Yes its sat nav. Not sure about screen size. Is the control unit the dvd block that sits in the glove compartment?

The whole unit is broken as its the controller apparently so i cant switch it on etc. My car is a octavia 2014 estate. Ill post a pic of screen tomorrow as car still at garage

Yup plus they didnt check the car til end of day even though they had since first thing so i reckon they think they would say to me "its the controller and needs replaced and it will be £1499 to replace it and its not possible for us to to fit a 2nd hand one" They were quick to do a health check on the car and video it even though i said it wasnt required. Just want a solution as im not technolically minded

My infotainment systems controller has packee up according skoda and they have quoted me £1400 for a new one! Does anyone kniw what i could do ie buy a second hand one and who would fit it as skoda said they wouldnt.

not sure if the op initial comments were tongue in cheek in getting comments about changing a look of a vrs but really after advice on security etc. to me seems a waste of time getting a vrs to change it etc. thieves will steal if needed anyway and tbh its just a car and is replaceable hence why have insurance.

Sorry i should have put that the usb charger wasnt working before. Only touched the fuse relative to the console and it was fine. Off to skoda to get diagonised whixhbis about £80 to do!

Ive checked fuses and seem to be ok. The usb port isnt charging anything now and the skoda welcome isnt coming on.

And the welcome to skoda and badge comes up every so often Yes tried that

I have a octavia 2014 and the infotainment system has suddenly decided not to work. It will come up with skoda sign then screen goes blank! Due a service in 200 miles so is this a ploy by the garages lol

Can i ask why folk would take it off?

Gonna take front off to double check. Dont think ill top it up anyway. On the damaging environment side prob best not driving at all then lol

To be fair he pretty much hinted that he didnt want to top it up.

One of my boot registration lights stopped working properly after i had my car washed at local car wash. As said a thump on the boot makes it work

Hi my octy 2014 1.6tdi air con isnt cold and had it checked today by a car con guy and it appears i have a v small leak and whilst i could top up the gas the guy says i should replace the condensor now as the leak will still be there. Even topping up gas he cant say whether the gas will last through the summer or even the year. He did a digital reading and car was losing psi pressure over the time i was there. Think it was about 1-5psi but those figures mean nothing to a non mechanic minded driver like me! Thoughts? Said it be 385 to do the job

got 2nd opinion at Farmers and turns out i need 3 new tyres. 1 back tyre has splits in side wall of tyre and other front tyre needs replaced. said car would fail MOT with splits in tyre. surprised garage hadnt spotted this!

im taking it for a 2nd opinion anyway only went to dealership cause got a free service plan when bought it. wouldnt say was great service and the lack of effort when they vacumed it (supposedly) makes me wonder what other corners they have cut.

just drivers front side. car been for service and that tyre borderline illegal although skoda guy advised but reception said illegal.

poss asda or blackcircles. have bridgestones potenzas at the moment but could get some Taurus Ultra High Performance for 60 instead of the potenzas at 90. only need the one tyre though

The switch that says OFF and i know air is pushed through the vents by the motion

What i mean is that when i switch the air con off and fan the temperature that comes through the vents is still the same as what it was when the fans were on. I dont understand when its the right temperature within the car when i switch off the air control/temperature i still get the temperature i had set via air con when the sytem is switched off and no fans on. Maybe im not explaining it well.

Hi Ive noticed that when i switch my air con is swtiched off i still get the temperature come through the vents ie when on hot and i switch off hot air continues to come out same if had cold. Didnt do this with previous cars. Any ideas or am i being technically thick lol

interesting video however im glad we dont really domt get that much snow on the roads here however they want ypu to buy 4 tyres rather than 2 so its in their interest to make a video like this

found the off button in the car info screen. just need to get some all season tyres or winter tyres

Well ran winter tyres on front and and summer on back on old car with no problems. Know others here in Scotland who do the same.
