  1. Not the most serious problem, but if there's an easy fix, I'll do it. I have an saloon with the 2 part boot opening. But when I long press on the keyfob to open the boot, it unlocks, clicks up, but won't open fully. Very rarely will it open fully. Like one in 50 times. Sometimes it opens about 6 inches. Is there anything to be done or is this just the normal feature of it? It's been like this since I bought it in 2019, car is 2008
  2. Just to throw in an option, I got a Pioneer SPH DA250DAB https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-SPH-DA250DAB-Mechless-Double-Android/dp/B085HLJJ4W?th=1 Works great, I decided I didn't want an android unit. Only problem with this is that it's wired android auto. After a couple of months I got a wireless adapter and it now has google maps and spotify on the stereo screen within about 10 seconds of starting the car with my phone in my pocket. Really happy with it
  3. LOL, yeah, used to live there, most of my family still do! In west dublin now, not a million miles away. Bought my car in the UK though, up near Newcastle.
  4. Ah right, didn't notice i had the wrong model. This is what I hate about buying electronics, there's always a better one for just a bit more money! Don't temp me into the 6gb one! But cheers, that IB model will probably do, 300 is doable and throw in a few adapters I'll probably need. Cheers, you saved me €30 already 😀
  5. Yeah, I was thinking the wireless wouldn't be to great. Sounds good on paper. I plug my phone in 90% of the time in the car, so that isn't an issue. Definitely won't have a sim for the headunit. I won't be installing any extras, maybe an OBDII device. I might just take out the columbus and see what the GPS connection is and get that adapter if needed. Funny enough, I wasn't planning on spending closer to €300 on a unit, but the xtrons european site has an offer on the IQ90MTVL, so might just pick one up https://www.xtronsgermany.de/vw-skoda-seat-verschiedene-android-10-octa-core-4gb-ram-64gb-rom-ib90mtvl?find=skoda-superb-2008-7741
  6. I definitely think the estate is a nicer looking car, and sure the extra room will come in handy sometimes. I had to swap out bluetooth modules as mine is a 2008 but after 2 years of a columbus I think a new headunit is a better idea
  7. I was really thinking of getting a xtrons unit but tbh, looking at the connectors at the back and reading descriptions of it (even detailed ones by @GaffCelticViking ) but it's like the most complecated shít ever and I know there'll be some differences in connectors and the thing will be in a box! Hows the everyones android auto working? Always seemed to me that the android auto GPS would be handier than the built in GPS
  8. It takes forever to copy to the HDD. But I like having stuff on it.
  9. Ok, that wasn't it, still have water leaking in. I noticed its far worse when I park on a slope. Driveway is a hill, if its parked with the back facing down I get way more water
  10. It wouldn't even start! I reckon the battery was old, replaced it and I'm sorted. Cheers!
  11. Well that's a relief. The car is 12 years old, so I don't mind putting a new battery into it, no idea how old the current one is.
  12. I've had the car a year, but it's 2008. I always like a decent battery, so ordered a yuasa replacement.
  13. Could be, if its that simple I'd be happy.
  14. Ok, went to start the car today and instead of the dials doing their usual startup routine, this happened Taking the key out and trying to lock the car and the alarm keeps going off. It's like the car is possessed! Anyone any idea where to start? I did have a water in the passenger footwell problem recently.
