  1. ive got brittania rescue cover fully comp i would have RAC but someone offered this to me free as they just wrote off their car and didnt need it
  2. A friend of mines dad has a vw caddy and i was stood looking at it for ages one day thinking thats a felicia....i know it is... and turns out i was right!
  3. Sunday afternoon i took a trip from Bridgend in south wales to Leighton Buzzard, just above London (about 160 mils between them), me and my mate Dan went down to take the alternator out of Stunts car and put it in mine then come home again. Simple Leave Bridgend at 2 in the afternoon we did notice that my battery warning light was staying on rather than just flickering when we stopped before we left but we didnt worry about it too much and decided lets go in the felly rather than dans ranault 5 as its a lot comfyer for a long journey Get to LB and after spending about half an hour getting the alternators out of the two cars in the snow we find out they are not the same as Stunts one has power steering whearas mine doesnt and the mounting brackets were different but oh well spent a bit longer putting them back in their original cars and we had a few little bits out of stunts car (headrests, wiper blades and a wheel). We start back on the journey to bridgend Twent mins down the road and the wiper blades start getting slower and slower and my lights are getting dimmer and dimmer then thecar just cuts out and wont start again so were stuck on the side of the road in the snow in the east of england! After a phone call to my breakdown cover and 45 mins of sat under a quilt i just happen to have in my car the first breakdown ruck arrives and takes us to a petrol station down the road, sat there for two hours and another truk arrives who take us to a serice station about an hour away, then another tow truck comes and takes us down the road to their office, then another tow truck takes us all the way home - at 5 o clock in the p!ss!ng morning!!!!! dan had work at 6 and i had college at 9!!!! So after our little experience i have found that the alternator is dead...yet another one to die in my car!!! and i need RAC breakdown cover!!! does anoyone know of anywhere i could get a new alternator cheap on the internet?
  4. i will be down there sunday afternoon and hopefully sort my car out once and for all!
  5. oh yeh the battery warning light is coming on, ive cleaned the throttle body and the probem only started hen i put an alternator i bought from a scrappies in it
  6. ok just sorted some things out and yeh i can get down there sunday afternoon about 6 ish as ive got work in the morning is that still alright? how much do you want for the alternator or would a straight exchange for a slightly faulty but still running one be ok? message me with details of your address or wherever i can get yours off you
  7. yeh my alternator works but im pretty sure that it is what is making the car struggle to keep the revs up and occasionally cut out at traffic lights but ive been using it for months like that so hopeully it will be ok, i will see if i can make it down there and get back to you at the latest tomorrow
  8. when i did my pass plus a few months ago (aww bess im only 18) the guy i did itwith was telling me to stick in the middle lane to save switching in and out and i was thinking wont i just really p!ss everyone else off doing this?
  9. this is going to sound like a really strange thing to ask..i mean i could have tried stealing anything off you..those alloys...but...is there any chance if its a 1.3 mpi that i could have your alternator? because you said the car was in perfect working condition...and well mine isnt, i am willing to pay for it and come and collect it, as long as you dont live like too far away from south wales.
  10. ah thats a bit ****, insurance will try doing you over very well now...last time i looked fellys were valued at less than a grand.... you gonna look for another one now?
  11. From what ve read and what other people say 15's would be the best way to go as 16's are much more expensive to aquire tyres for. Performance Alloys.com - Alloy Wheels & Tyres From The Experts ! Car Alloy Wheels, Replica Wheels, Cheap Alloy Wheels seems to be a good place to go they have a very large selection and it all seems cheap enough, and they can come fitted with tyres if you really want! Personally i dont care much about tyres i just take it down to a local garage and ask for a new tyre on whichever wheel needs it - £15 second hand...cant complain And yes you would need to tell your insurance company about putting alloys on it, unless you can aquire some skoda alloys and then you can claim that you thought the car came with alloys. and welcome to the forum by the way
  12. I used white dove when my car broke down a while back to get the keys coded, they tried charging me an hours labour aftertelling me taht it would only cost half an hours, and one of the keys i gave to them wasnt even coded correctly. A friend of mine refuses to go to white dove either becuase of terriable service
  13. how much do they cost? how easy would it be to get a set?
  14. dammit i was after i set of those clear rear lenses and the week that i dont remember to look on ebay - a set goes! any ideas where i can get more from?
  15. whenever i change gear there is a sound like the wheels spinning but it only happens for about a few seconds every time i change gear...is this the same sort of problem?
  16. i think i might need a new thermometer as the car seems to get hotter when its stationary but when it is moving it seems to get cooler...i assumed this was because my radiator fan broke a while ago (when my battery discharged all its power into all of the engine electrics blowing up the ecu and alternaor as well) and that the only way of cooling down my engine was to go faster and get more air to it at 70mph its not even on the gauge but if i sit in a traffic jam for more than 10 mins its up over 110 degrees does this sound like a thermometer problem or is it probably more to do with my lack of radiator fan?
  17. whenever im changing a tyre using the useless little jack i always when ive taken the old wheel off put it under the car so thatjust incase it does fall off and your leg is under the car it wont do any major damage...dont know if it would protect the car much but it will save you a trip to hospital
  18. i was wondering through halfords yesterday when i came across this book - Amazon.co.uk: Four-stroke Performance Tuning: A Practical Guide: Books: A.Graham Bell i know pretty much nothing about how an engine works, but a friend of mine told me that something like that would be really usefull for my car (1.3 mpi felly) as he loves working on cars (especially mine.... dunno why) does anyone else own it and would recomend it?
  19. any induction kit elemen pretty much would work i think, a friend of mine with a micra has got the element designed for an aston martin attached using bodge tape to a section of piping he bought from homebase which was then bodge taped to the air intake... and that works really well
  20. i did think about the lack of rear seats meaning things would move freely back and forth in the boot so ive made a barrier so that nothing can actually enter the space where the seats used to be, also i very rarely carry anything in my boot as the stuff ratteling around gets on my nerves to be honest the whole idea of improvised rear seats was a bit stupid i know and i would have definatly made sure it was safe before i let anyone use it, thats why i asked around first
  21. yeh thinking about it this morning i think ill just leave it...just gonna have to put them in and out as needed...
  22. a mate of mine rallys in an old micra and he swears by tesco petrol (the 95 octane stuff) and aparantly so does almost everyone else he knows that competes
