock the car when you are done. If you open boot only, it will be locked when you close.
  22. Anyone use a bumper protector on a Mk3 Estate?   23. Traditional Key - not KESSY. I have managed to lock it in a Audi A6 before - so i think it is common to all VAG. Dont think you can lock KESSY in.
