  1. Update - friends recommended the dealer in Winchester and I called their service department who were very helpful. They noted all the issues we've seen and that they all reset themselves and thus are not shown on the MIB's Vehicle Log Screen. They said a software update was a potential resolution but they would want to check the car in case it was also hardware issue - but they wouldn't need the car for 3 days like the supplying dealer was wanting. Plus we didn;t have to wait 3 weeks to get booked in. So it went to them today and they had it around 3 to 4 hours - was advised they had updated the software (now on version 276) and this should address all the issues. Unfortunately it won't cover updating the satnav map database as our first year Infotainment online subscription ended in Novemeber/December, so I'll have to manually do the update - but I'm assured if the Infotainment online had still been active then the maps would update! They made no mention of hardware issues although I notice a load of fingerprints on the nearside doormirror - so maybe there was an issue there that had triggered the blind spot assist fault. Anyway its a thumbs up for the Winchester dealership (assuming the software update does resolve the MIB3 glitches we have been seeing) and pleasing that we didn't have the 'we can't replicate the fault so can't do anything' response some dealers have given other owners on here with similar MIB3 software issues. I haven't forgotten the Camberley Service Centre and will probably see how they do when it comes to the car's second service in November.
  2. Sorry - maps are October 2020 not 21!
  3. Well the Karoq is 4000 miles / 15 months old now and the MIB3 software glitches are starting to feature. In the early days we had messages flag up about headlights set up for left or right hand traffic - occured 2 or 3 times then stopped - and recently the side assist failed with a vehicle fault message showing on the dash which lasted a week or two and then magically dissapeared! The latest issue is the old SOS emergency call visit workshop message which triggers from time to time but never seems to remain from one journey to another. Thought I'd check the cars software version (270) and discovered that the satnav maps had never updated themselves since the build date (Oct 2021). So enough is enough - I know there is a TPI which covers the headlight and non-updating satnav map issue - so it needs to go to the dealers to fix that and the SOS fault. Have tried several times in the past few days to contact the service department at the supplying dealership but have never been called back. Miraculously I got through this morning and having explained all the faults was told they want the car for 3 days! They will do diagnostics day one and the other days are to allow time to order up parts as required - suppose its better than one trip for them to do diagnostics and then another for parts to be fitted. My main issue, however, was they said they were waiting for Skoda to release a software fix to sort the SOS fault! Well posts on here seem to indicate the update has been around a while! I also highlighted the TPI covering the headlight setting error messages and satnav map not updating (2063258/7) and was told there was not a TPI that covered those and the SOS fault - they wouldn't even take the TPI number from me! I was also advised that a dirty car can affect the side assist system, but I had specifically cleaned the sensors in the bumper and the camera above the numberplate and the error hadn't cleared. So, given they can't take the car in for 3 weeks, the lack of call backs and unwillingness to note/recognise my TPI recommendation, I'm considering alternative dealerships/workshops to sort this out. There is Camberley Service Centre (Surrey GU15) which are are an authorised Skoda service & warranty centre and most reviews I can find online seem positive, so I'm wondering if anyone on here has had recent experience of them? The forum page with dealer reviews has a few postings for them, but nothing for some years.
  4. Very helpful info all - recently our Info-online expired after its first year free subscription and I thought I'd have a go at updating the maps. Went to the software info screen and was surprised to see the map data was from October 2020 when the car was built, so clearly online updates never happened as they should. Ages ago I also had a couple of instances where the car flashed up messages about the headlights being set up for left hand (or visa versa) traffic. So it would seem this latest TPI needs applying to our car - bearing in mind it went in for its 1st service last November, I'm somewhat concerned that the dealer didn't install it. Guess if it takes a long time and we had no outstanding problems/glitches that needed fixing they simply did the oil change and left it at that. Unfortunately side assist has now failed so the car will be going in for that to be fixed - will get them to do this TPI software update at same time.
  5. Apologies all - don't take this as gospel. 'Er in doors may have fed me duff info! She recently did a 400 mile round trip and on her return advised the satnav had taken into account some long term roadworks when she asked it to route her home. This morning when I took the car out on a short trip, no roadworks or delay indications were evident on the map screen - that said there were no roadworks in the area I was travelling in and neither were there any traffic queues. So, on returning home, I subjected the wife to closer questioning where she revealed that when getting the satnav to give her routes home, she had assumed that some long term roadworks that she knew of had been factored into one of the three route options the system was suggesting, as it showed a much longer time than the other two. Just an assumption therefore, and at no time did the satnav talk to her about any roadworks, delays or need to re-route her. As such, I'm inclined to think that maybe these helpful extras do dissappear after all. I'll post further if we journey further afield and find that they haven't. I've just gone out to the car and woken Laura up. She's still there - as recalcitrant as ever, but was still able to set up navigation directions from the list of previously used addresses. So whilst her track record of understanding what we ask of her is terrible, it seems that we are still stuck with her despite not renewing our subscription.
  6. Our Skoda Connect was due for renewal last November and we didn't feel the cost was worth it. We have the personalisation option and both our keys trigger adjustment of seat, mirrors etc. whenever we change driver. Satnav also seems unaffected with roadworks and traffic conditions still showing. So it looks as though all we will miss out on is Satnav map updates - we can live with that although some think there is/will be scope to update maps ourselves via USB-C socket. The remote access and other things CJJE outlined, we don't use.

Is the button underneath the seat back material? I guess Skoda wouldn't surface mount it as it could prove to be a great 'toy' for young back seat passengers to play with.
  8. How about trying the 'pause' function before moving from USB to radio? Might work. My USB media is set for random play, but even so I'm sure it picks up where it left off whenever I exit the car, without manually turning the infotainment off, and then return. I also use the 'mute' function (brief tap on the power button) which acts as a pause function (thats on the Columbus system - don't know what system is on SE-Ls) i.e. the system carries on playing from where it left off when un-muted, even if we turn off the infotainment in the interim. All that said, we have the personalisation service with user accounts and so it may be that this is remembering the fact that I was playing USB media when last in the car and thus restarts it where I left off! Nothing with MIB3 is straightforward!
  9. Page 140 of Nov 2020 Owners manual shows an icon looking like a pair of intertwining arrows - it's random play. Should be selected and then you should have what you seek. Sorry - can't post a pic of the manual page as on the mobile. This is, by the way, for MIB3 Columbus system.

But then you lose the benefit of the nearside mirror dipping in reverse to help see how close your alloys are to the kerb.
  11. Just been on a visit to the Dales so did Buttertubs and Hawes/Ingleton routes. The photo shows the small parking area on the left (looking north) for the Buttertubs. There are two, one on each side of the road - amazing features, said to be 24m deep.
  12. Recent discussion on another forum gives comment on how to use the MIB3 satnav without postcodes and alternatives https://www.karoqforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=832
  13. Buttertubs are deep holes in the ground and not visible from the car - there is a small parking area on the left heading south to north so you can have a look. I'd drive it both ways - its not a long road. Whilst you are in the area, I can recommend the road from Hawes to Ingleton a great drive and you will pass Whernside and Ingleborough but, more spectacularly, the Ribblehead Viaduct in front of Whernside. This road as well as Buttertubs pass were favourites with the Top Gear presenters - Clarkson loved the Dales. Have fun.
  14. janewalker55 - We had the initial order email from Skoda UK on our factory build, but thereafter we had a near weekly progress update email from the dealer. Don't recall getting further progress emails direct from Skoda UK though. You should ask your dealer to give you progress updates - I don't think Skoda UK will give you anything as it sounds like the car order was made by the dealer themselves, to go into stock, and therefore in Skoda UK's records the order won't be in your name. The dealer will, however, be getting updates on ''their'' order which they can pass on to you.

You can set the tailgate to only open to a certain point (rather than fully) but to do that you'd need to know what point you want it to go to and you can't find that out until you have the worktop onboard. But in any event, I personally wouldn't be ratchet strapping the tailgate down as it would put undue pressure on the opening/closing components (pulling the tailgate closed when the electronics are not triggering the open/close mechanism) and could damage them resulting in an expensive bill. The joys of electric tailgates!

Oh come on Jim...clearly there is a disconbobulator fault between the infotainment system and fflux capacitor. Next time you are on Planet Earth, drop in to a Skoda dealership and see if they can help.

Probably to reflect the normal (forward) rotation of the disc - clockwise on the offside (RHD) wheels and anti-clockwise on the nearside wheels.
  18. It will if you don't fit a purpose made hard wire kit. They monitor the battery voltage and disconnect feed to the dashcam when the voltage drops too low and thus preventing damage to the car battery. It's surprising how quickly a dashcam left powered up in a non-running car can drain down a battery, and if it keeps happening, then it will shorten the life of the battery.
  19. Thanks for comments - seems it's another Skoda MIB3 'glitch' and I'll just have to keep changing it back to left rather than right until such time as I can be bothered to get it into the dealer to look at it (and then tell me they can't find a fault!).
  20. MY21 with full LEDs. Only done c.1k miles and virtually none in the dark due to lockdown. Anyway, yesterday went for a 40ish mile daylight journey (headlights on auto but were off) and as we approached home a message came up on the between dials display saying something like 'lights adjusted for traffic on the right'. No idea what triggered it. Got home, went into the Infotainment and had to change the tick in the box from right to left hand traffic. Early this morning went to the airport and the headlights were on. Again nearing home the 'lights adjusted to the right' message came up again! Got home and with the lights pointing at the garage, adjusted back to left hand option in the Infotainment. The only change I could discern to the light beam pattern was that they moved slightly higher (in the horizontal plane) in the right hand setting. So, I was sitting here now pondering the issue and reached the following question - when it says set for right hand traffic, does it mean traffic coming towards you on your right, or does it mean set up for driving your car on the right? So which is right? (And/or left!!) Your views / comments welcome. In any event I'll have to speak to the dealer as it shouldn't be adjusting the beam pattern left or right of its own accord. PS. I understand that there is the possibility that with the satnav on, the system recognises you have gone abroad and adjusts the beams for you. But both journeys were only crossing county borders and in fairness to the people of Berkshire Surrey and Middlesex. I don't think those are yet regarded as being 'abroad' from Hampshire 😋

Auto dimming. The mirror glass contains an electrolyte liquid so when current is applied it dims - controlled by the interior rvm's sensor. That's why it's so expensive, and there is no cheap alternative unless you fit plain heated mirror glass and lose the auto dimming. Still if you got the other guy's details / numberplate then tell your insurer and submit a claim against them. I learnt the hard way that 'door mirror jousting' isn't something to take lightly - all to easy to agree with other driver that it's just a bit of glass and a cheap/quick fix so no need for insurance claims. Then you get left with an £800 odd bill.
  22. Just be careful - proper dash cam power packs are fine to leave in extreme temps (inside hot car on sunny day) as they use special types of battery which can withstand this, but ordinary power banks use ordinary Lion batteries which can, and do, swell and in extreme case ignite in very high temps. I only use mine at night or for very short periods during hot days - don't want to come back to the smouldering remains of my car!
  23. Blackvue (and others) do a battery pack to power dashcams in parking mode and therefore you don't need the hardwire arrangement which, depending on make/model, can drain your car battery. I'm using a simple 2200mAh powerbank which provides the 5v the dashcam needs and lasts overnight. If it runs out of juice then yes I could miss something on the cam, but I'd rather that than drain the car's battery.
  24. Sounds like it's fully functional apart from the 'vibration/resistance' through the steering wheel. If Skoda UK say your car should do that, then the dealers that did the new camera install have got it wrong somewhere. Hopefully it may be something really simple like tha multi-pin connector for the wiring harness on the camera needs 'wiggling'. I had a Vectra that started running roughly - company car and dealers replaced just about every engine sensor going 'cos that's what the plug in diagnostic told them to do' but to no avail. It went in for its last service just before I got a new company car and I said it was still running 'rough'. When I collected it the lady mechanic came out to see me and advised that they couldn't find a fault. However she had undone and re-connected all the engine management sensors in case that cured it. Blow me, the drive home was like having a new car again! Shame it went back to fleet auction a week or two later. Regrettably most dealers workshops are driven by plug in diagnostics and thus simple things like iffy connections are not considered - besides they can bill more to replace what they believe is a faulty sensor, rather than actually think for themselves and try a more appropriate solution.
  25. When driving along and the maxidot shows the lanes, do they change colour as you veer out of lane? If not, then either the camera isn't working or it's not been fitted correctly and isn't passing messages to the steering wheel vibration gizmo and the maxidot. Don't think there is much more you can do, however, except wait until it goes to the second dealer. I'd try and get the service manager to agree to going out with you so you can show them the fault otherwise you could end up with the same response as the original dealer. Also highlight that Skoda UK have asked for it to go to the second dealer. Good luck.
