  1. If you go for aftermarket be careful. I ordered a set of Sachs for my vehicle (ORM 5Q0 511 115Q) but it matched 2 OEM part numbers. In the end I sent them back and went for KYB as it matched the original single part number.
  2. @Breezy_Pete should be able to give you the exact part numbers you need. Both him and @Carlston have been really helpful to other members after par numbers
  3. I replaced mine, however alot of people just reuse the current ones Think I ended up paying about £16 from VW for a set of 4
  4. Not seen any published interval, when I spoke to Skoda they just told me if it looks cracked or split. I've done it anyway as the car is 8 years old with 86k on the clock, just for peace of mind. I used a local garage (as my back is shot) and they charged £50 all in. They said they managed doing it through the engine bay and only took them around 10 minutes.
  5. Hi all, This is for a 2.0TSI VRS 230. Has anyone replaced thier serpentine\aux\fan belt by themselves without having to go in through the wheel arch? It looks 'fairly' simple and some of the quotes ive been given by garages are quite high considering how long 'it appears' to take. Just after guidance really and if it is an easy 5 mins job as some people make out.
  6. Really appreciate your help on this Carlston. I'll whip the old springs out and compare them against the Sachs ones. I have a motor factors close to me which can get the KYB ones in same day, so if they are quite far out I'll just go for the KYBs. I did email Sachs and they basically said that the 925s fit both the Q and R part number (as you mentioned before) but didn't really answer my question as to why other suppliers have different parts numbers for the Q and R. Thanks for your help once again
  7. Sounds about right bud to try and save on costs. Debating if to send the sachs ones back and go for KYB instead.
  8. If you look up the OE part number on the KYB site it shows as RA7156 which then matches the specs although 3mm shorter and 100g lighter than Sachs 994925. The pictures are different, however not sure if they just use a stock picture. It almost looks as if Sachs might have made a product which caters for both part numbers as it seems to be 'in the middle' in terms of spec between Q and R. Regards
  9. Does this mean the listing on Sachs in incorrect then as they are showing 994925 as being the same as 5Q0511115Q although also listing it at the same time as 5Q0511115R Regards
  10. Thanks for confirming, feel a bit at ease now as ordered sachs 5Q0511115Q equilivent
  11. Awesome thankyou, I've had a quick look and can't see any visible coloured dots on them
  12. Hi, Its SB54VRS Regards
  13. Hi all,a bit confused with what rear springs I need for my 2016 vrs 230. Skoda have given me a part number of 5q0511115q whereas on most sites that comes up as for a combi/estate. If I manually try and find the part number i.e. select vrs 230 and hatchback I get part number 5Q0511115P Does anyone know what it should be?
  14. It's not fitted with a DPF as it's petrol not diesel sorry
  15. Ahh ok, I look to have to get it changed every 6 months or 5k miles in honesty, so it sounds like I should be ok
  16. Hi all, bit of a weird request, I was checking around my 230 the other day and noticed what looks like a hanger on the rear nearside suspensions. I can't seem to see anything it would connect to, so assuming this might be for the diesel version as it only has a back box on that one side. Does anyone else have a 230 they could check for me please? Its only on the rear nearside in front of the rear caliper if that makes sense. Pic attached
  17. Did you ever find the answer to this? I had my brake fluid flushed recently (as it looked like this) just checked it and it looks the same now
  18. Hi all, I took my 230 to my local VW specialist for an engine oil and filter change today. Looking at the invoice it looks as if 5W-40 VW 502.00 was used, looking through the previous owners receipts I can see 5W30 was used. Should I go back to the garage and ask them (i dont want to seem like im causing trouble over nothing) I have checked on previous posts and can see 5w40 mentioned but not sure if thats correct or not Regards
  19. What oil would you recommend? Called up a couple of places and some recommend 0w30 and others have said 5w30. Looking through previous invoices (but not most recent) millers 5w30 was used but it looks like the last oil change was done at a completely different place
  20. Not sure what oil was used on last service lol. The receipt just says "oil and filter" and the cost. So I'll get it booked in to be done. I got the VAQ serviced after picking it up and got the DSG service booked for next week (due in 3k miles) I had VCDS on it and could see one of the cam magnets might need replacing as the actual value for exhaust cam was very sporadic whereas intake was closed to or just hoovering around the specific/requested value.
  21. thanks for responding, it was a cold start
  22. It's on 85k, no record of any timing parts being replaced 😞
  23. Hi all, I am driving a fair distance to look at a 2016 Mk3 VRS. The dealer has sent me a startup video (as i requested) but I dont know if it sounds 'normal' Does this sound normal to people? Many thanks Sam
  24. Yeh I spoke to Skoda and I also have a print out of the 'digital' history and also some paper service work carried out by a Skoda dealer (none of which show anything about the diff being serviced) the only other invoices the dealer I'm looking at getting the car from (not a Skoda dealer) just have receipts for parts but there's no mention of diff oil/fluid at all.
  25. 3 months warranty with it, service history is a bit scarce if I'm honest, there are receipts for parts i.e. dsg oil but nothing to show the work was done if that makes sense (so could have been done directly by previous owner) No track reviews from what I can find just general reviews when they released the 230 by the looks of it. I'll have to look into the VAQ diff service as that hasn't been mentioned.
