  1. No solution but I left it coded and it all works fine. Suppose its nicer not having a green warning light constantly shining in my face
  2. That could be deactivated with adaptation/coding so you have to press the button for park assist
  3. My brother in law has a Merc CLS. Fully kitted out and he said his is the same. I feel much better about it!
  4. Something explored deeply in the octavia forum. Not much succès unfortunately
  5. Nothing wrong with the function of them. Just need to bring the beam level up slightly.
  6. Hard to say as at town speeds there are usually street lights, I even tried some ‘european’ speeds on the motorway and they didn't go any further in case it was a kph coding issue
  7. Thats poor, might complain vehicle is not as advertised!
  8. Which screws do I need to turn to lift the dipped beam up a little? Skoda have been conservative with the height setting as usual, at motorway speeds my fancy headlights were shining a mere 2 car lengths ahead. Im assuming with the adaptive function it is similar to the old xenon types where I need to turn off the adaptive part before doing so. Disclaimer, I will check with my friends garage that they are still within spec (when I get chance) and will be hyper aware of oncoming people flashing me if they are still too high and will back them off accordingly.
  9. Driving my new karoq sportline at night on the motorway for the first time and noticed the passenger mirror does not dim when a car with bright lights is behind. Not the end of the world as its mostly outside of my field of view but just annoying that it doesnt dim and by contrast cars appear very bright in it. Is this a coat cutting thing or have they forgot to fit one to mine in the factory? Wouldnt be surprised as I got a sportline with 18s…
  10. If they are the adaptive type like in the octavia. I agree with the **** poor performance at UK speeds. There is a section detailing switching off the poor weather option/rain option whilst still retaining adaptive light functions. Perfectly legal and safer as you dont have to drive above 68 to get the car to light up the road in front of you.
  11. Back again after a short break with a VWCaddy (sleeping in a van is cool but as a daily they get a bit wearisome) The Karoq is such an improvement over the octavia. The refinement, exists, pretty much every toy available and a very solid version of the Mib infotainment! Yes my needs changed somewhat and the octavia is no longer big enough.
  12. Powerred replied to davidj241's topic in Skoda Karoq
Usually Ive been messing with long coding or whatever and turn it off (to save battery) and completely forget 🤔
  13. Used to have an Octavia VRS with lane keeping, allowed me to code full beam assist and traffic sign recognition. Now I have a Karoq sport line with matrix led so has the same A5 camera. Traffic sign recognition seems to be lacking adaptation ability to get it working but thats another story. When I coded the lane assist everything works as expected apart from the little warning light in the dash. The orange car with lines either side that turns green whenever it is operational. They only flash briefly instead of being constantly on whenever it is turned on. I tried the “message when off” but that just creates an orange triangle and warning in vehicle status. Anyone have similar experience or know the coding I need to change for the warning?
  14. Eek. Better double check, had it on an A3 and TT and neither had the lights on if the brake pedal was released!
  15. Brakelights dont stay on with autohold.
  16. I fear this current pack method of speccing a car is linked to production and chip shortages (*headliine grabbing thing). Limiting options must be a way of getting cars built in a more streamlined way. I have noticed many manufacturers do the same that would have normally had individual selectable items. Other thoughts are it makes the buying process more simple and for the majority (read non-car people) of buyers it is less intimidating. I fear there will be no incentive to return to the ‘old ways’ and this is the new norm. This is purely conjecture from me.
  17. To update an old thread. I did end up selling in the end. After a year of ownership I took advantage of the soaring used car market and lost no money gained only experience. Bought a VW Caddy maxi as a micro camper. Chalk and cheese. Converted it myself, plenty of nights away in it with the bike etc. Loved it as a camper, hate it as a car. Now a year later I am back as I am looking at a Karoq. On the plus side, the wife has an Abarth so I get to blow off steam in that. Do I miss the Octavia? Yes and no. I miss the newness factor, it being a car and not a van, and the fact that it looked the tits (to me). I wont miss the 2.0tdi as my mileage has dropped massively and I’d be constantly managing the DPF. The 6 Speed DSG is turd compared to the 7 so I wont miss that. Looking forward to having a smart looking car again and luckily I kept the tentbox so all is not lost on random nights away.
  18. Can confirm that it does save fuel. I tested coasting vs normal over 50k miles up and down the A1. Long sections of the motorway are sloped enough to maintain 60-70 mph while coasting, equating to 200 + mpg. In gear overrun would cause the car to decelerate enough to require throttle input equating to 60 to 70 mpg. Car was 2017 Audi A3 1.6tdi s-tronic. Over the same journey there was around 5-10 mpg increase using eco. Quite a substantial saving over the 2 years I had the car. Obviously other things will have had an impact, reduced fan speed in auto, softened throttle response etc.
  19. I had this! same red line, same road everytime I drove it even if there was no traffic. I believe its using some form of old traffic master type system that uses a radio frequency not data. I used obd 11 to disable it by changing its access code went for a drive it was all gone, re instated it and is all fine now. Not that I use it that is
  20. DM Keith Skoda Bradford were fantastic. Car was ready same day and all covered under extended warranty no problem. Even offered to do cambelt kit as the labour for water pump covered it and saved me £100s.
  21. 60k ish miles, early 2017 (66) vrs tdi overheated on me for the first time, dial to 130 and a beep/warning. Fluids and levels all correct. Dealer booked me in under extended warranty stating parts would be ordered in anticipation. Will update when I have more to tell.
  22. Well I must say, thank you briskoda people. That was exactly what I needed to read. A balanced view and not blind love of our cars. I can relate to so many comments. It is a cracking motor and Ive had many people tell me Im mad for wanting to get rid of so soon. Some of the comments made me chuckle, especially the one about Skodas being let pull out, class. I will look to keep it fo a while longer and just appreciate it for what it is (NOT an A3). Thanks everyone for spending your time on replying to my post. P.S. Felt tape in the gap of the seatbelt height adjuster on the b pillar got rid of the buzzing for me.
  23. I suppose I have added more sound deadening but I like to hear the engine when pressing on, suppose the rest of the time it is far too noisy!!!
  24. A bit about me. Ive had a variety of cars over the years and driven many a hire car and friends/family cars giving me that all round experience of motoring. From hot hatches to estate beaters, Jags to japs, Mazdas to Mercs and the odd military truck in a former life. I had wanted an estate mk3 vrs since I first saw them on the road. Years went by and after getting rid of a spankers A3 on finance I had the opportunity to buy my current car outright. Thought it would be perfect, same MQB platform that I already knew, much bigger, much faster and according to my mates, much better looking. Importantly it had all of the toys I wanted, heated everything, CarPlay, dual climate yada yada. Unfortunately this was when I realised that my 6 month newer A3 that I had just disappeared was effectively a generation newer, the 7 speed dsg a million times better than the 6 in mine, the infotainment just not up to Audi standards... The shine soon wore off and no amount of Ali express reversing cameras, black front grills or comments from the neighbours / friends about how nice it is can take off the shine. Every time I hear that (undiagnosed) rattle from the engine bay , I have to visit the local Skoda dealer (where you are only ever inconveniencing them) or the gearbox decides it wants to engage 2nd gear INSTANTLY while slowing up to a junction I just lust after trading it in for something else. The problem is, I only bought it in November and while genericonlinecarbuying.com will give me a decent price for it, I still feel like I need to give it a chance (I want to). So after all that waffle, please Briskoda, help me fall in love with it.
  25. I will definitely be giving this a go. Having the auto box that also occasionally /s drives the rear wheels means Im happy if I get 45 on a long old run lol
