Well my list of things i'd like to do/buy now I actually have my Yeti is steadily getting longer and more expensive.. Haldex sieve clean Smart Link activation for Apple CarPlay Towbar Goodyear Vector all season tyres Hatchbag boot liner Thankfully the cheap unbranded roof bars I've removed from the wifes Tiguan fit the Yeti rails, so that saved me some cash.

We've always had fixed towbars as they are cheaper, and to give us some protection from other motorists driving into the back of us.

But no doubt the tow bar prevented any damage to the other car?

Thanks, If you find a number then I'll ring him NW Towbars have also been recommended elsewhere, I rang them the other day and they quoted me fixed towbar £450 with dedicated wiring detachable £600 with dedicated wiring Jut need to ensure the relevant 13pin is connected to power caravan fridge and battery charger.

He probably had bypass wiring done to save a few £ instead of the dedicated electrics

I’m phoning a few places for towbars with dedicated wiring. Not sure if Skoda dealers fit them but they would probably charge a fortune.

It was Skoda Rainsworth Sheffield that quoted me £187. Skoda Hayselden Doncaster where I purchased my Yeti have quoted £146 which aligns with what you paid. A smarter customer than me would have negotiated this with the price of the car, but I didn’t have my thinking head on at the time

ive just phoned my local Skoda dealer and they charge £130 for the activation plus £57.70 Labour, making it £187.70. Think I’ll phone the dealer I bought it from and see if they’ll do it cheaper. Anyone know if it works with Amazon Music on my iPhone, or is it just Apple Music?

It would appear not, when connecting with my iPhone cable the menu says I need an activation key. I'll probably get it done but I'll ring a few dealers to see if theres any price differences.

Finally picked up the Yeti from the dealer today. Wasn't supposed to be getting it until next Friday when the wifes redundancy money gets paid, but with potential lockdown restrictions coming in where I live I wanted to get it sooner rather than later. Thankfully my mother stepped in and lent me the cash to pay for it. I ended up putting some of the purchase price on Skoda/VW finance to get the warranty extended by a year and two services for £79. I will be withdrawing from the finance in a day or two and settling the account. Had a nice drive home in it, now got to read the handbook to learn whats what and get Apple CarPlay working. First expense will be Haldex clean, Skoda have done the 3 yr Haldex service but probably won't have cleaned the sieve. Then I'll be getting a towbar fitted for the caravan, and a Hatchbag boot liner for the dog. 2017 Yeti 2.0L 4x4 150 DSG SE L OUTDOOR DRIVE - PEARL GREY

Winter tires
Thats good to know. Just had a look at their terms and conditions and for my 17" wheels its a £40 Love 2 Shop voucher which I guess is better than being kicked in the teeth..

Winter tires
Thanks John, how can you tell that any of the are Gen-3 please?
-
Winter tires
Then I guess it makes sense to go with the stronger version, thanks. Are the side walls of winter & all season tyres generally softer than normal tyres?
-
Winter tires
Thanks, but when would a Yeti require reinforced tyres? I'll be towing a caravan with mine, and will be carrying loads, but only within the limits of the car.

Just browsing the web for Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons and Halfords have the following options, can anyone explain the differences please?

Jacking up the Yeti
Thanks for the update Yety, I shall bear this jack in mind if mine doesn't come with one.

Jacking up the Yeti
Thanks Yety. I'm interested in knowing if you think that green jack is worth buying please. Do you consider it substantial, or a bit of eBay junk?

Cracked Haldex Unit
Regarding the independent inspection, if you were to drive out of the dealers and something went 'crunch' and the car stopped, I guess it's natural to contact the dealers for them to come get you and rectify it. Would you suggest ringing the dealer straight away but arranging your own recovery for an independent inspection before letting the dealer inspect it?

Cracked Haldex Unit
Some of Johns posts are a little ambiguous, but hopefully all will come clear and it will end well for him.

Punishing you for not having a voluntary fix done?

Cracked Haldex Unit
They probably call it diff oil because Instead of changing it they just shrug their shoulders and say "What diff-erence would it make".
-
Cracked Haldex Unit
But what do they mean by a DPF service? Theres no mention of that on the servicing chart. Anyone know what the Extended Scope means on that service chart?
-

So similar amounts then. Still, wouldn't expect a professional mechanic to be undoing the wrong nuts. Thats why we pay them to do it.
-
Cracked Haldex Unit
I meant diff. I assume there must be similar amounts of oil in the diff and Haldex?
-
Cracked Haldex Unit
Surely if a dealership mechanic made that mistake, he must realise that a hell of a lot more oil drained out (of the DSG) than he put back in (to the Haldex), or is there not much oil in a DSG gearbox? I can understand a DIYer making this mistake, but would expect a mechanic to realise whats just happened. Or am I expecting too much from mechanics?
