Jacking car up & removing wheel
I always slacken off nuts bolts when the car is still firmly on the ground. Will keep in mind the tip about the handle. Mind you, I’m going to get a local garage to put the tyres on the rims, so might get them to swap the summers for winters on the car at the same time. Not worried re being to hot for winters, lots of peeps run around in winters all summer as it never gets that warm up here.

Or apply weight in the form of vertical loading, ie stand on wheel brace.

Jacking car up & removing wheel
Also ordered one of these wheel fitting guide tool thingies. And seeing Boxer Boy’s pics reminds meM got to find my old extendable wheel wrench after taking it out my last car. The wheels have been on since the car was built 13 months ago so hopefully the wheels will come off ok and that the bolts have not been over torqued.

New owner with a load of questions.
Minor update time. Change of plan re all season tyres, have gone for full winters and have these ready to go on. Been a fan of Conti winters tyres for a while, will see how these do in the white stuff in a couple of months. Was after a couple of spares to carry in the car, dependant on what was on the car, one winter tyre and one summer, when I came across this set for sale. Worth a bit of a drive, well a lot of a drive at 600 miles, to get them. Now I have 2 spares (tyres on order) and two spare spares! Now I must stop looking for wheels!

Battery failure in Keyfob
Many thanks, that’s good to know.

Battery failure in Keyfob
As a minor aside, anyone know the battery type for the pauper spec “standard” key, the one where you have to press a button to lock or unlock the door? The manual just says “the battery” and doesn’t specify the type.

Bosch wiper blade fitting
And ........... ............. what a difference! In everything from light drizzle to absolutely slinging it down they were superb. Well worth the change, even if it is a bit annoying chucking the nearly new ones in the shed. Just waiting on Amazon delivering the rear one and the transformation will be complete.

Bosch wiper blade fitting
Just fitted a set of A864S blades from Amazon. Easy fit, only issue the driver’s side blade wouldn’t budge until I made sure the blade was fully parallel with the arm. Straight click in and no adapters, just need some rain to see how they are. Will report back then. 👍

AdBlue
Good advice.👍 Anyone got a handle on how many thousand miles per, say, 10 litre AB container? My car started at 5,500 “range” when new and has been counting down pretty faithfully, but no idea how much was in the AB tank when I collected her.

AdBlue
Bit of a thread resurrection but ....... ........ this is my first car with AdBlue. There are a few filling stations on my regular(ish) travels that have adblue dispensers in the HGV sections. I always worry re HGV dispensers as they are meant for delivering a lot of stuff quickly, will I end up with adblue everywhere if it doesn’t shut down quickly enough? Or is the best approach aim to put so much in (what the car says is max) and just squeeze the handle mega gently? Thinking of that as an alternative to getting a 10ltr container with a spout.

Car emergency brakes in reverse when not needed
Found I also have this when I tried to reverse out of my drive and the car detected the scrawniest little piece of vegetation that was hanging over the wall. I thought I’d hit the wall but when I looked I was about 2ft from it. Will see if I can switch it off when I’m driving tomorrow, and will get the snips out to deal with the triffid!🌱

Karoq 18" Wheels - What pressures do you run your tyres at ???
For me (running at full weight pressures) is prob a habit from my Disco days, I tended to run them at max weight as it was a right PITA hiking pressures up and down when I’d have a load of camping stuff in the back. The ride on 40psi is firm but not too firm, will try 35psi sometime to see how it is. I know higher pressures are supposed to give better mpg figs but not sure it makes any appreciable difference.

Karoq 18" Wheels - What pressures do you run your tyres at ???
OK, not 18s, but I run my 17s with standard Bridgestones at 40psi all round and haven’t spun the wheels so far. MrsDSL, however, has managed to do it twice. 🤔

Tyre Pressure Monitoring - accuracy?
Had the same last w/end on the M74, all tyres spot on 40psi when measured. I did wonder if it was a gremlin in the machine as it happened when I was flicking through a menu using the steering wheel right thumb wheel.

Reliability
As a long time LR driver (30 years or so) that has finally had enough, I’ll happily take 13th. The Disco3 online community celebrated big time when LR was promoted from last place to 3rd from last. Looks like they’re going to be celebrating relegation, again.🤣🤣

1 Litre SE 2000 Mile review
Will give the screen a clean. The car was sat in a compound for 11 months so screen prob needed a good clean before I picked it up, prob with a load of gunk.

1 Litre SE 2000 Mile review
Re wipers, also have found them awful, any suggestions re better blades or does that not make any difference?

Fuel consumption.
Did a long haul from Highlands to just south of London on Saturday. Used the 390 miles stretch from Lesmahagow to the destination to get a handle on max mpg. Cruising mostly at 60mph on CC, with some roadworks and the usual 15 minutes of stop/start traffic on the M25, though my stop/start stayed switched off. Mpg was 58.4 from brim to brim. 2.0TDi 4x4 DSG. Overall mpg is 52.44 over 1,423 miles and mixed driving. Pretty happy with that. 👍

Fan running on
Not too worried re oil dilution, though will check the oil level more often than the once in a while, if I remember. This was the first time I’ve seen this, on this car, why don’t manufacturers put a little “regen in progress, keep driving if possible” light up? Most of my trips are long haul, not stop/start, so hopefully less of an issue. On the plus side, did 58.4mpg (actual, not trip comp) and the AdBlue range has finally moved, dropping from 5500 miles from new to 5000 miles after 1500 miles. 👍

Fan running on
Cheers, that sounds spot on. I hadn’t thought of DPF regen. 👍

Fan running on
On Saturday I did a slow (60 - 65mph on cruise) long haul, 570 miles, which ended with the usual 15 minutes in stop start traffic around the M25, back to “speed” for 10 miles or so then a few miles local driving to home. Stopped in the drive and the front end was radiating heat and the fan ran on for a good few minutes. The temp was ~25c so reasonably warm but not hot, oil temp was showing at 99c. Is this fan running on normal in what wasn’t exactly demanding driving/extreme conditions? Thoughts?
