1K0 953 549 AG is the steering controller I've fitted yet whatever I play with in VCDS, they never work. I had them working with another controller, but the steering sensor wasn't part of the module so the cruise didn't work. From all I can see, this module should let me use the MFSW yet clearly it doesn't I have the required wiring. Only other electronic mod I've done is fit a later gateway module to allow use of the RCD330. Could someone with a pre-fl share the module they have? Kinda tired of having the buttons and not using them!

Hi everyone I want to programme a new key, but don't have the SKC, I have VCDS though. Is there anyone in or near Leeds who can do this for me? I don't really mind programming it myself, but the SKC I need to pull and been putting this off far too long. Cheers

The pin layout on 1K0953549CH is different to the original, specifically the cables going to the stalk. I have just refitted the original control module and alas, cruise works again. So now I'm wondering does the SW matter? I think perhaps my module is for cars with the standalone cruise stalk. It's difficult to find highline modules for this, hence opting for CH as they're easy to buy.

To stop battery drain on RCD330 headunit I fitted a later gateway module. To get the steering wheel buttons to work I changed the steering wheel control module. Now everything works but getting the cruise fault. It's possible the pin layout is different and the steering control module doesn't see the cruise as in later cars it had its own stalk

Hi all, I've recently fitted MFSW and the Steering Wheel Control Module which works with the RCD330 and the steering angle sensor. The only thing that has decided not to work is the cruise control, despite me having it selected in the steering module. Has anyone experienced this before? Cruise worked fine before changing this module. My only "solution" is to remove the MFSW and go back to how the car was originally as I'd rather have cruise than MFSW. I can get a VCDS log in around an hour. Cheers

I fitted 1K0907530S to mine and it programmed good. I think you're just looking for the age of part being newer than the Octavia.

I don't think there is an easy way to reset the G85 sensor. I drove 100 miles with my steering heavy, and only after following the Ross-Tech guide to a T did it finally go out. I've heard the ABS sensors can throw the steering assist out, are you sure it's not just coincidence?

Confirmed with RCD330, too?

I've put an order in for 1K)953549CH. I will update once fitted to see if this solves the problem, which would mean MFSW + RCD330 requires LIN 2.0.

Interesting observation. The wheel is from a 2006, the car is a 2007, with an updated gateway to stop battery drain with the RCD330. My brother has a 2010 Golf I can plug into to see what that has, as that has the RCD510 + MFSW which should broadly be similar. But I have never seen anyone mention the steering module can cause this, in any thread I've read about the RCD330, but it could be just that.

Does 01317 have any significance? I can't seem to be able to modify anything in "Radio" now, at all. Previously I obviously could as I've fitted the RCD330 headunit and had to disable backup camera. The button on the wheel to light it up works, so it is registering. I don't know where to look for the other buttons in VCDS?

Thanks for the reply Only when following the rosstech guide could I get G85 to calibrate. It has just sorted itself now, but took me a few days. So I'm back to where I was originally, functioning car without MFSW. They light up, they're getting power, so can only assume it's a software config issue but I find it strange using the wrong module without G85 the buttons did work. I'm not really in the mood to disconnect the battery again and do the G85 party but I can say that the settings I'm using now are the same I was using then. The amendments I'm trying to make to the gateway module I have changed before, so it is strange they've stopped working now. Anyway, I'll see if I can check the blocks now. Cheers

Hi Important numbers are in original post. Original is a midline with steering angle sensor built-in, I can confirm exactly tomorrow but not sure is any relevance as it didn't have the functionality for the MFSW. With the lights on the wheel lit up, it's obviously getting power. Do you know where I can check operation of the buttons? I haven't touched the gateway module between changing the steering controller so can't see it being that. The steering module settings mirror those I configured the "wrong" module to accept, and the only thing that didn't work was the steering angle, and cruise didn't work. Cruise works now, can't get my wheel to find centre and the buttons don't work. Tempted to go back to standard for now. Or would be helpful if someone with MFSW could share settings with me. Thanks

If you want that readout, I need to unplug the battery and connect the old steering controller (original). It can be done just takes a bit of time but if you think it's necessary I'll do it. Just amazed things aren't working right now.

Hi I haven't / didn't save anything from the previous setup. The settings I have for the controller are as they were when the buttons did work. The wheel I am using is a MFSW w/o cruise or voice control (cruise & trip computer are stalk operated). Wheel, airbag, controller and wiring all from the same donor car, a 2006 Octavia. If possible, could you tell me what getting that print-out would do? I have only modified settings within the steering controller. Cheers

I've fitted a MFSW and the steering control module + wiring to a 2007 Octavia. I bought 1K0-953-549-CF originally but this didn't have the G85 sensor built-in, so now I bought 1K0-953-549-AQ which was fitted to the same year car as mine. With AQ cruise didn't work, but I did get the buttons working. Now I can't for the life of me programme the buttons to work? They light up but I've selected everything in VCDS I can see. Also, the wheel feels heavier, but I haven't calibrated it yet properly, and it is showing position in VCDS. Can anyone help me? Have I done something drastically wrong? I thought AQ would solve my problems! Cheers

I bought 1K0-953-549-CF which at first glance seemed perfect but the significance of "steering angle sensor" now means something to me. This part is listed as "No" here, where my old one (I believe to be -F), says "Yes". I get "00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85): No Signal/Communication" in VCDS. Now, am I forced into buying another Steering Controller, something like "BD", or can I change something cheaper, or a software change to get the sensor to show? I'm shocked at the cost of this module so would rather avoid purchasing another. TIA

This is regarding a VW rather than SKoda, but the part is the same. 65 plate Scirocco, under 40k. Pedal has the spring but then goes to the floor (no pressure). The car sees it's on the floor so it will start. Why is this part plastic now, other than cost saving? I slowly feel VAG are shooting themselves in the foot. I'm seeing more problems on newer cars than ever before. Has anyone any other suggestions for what the problem might be, although it looks like the slave.

Not cool man. I've long thought Xenon's are too bright, but I've just got a pre-fl and I'll be fitting Osram's recommended above you. You shouldn't fit lights you shouldn't. You're on a car forum. You should be sending the right messages, not encouraging people to blind other drivers. Xenon's are already bright enough. If you want brighter lights, stop driving because clearly your eyesight is blown.

I read somewhere you need a new steering wheel loom for this upgrade? But from this thread just need the wheel, controller and VCDS?
