  1. Was indeed, I got thrown a bit by the 17” for winters. Still getting my head around the various Skoda wheels that can be used on Karoq. I’ve managed to get a set of Ratikons for winters but am struggling to get two more rims so I have a spare for Summers and a spare for winters. You can never have enough wheels. 👍
  2. Daft question but what type are those? Rapids?
  3. I have my AC on all the time and it still cuts the engine. Until I switch it off that is, usually on the first cut out. 👍
  4. My old car, 13 year old Jazz, hasn’t been regassed in it’s life, same for SWMBO’s 9 year old Jazz. This “all cars loose x percent a year so you need a regass, sir”, to me, is a load of balldocks. Just another ruse to part the customer from his/her hard earned for naff all benefit.👍
  5. Washer jet?

@e-Roottoot Nice looking Defender.👍. Hope that’s a bald spot in the snow under the rear diff, not the orange beast marking its territory.😉
  8. Only Sportlines or do other trim levels have this?

Prob up to Freelander 2 level. 👍 My version of off-roading in a LR was a bit more up to date and loved it when we would happily go where tricked up Defenders just spun out. All in total comfort. Not sure I’ll be doing anything like this in Skippy. My serious off-roading days finished when this car’s engine destroyed itself 2,300 miles from home in NW Norway. 😢
  10. I always think this is a means of ripping customers off. I’ve owned cars with AC since mid 90s and never had any issues with AC, apart from replacing a condenser on a Disco3 which wouldn’t have been prevented by any amount of servicing. What’s been wrong with your Karoq?

Certainly this vid shows its more than good enough off-road for me. Off the tarmac from 8:00 onwards. My only question is whether the setting changes on the “higher” models makes any real difference over my basic SE with no buttons to press. I’ll be looking to use mine in Highland winters and have a spare set of alloys waiting on full winter tyres, plus light off-road in likes of Pyrenees.

Yes, got the spare kit with jack etc & skinny spare so was thinking about some blocks on top of the polystyrene to get to the right height, plus trying to get the support in the middle of the wheel. Mind you, that centre wheel well could be very useful for a recovery rope & jump leads. I’ve got a second set of 17” rims but haven’t got as far as putting rims on, will bung on the skinny spare and have a play with a full sized rim & tyre. 👍

Might need a bit of luck!👍 We regularly do an almost 600 mile haul from Highlands to S of London, setting off at stupid o’clock on a Sunday, so the nightmare scenario is picking up a puncture 50 miles in. That trashes my day and would have to try and sort out a tyre in Perth, on a Sunday, so more like trashing 2 days and needing an overnight stay. We’re also planning a few long haul trips in far flung corners of Europe next year, when hopefully travelling will be more normal. I haven’t taken a wheel off and just laid it in the boot to see if it fits, will need to do that first. Not sure if taking the skinny spare out and seeing how I can fit it in that space would work.

I’ve got to try and fit a full sized wheel in the 4x4 boot as a spare. I know it will take up space but I’m OK with that, I don’t fancy being in the back of beyond relying on the skinny spare to do the several hundred mile haul home. Unfortunately no tie down eyes in the boot area so can’t just ratchet strap a wheel/tyre combo in there. 😕

Deffo smaller than the standard SE 4x4 17” tyres. 6.7% difference in rolling circumference, not sure how that would work with the diff for any distance.
  16. Thought that might be the case. 😕
  17. It’s on the to-get list. One month free is pretty useful to do any mods & just leave them in place. 👍 The other mod I’m looking at is to see if I can retro fit drive mode selection. Switch seems readily available but not sure whether I’d be able to enable it with a Carista. Bit nervous about bricking a new car, MrsDSL would not be happy! Any idea if upgrading things like that something main dealers can do officially? Switch looks easy enough to change:
  18. It does indeed help. Will have a look at that. 👍
  19. I’ve got a “basic” 2.0 TDi 4x4 SE Karoq, it was a pre-registered car so no chance to add any options so I was wondering if anything system wise can be added with the appropriate diagnostic tool. Specifically I was wondering if the 4x4 mode setting screen can be added, with or without the switch by the park brake button assuming the wiring is under the blanking plate. Anything else that can be added?
  20. Cheers. Used to nervously wield a widget on my last cars (Disco 3s & 4s) and manages to avoid turning it into a brick, will have a look at what’s available for Skippy. 👍
  21. What “widget” would you need to change to Scandinavian lights, or can it be done via a menu?

I’m new to Skoda, used to LR way of doing things but not VAG’s. It’s al a steep learning curve. Strange this site doesn’t give the 5w 30 LL 3 spec. https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/collections/skoda-oils-fluids/skoda-karoq-2017-to-present

Sorry, didn’t think to give age but can see how it’s important. It was registered end of last year, and was built mid July 19. Deffo 504/507 according to the sticker on the crash panel. Good to hear the blocks don’t soak up oil. Will get shopping for a litre of 0w 30 FS III. Many thanks.👍
