  1. Harris nice to see progress, keep up the posting and the piccies..
  2. Done exactly what you are are suggesting, swmbo's vRS for a Monte (105 diesel). as suggested totally different cars so a comparison is unfair. power wise the 105 goes surprisingly well though not to vRS standards but it rolls along quite nicely. Not quite the kit as a vRS but ok for a small car. The change was not as bad as I thought it might be. Swmbo likes it so is happy.
  3. Picked up swmbo's Monte Tech today, 13 plate 105 diseasal hatch in white. Pretty standard though its got the free left bias steering mechanism fitted. A couple of jobs planned for it, uprated lower engine mounting bush ordered as the engine is slopping about a bit. Switched the DRL's back on, so the other motorists can see when swmbo is about to hit them. Pretty clean, though will get it valeted before it get's woman'd. Might get some leather thrown at the interior to lift it a little and easier to clean. Swmbo wants an armrest and cruise. hey ho.. if I get a chance, I'll put an image up tomorrow before its wrecked.
  4. ...I think it just has.. Locked to prevent a descent into multiple pages of irrelevant, off topic, post count drivel.
  5. Brill, do you fancy a drinkie on me??.. need the locking on the new addition reset to one touch, if thats ok Martin?
  6. There's quite a prolific number of posts /threads regarding other car marques, using the the Golf R as the most recent example. I'm sure there's been other car topics that have dominated also in the past. Whilst I've got a diverse collection of cars I tend not to post about them in too much detail as this is predomnantly a Skoda forum and therefore I post within more relevent communities, as I thought this was forum etiquette. Just to make it clear I'm not adverse to the Golf or other marques (I have a MK7 GTD myself) but wouldn't it be more appropriate to post on a golf or vw or other marques forum? I've no view either way if the consensus says ok or not ok thats fine I don't tend to read the threads anyhow as they are repetative and pretty boring. Just interested to hear others views.
  7. I'd go back to a DSG at the drop of a hat, the CR/DSG combo is spot on. Just couldn't get a deal on one in the Golf.
  8. Turbo's have a built in wastegate which opens to control the turbine speed and prevent overboosting the engine when spooled up. They open to keep the turbo at its predefined maximum boost pressure and are controlled by a valve and the ecu. It works by bleeding off excessive exhaust pressure via a gate rather than running through the turbine Usually the excessive exhaust goes through the waste gate and into the exhaust. A screamer pipe is a short pipe from the waste gate directly venting to atmosphere rather than connecting through the exhaust system. A dump valve or BOV is a totally separate system. When you take your foot off the throttle on a turbo engine, the engine slows down and doesn't use the air which is already pressurised by the turbo in the inlet manifold. This causes back pressure which stops the turbo from spinning. The dump valve relieves that pressure stopping the turbo from stalling thus spinning up quickly when you accelerate eg when changing gear. The aftermarket BOV vents to air hence the toooshhing sound whereas oem kit recircs back to the inlet pre turbo. There's quite a bit more involved technically especially the boost control systems and effects on fuelling though that's esentially it. Hope it makes sense.
  9. Deposit taken, provisionally sold pending viewing this weekend.
  10. No Problem Dom, as mentioned I have a current enquiry and I'll let you know one way or the other as and when I know. Cheers Mike
  11. Cheers Jon, yep, you never know, though I might have a good idea.. no doubt he'll be back to tell me in a somewhat unsubtle way soon lol. Had a few via pm.. lucky I'm bored.. If you are thinking of purchasing this fine car, can you ensure that you are old enough to hold a full UK driving licence, have the full asking price available and can afford the insurance, If you need to ask your mums and dads permission to stay out late on a non school day, then I'm afraid this car probably isn't for you.
  12. Difficult to glean from your post if you are interested or not.. hey that's the fun of selling I suppose, just to decipher your post, the car's not really your thing but you could suffer it if you can knock me on the price....and you might even put yourself out this weekend to do so....??? Am I warm? pm sent.
  13. Needs a bit more thinking through Steve, you've missed a key point here... you don't actually pay up front for anything.. anyhow I'll throw you one back for the privelige of my company and for the air you breathe and for...lol In all seriousness I'm looking to book a venue at quite considerable cost for James 18th Birthday, I'm limited on maximum numbers and would be peeved if someone said they were attending and didn't turn up without a valid reason (or a doctors certificate lol) The main reason is someone else could come in their place. the saving grace I have is the venue requires you to have entry tickets which are only available a week or two before the event. so I would want a response and committment before the tickets are sent and them returned if you are no longer able to attend. I wouldn't look to recoup costs thats down to me and am with Steve on this, its not done in the spirit of a party, if you expect attendee's to pay. If we go ahead with James 18th there should be a few invites for the maidstone possey, though Steve, I expect a hefty deposit before I send yours out. (note - no emoticons, crap version of explorer rather than lack of humour)
  14. Wecolme, the meet is at Notcutts, thread here. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/340635-maidstone-meet-feb-2015/ come along and Beryl will pop your cherry for you..
  15. As mentioning in the ad it does need some bits sorting and yellow isn't everyones cup of tea either, certainly not with the dealers. Therefore is priced realistically and accordingly. I'm not into selling either so want a hassle free sale at the asking price.
  16. Resurrecting this thread as I have now bought a replacement car all bar the final tyre kicking at the weekend. The car is pretty much the same as described plus a few other bits as it is a little older than previously. Just had an MOT done, advisory suggests new front discs and pads in the near future. There is a slight ripple in the nearside rear 3/4 panel not sure if it there in these photo's, you wouldn't notice unless you were aware if it. I believe one one next doors fence panels blew out and hit against the car causing the damage. The boot gasket needs replacing as it currently leaks (known fault) New fuel pump/filter and cam sensor fitted. All 4 alloys have kerbing and need refurbing (wifes car..) Mileage is 51,000 I haven't really got the time to address the faults so have adjusted the price accordingly to sell. £5250. The car will be on sale at this price until the weekend then it is going to a friends garage to complete the work as listed above and sell on for a much greater amount.
  17. lol, he could apply it using one of your butt plugs....
  18. Probably just needs a quick refresh,.. rings and bearings.. was half tempted myself along with the turbo upgrade, cheap horsepower. All the best with the loom swap, mahoosive job that one Richard.
  19. ....my mate said.... ....and...... :sun: ....google.... ...if...but..and.......triple 8's.. :moon: ....the nuts...... HTH
