Real world mpg for the 1.5 engine?
I have a 1.5 DSG Scala and I do 15,000kms per year. Mostly work commute which is a mix of motorway and congested traffic, plus 2 adults in the car. My long term average is 5.6L/100Kms. I'm mostly under 6L/100 on average for a normal working week and on road triips away or clear motorway I can get 5L/100. Best is 4.5l/100 I think that is about 50+ UK MPG long term? Im really happy with the economy. My Prius owing colleague is impressed

Wiper relay clicking.
yep, I hear it too but only if it is quiet (like if im stopped or im driving slowly). I don't notice it otherwise if the rain is heavier or there is road noise.

Škoda Scala Tyre pressure
Its the same sticker on my 1.5 TSI. We use PSI (one of the few things not metric for some reason here). So I put in 34 PSI on the 17inch wheels - runs nicely on that.

wipers juddering
So my third visit into the dealer for this issue . They replaced the blades again and already replaced the arm, but this time they also polished the glass with a compound to smooth it out. They said sometimes as part of manufacture process the screen is not 100% smooth and the polishing process should sort it. They tested after for quite a while in their wash bay with plain water and the problem was gone. Apparently they have seen it happen before. The glass seems clearer now, but the proof will be driving in the rain which I haven't done as yet, So I'll see if it lasts. Hopefully this time it is fixed

1.5 DSG issues
I've had the 1.5 DSG since March, with 8500kms never had an issue. I feel its a great gearbox and works well with the engine. Especially in Sport Mode The Turbo lag is fine, power is good and im currently running 5.8L/100kms which is awesome.

Basic LED vs Full LED
While I do not know the answers to your questions, I have the Basic LED in my Scala. I find that, as I live in a city, the Basic LED covers 99% of my driving. It is rare that I use the front fog lights or high beam. It does look quite different with the high beams on as you see both the white led light and the yellower light from the other bulbs. So Full LED does look better when all the lights are on. Otherwise, the LED headlights are great - very bright and clear on the road ahead, and the daytime running lights look nice too. LEDs last a lot longer so should not be much of a concern, but I imagine they would cost a lot to replace (luckily the 5 year warranty is standard here). The other bulbs look like normal bulbs to replace, so much cheaper.

Looking to buy, SE v SE L
The Scala has 467L of boot space - about the biggest there is in this segment of car (other that the new Civic). Its shape too is really practical. I find the fuel costs on my 1.5 TSI Scala excellent - Im getting 5.7L/100Kms (50 UK mpg?) after 4000kms mostly work commuting, which is amazing for a car with quite impressive power.

I don't find the lane assist much of an issue. While you can't permanently turn it off it doesn't exaclty push you off the road either. I suggest you try it when test driving and decide for yourself but other than the permanent disable option its much the same as other cars with the option. Android Auto works well and I use it all the time.

My new Scala - brief early thoughts
Congratulations on your new Scala. Im enjoying my 1.5 and its surprising power, and low fuel cost. Its a common complaint - even in the reviews - about how the lane assist cant be turned off permanently. I live with it on and I'm working out how to avoid triggering it (maybe thats a good thing?) At least the stop/start disable button is easy to access. The USB slots are good for future proofing connectivity. My current and former phone are usb-c and came with an adapter. I've found it's actually harder to find a usb-c to usb-c cable (specially a short one) to use instead of the adapter, but I've managed to. My problem is the tray for the phone doesn't fit a larger smartphone well when a cable is connected. It cannot sit fully in the tray The cable ends up over the edge and gets bent - over time I can see this wearing out the cable and damaging it. First World problems huh.. Cant comment on the Admundsen as we dont get that here (only Swing and Bolero). I live constantly on Android Auto anyway. With the integrated Spotify and TuneIn Radio I can play anything, including radio, all voice controlled, which works well.

wipers juddering
Sadly not the same for me - and this is with the dealer cleaning it - while also deep cleaned it only lasted a short while and the juddering is back. So new blades are due in this week for me to swap out. Will see how those go.

Hidden USB-C port in rear-view mirror
I read a comment from someone saying there is a hidden usb-c port in the rear view mirror housing so you can connect a dashcam. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? I dare not try to dissasemble mine to check unless its true and I get an idea how to do it. I cant find info online about it. It would be nice not to run a cable from the other usb ports. I've asked the poster about it and will await reply too

New Skoda Connect App - wonder if the Scala is now supported
I received this email recently about a new Skoda Connect App coming soon. The previous app - One App doesnt work with the Scala (and the Scala is not listed as supported anyway in the app). I emailed the developers some time ago but didn't get a response after I gave them more info they requested. I wonder if the Scala is going to be supported in this new verision coming in a week or so.... I cant find info if it is or not. Dear Customers, We would like to inform you that the ŠKODA One App mobile application, which can be used during a SmartLink connection between your smartphone and vehicle, will be merged into a new version of the ŠKODA Connect App, as such the ŠKODA One App will no longer be available after 06.05.2020. By this date, you will be able to download the new ŠKODA Connect App from Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS), to enable you to continue using the SmartLink services in your vehicle. Please note, that your data (such as Driving Logbook data) will be migrated to the new ŠKODA Connect App and therefore will be available for you as long as you log in to the new App with the same user account. If you are already a ŠKODA Connect App user, after downloading the new version from Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS), you will be able to benefit from using both ŠKODA Connect services and the SmartLink functions previously available via One App, in one place. Your rights will not be impacted. More information regarding personal data processing find here. We hope that the change will bring you more convenience and comfort, with a new design of the functions to enhance the user experience and ensure that you will enjoy using the new ŠKODA Connect App. Your ŠKODA Connect Team
