i got my belt changed on my 2001 octavia 1.9tdi at 117000 miles thinking it had been done at 80,000 before i got the car and it turns out that it hadnt been changed so ive been lucky! chatham skoda charged me £250 which was the same as couple of independant garages. mind you i need a new undertray but skoda say i need it and my parents local independant garage say i might not need it!

hi what is a solenoid??? my tailgate on my octy 1.9tdi estate is doing the same except i can open the door at handle but cant use key. im getting movement in the rod and units but door wont lock! have tried wd 40 on the lock. im crap at diy so unsure if i can do it myself! any ideas? any images to show me whats what?

hi did you fix the boot lock as i have the same problem!

have tried cleaning it and using some wd 40 but hasnt done anything! opens and shuts ok so dunno why it wont lock by central locking or by key!

hi. i have a 2001 octavia estate and the boot door is not locking. have tried using both central locking and by key but no joy. have taken trim off to have a look and their is a noise cming from part of the lock system and a some movement from that but no movement in the rod that gos to the lock. has my door lock need replacing or anyone got any ideas? i aint technically/diy minded so be gentle lol

if i was technically minded and knew what was what Id check but im not so hence went to a garage! Kwik fit who tested car quoted me £112 but skoda £58!

hi my 2001 1.9tdi octavia failed its mot because the nearside front suspension armhas excessive play in a ball joint. does anyone know how much i should expect to pay to get this fixed? also said the nearside outer track rod end joint cover is split/missing -- whats that??? thanks guys and girls! my y reg 1.9tdi octavia estate has just done another 10thousand miles and says it needs a service despite it being serviced in June. do I really need to get it serviced now or can i hang off for another few thousand miles?

my y reg octavia thermostat warning light comes on whenever i start car when its 4 degrees C or lower when i start car but doesnt if you restart the car. form what ive heard its a common fault so im not going to go through the expense of replacing my expansion bottle when its really not needed

hi anyone know where I can get a replacement ariel cos someone unscrewed mine and nicked it the swines!!!

my thermostat warning comes up whenever i start up when its 4degrees C or lower but goes off if i restart the car. My coolant level is near the max so is it normal for it to come on at lower temps? it never did previously!

just had my octavia 1.9 tdi y reg serviced after doing 100800 miles and had a nice £700 worth of stuff done to it! however skoda says theres something wrong the air con clutch which will cost £336 to fix the £60 to service the air con! air con doesnt seem cool so hence a prob! should i fix it or get the air con taken out and go back to tradiktional cooling as aint got traditional cooling at the mo? what do u think?

im from edinburgh and have had some annoying problems with my octavia, mainly leaks! do you know a good garage in edinburgh to go to as im not that impressed with my usual garage? cheers

vr- is it easy to take wipers off and take cover off? im not great when it comes to diy! i tend to make things 10x worse!

i cant seem to find the bit it attaches too! car going to skoda as got a wet drivers footwell so they r going to look at rear washer

the stacker is fitted behind the panel. have taken some pics which i will post later! im no mechanic so my descriptions of my problems may not be exact!

cool! where can i locate the plug at the rear wash as cant find it? im not good when it comes to diy mind you! is it easy to solve the leaks in wheel archs if thats the problem?

i had the same problem and by chance found i had a leak in the back of boot where the controller had been damaged by a pool of water! garage had checked everywhere and came across this by chance so id check that possibility?

i have an octavia 1.9tdi y reg (2001) estate. its startiing to drive me mad! the rear wash pip has leaked and thus i dont use the rear wash as the pipe squirts water into the back bit where the cd changer is housed! The drivers footwell is wet and im not sure what is causing it to be so wet! car had been through car wash and its wetter than before! also the air con started fizzing near steering wheel and took fuse out and thats stopped the noise as air con not on! any ideas how to solve this? im thinking of taking it to skoda to get looked at or does anyone know a garage in Edinburgh that would be just as good?? cheers chris
