Water in rear passenger footwell. Is this windscreen seal the culprit?

Featured Replies

I have the car a year but recently noticed water in the passenger footwell. I did a search and it seems windscreen is the most likely location. I checked my seals and noticed the halfway down each side, it sort of looks pinched. https://imgur.com/a/ZuEyMTZ

I'm assuming that piece should be on the outside the whole way up?

Car is on a slight slope so I'm guessing that's how it got into the back.

Ok, it's not the pollen filter, thats dry. Some heavy showers lately, i parked on a hill to see how much water collected and got this.

Going to put some sealent along the passenger side of the windscreen and see if that solves it

Ok, I think water is coming in the front passenger side. A couple of people on the forum had similar problems with different causes. One person removed the wheel arch liner when the front wheel was off and it was full of leaves. I tried the same and it was full right up to the top. This would make sense from where I think the water is getting in. Photo of the bottom bit where it was compact, but there were leaves right up to the top.

Cleared it, hopefully it solveds it and helps someone else with a similar problem.

Poured water on the car, it goes through the drains and onto the ground almost instantly, before it took a while

Had the same problem on my mark II.

Fixed under warranty but the water was actually coming in from the rear quarter panel passenger side.

Ok, that wasn't it, still have water leaking in. I noticed its far worse when I park on a slope. Driveway is a hill, if its parked with the back facing down I get way more water
