  1. Looks great Any chance of some close up shots of the bars please? I'm also interested in knowing if you get any wind noise from them when driving at speed. I find load stops useful when carrying lengths of timber, you can wedge the timber up against the load stops and then slide the other stops up against the other side of the timber, This stops any sideways movement of the tinter. Then just some straps to tighten it down so if doesn't slide forwards/backwards.
  2. Anyone know if the bars I've just posted above have any wind noise? I imagine the WIngbar Evo are quiet, but I do like to use load stops so might go with the rounder shaped bars.
  3. I’d like a set of the Thule Wingbar Evos but frustratingly you can’t fit their load stops to them, and I find load stops extremely useful.
  4. No, I can't say for sure, its just what I found when I was researching roof bars a few months ago. Perhaps they are different feet? I'd probably go with the Wingbar Evo
  5. Another option is the Thule Wingbar Edge 9583 on the same 775 feet. Looks like these bars fit within the roof rails as opposed to hanging over the edge of them. Looks neater but gives less bar space for attaching things to..
  6. Some bars (bars go across the car, the ones attached to your car and run along it's length are rails) have a channel running down the top of them so you can slide a T-bolt down it which is used to attach things like roof boxes, bike carriers etc. The rubber strip pulls out, you slide the T-bolt along and then cut the rubber strip and fill in the gaps so that wind doesn't whistle inside the channel. Random Google image of a typical roof bar...
  7. I think he's referring to any groove that runs down the length of the bars, where they provide a rubber infiltration strip to insert.
  8. 127cm or longer springs to mind. You can go longer to give more surface area to put things on. You don’t want them overhanging the widest part of the car incase they clip a pedestrian as you scream past in your awesome Yeti. some notes I made of suitable bars when researching them... Thule Rapid 775 footpack Thule Wingbar Evo 127 bars (replaces 969) Thule Wingbar Edge 9583
  9. I live in Sheffield and If things don’t work out with your garage I can recommend a good VW independent garage in Sheffield. They were the only ones that knew about the need to clean the Haldex filter and took before and after photos for me. Non of the other places I visited knew anything about cleaning the filter.
  10. Towed my caravan for the first time today, I was very impressed with how it did it with ease. Equally as good as the VW Tiguan it replaces. Yetis make surprisingly good tow cars... 2017 SKODA YETI 2.0L TDI 4x4 OUTDOOR SE L DRIVE TDI SCR DSG
  11. I have a towbar for towing my caravan, but I also use it for carrying my ebike using a Thule Easyfold XT2
  12. By the way, at what point would the diff oil need changing, as I can't find any reference to it on any service schedules?
  13. Sadly it's not surprising that garages are making these kind of mistakes. When I wanted my Haldex oil changed and pump cleaned I visited a few independent VW garages, only to find most of them didn't have a clue what I was on about. Eventually I found one garage that knew all about the issue, so I had them do the work. When dropping the car off I commented that I daren't trust myself not to drain the diff by mistake, and were pleased they were doing the work for me. They cleaned the pump and took before and after photos for me. Even so, when driving out of the garage I was concentrating on listening for any tell tale noises as a sign that the diff oil had been drained by mistake. I daren't even have the car radio on for the first few days, so paranoid was I. If I wasn't the type of person who researches almost everything, I wouldn't;t have know about the need for the pump tp be cleaned, and like so many others I would perhaps have suffered from Haldex failure.
  14. It's only on forums like these that you discover such things, I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise. The salesman certainly didn't suggest it. Not sure if they get any commission, or lose commission when customers withdraw from it?
  15. I put £3k on their finance, and withdrew from it a couple of days later, settling with a pound or two in interest. Doing that gave me an additional years Skoda Used Car Warranty, and allowed me to buy the £79 service plan. I learnt about it on here.
  16. The service schedule I was referring to was just the one below. I paid a small amount of my Yeti purchase price on VW Finance, and paid £79 for a two year service plan. I then backed out of the finance arrangement. I expected the service plan to come with lots of exclusions, effectively making it worthless, but to my surprise it covered the full 40k mile standard service (but not the DSG or aircon)
  17. Had the 40k mile service yesterday, including the DGS and aircon. Just had an embarrassing moment on the phone with the dealer. Looking at the recommended service schedule it states the spark plugs should be changed. I realised that nowhere on my paperwork did it refer to having this work done. I got straight on the phone to them to ask about it, and their reply was "Your car's a diesel Sir". I tried to cover my embarrassment by saying that I wondered if the glow plugs counted, but I think they saw straight through me.
  18. Got it booked in for next week. When I bought the Yeti 2nd hand last year I put a small amount on VW Finance (which I withdrew from the following day) which allowed me to but their £79 service plan, which covers the next two services. This covers the normal part of the service, but not the extended part needed for the 40k mile service. I just have to pay for the DSG oil change £220, and air con service £115. They mentioned there's a newer type of air con service which gives a better and more efficient air con, and more environmentally friendly, Anyone know anything about this?
  19. Having been out of stock for the last century, I finally got to pick this up today. It has 5 x memory settings, so I can store the torque settings for my car and caravan. Easy to read display, much better than my normal wrench with its difficult to read the markings. Fairly easy to set up once you've read the instructions a couple of times. Can set it to read the actual torque you're applying at any given time, or to just keep the highest torque setting displayed you've applied. Flashes amber whilst applying torque, beeps when you're nearing your set pressure, then a solid beep and green light when that figure is reached. Shame it doesn't come with a few different sized sockets, though there is a cut our in the moulded case for me to keep a few.
  20. I recently got the Adblue warning on my Yeti. I changed the units measurement from miles to KM and the warning changed from gallons to litres..
  21. With regards to what is required for the 4 year/40k mile service, I'm working from this diagram. It had already had the 3 yr Haldex service done before I bought it, though this would have been just oil change. I had the Haldex pump removed, cleaned and new oil at a local VAG garage recently.....
  22. If that 500 mile rule applies, then I should be ok, assuming I can get it serviced in the next 2 weeks. It came with one year Skoda used car warranty as I purchased it from a Skoda dealer. I then took out VW finance which upon the payment of £79 gave an additional years warranty, and two years servicing, though I expect that just applies to the oil/inspection part of the service.
  23. Are there mileage restrictions with Skoda warranty? Does say a 40k male service need to be carried out before 40k miles to preserve the warranty? My 2017 Yeti came with two years Used Skoda Warranty and is now due its 4 year/40k mile service. We recently had to use it for an unexpected long distance journey, adding quite a few more miles than otherwise expected, taking it very close to 40k miles. Does the service need to be carried out before it reaches 40k miles?
  24. Knowing my luck, mine will fail at 4 yrs 11 months
  25. Thanks, I'll make a note of that for when my 5yr service is due next year. Is there any advantage to having the cam belt done early, say 4 years? I realise this will bring the subsequent changes forward by a year.
