  1. I own Škoda Octty 1.9TDI from the year 2004. Need to know whether the engine is inference or a non-interference so I can decide whether to go for a cam belt change or wait a little longer.
  2. I have been trying to replace the stock antenna with a shark Finn type for a while now. Read multiple threads. Some says pull it out hard after completely unscrewing, some says to push down and then pull to remove the stock antenna from the socket to bypass anti-theft feature of stock antenna. Tried pulling it out hard to a point where I thought I might break something but the aerial didn't came off. Please suggest a way to pull out the stock antenna and so I can replace it with a shark Finn.
  3. I am inclined to swap my existing single DIN aftermarket stereo console with a latest one single DIN stereo console with functionalities like bluetooth and AUX connectivity. Current console is connected through ISO input plugs. With the current console I have faced no issues neither in central locking system nor in OBD-II functionality or anywhere else for that matter. I tried to search for stereo systems which directly take existing input so I don't have to go through any changes in the wiring and thus eliminating any electrical problems which may occur but I can't find any over the internet. Can you suggest any ? If not what are the other options I am looking at? How can these other options be executed with as little mess up with electrical system as possible?
  4. Also look for any damage at the fan blade which was brushing against the hose.
  5. I have already purchased this for 20$ with lifetime warranty.
  6. https://www.fixd.com This is the link to the device and it says that it is compatible with all gasoline cars after 1996 and all cars after 2006. So couldn't figure out whether it is compatible with Skoda Octy 2004 Mk1 or not.
  7. Is MK1 Octty 1.9TDI (2004) compatible with OBD - II particularly FIXD device?
  8. When you changed the gasket, what was your find? Was the gasket blown or not? Have you checked whether the engine head or block has warpage?
  9. I am in need of an Ashtray for my Octty 2004 MK1. I tried finding it on multiple sites but couldn't get my hands on it. Does anyone have any links or source through which I can purchase this product (1U2857962) and ship to India?
  10. UPDATE: Spotted a liquid trail underneath while I was parking the car. Observations: (Travel distance 300 Kms) - Engine doesn't require coolant refill at all. Very little or negligible drop in coolant level. - Engine temperature is maintained at all times. Any Idea about the liquid trail left by my car? I have eliminated the possibility of a blown head gasket and engine crack from the above observations. Does AC unit leave any water trail after operating for a while?
  11. @mac11irlYes you did. And you sure deserve an assist. Unfortunately I don't know how the assist system works.
  12. I have attached Schematic representation of fuse box in engine compartment for reference.
  13. Thank you everyone for your help. My issue resolved by cleaning the fuse located above the battery. Radiator Fan 2nd Stage terminal fuse has caught a lot of carbon and was getting neglected all the while. I cleaned it's terminals and now engine is appropriately maintaining the optimal functioning temperature. Found no coolant leak. I was loosing coolant through overflow spillway of expansion tank due to excessive boiling of coolant and water, cause of non-functioning radiator fan (2nd Stage). I hope this helps someone in need.
  14. Checked the radiator thermoswitch and it seems alright. Any other issue that can be the culprit for this problem? Please let me know. I have ordered OBD-II for diagnosis. Once it arrives I will convey its scans as well. till then if anyone has any clue about what else can go wrong with my vehicle please do let me know.
  15. There is also an issue where I set the upper blowers to throw air but even then I can feel air blowing on my legs while driving. I thought there might be a sealing issue with vents.
  16. But thats the reason why in Skoda's manual it says that shift to auto mode when the side windows starts to collect mist. In the manual it says that recirculating mode should completely prevent the outside air entering the vehicle.
  17. I am facing the same issue with my Octty. Please let me know if you found anything regarding that.
  18. Hi Everyone, Have you arrived at a resolution to your problem? If yes please let me know. I might be suffering from the same issue.
  19. Hi Wino, Can you please guide me to the radiator thermoswitch?
  20. UPDATE: I took a drive of 500 Kms in the last two days and noticed that whenever I am switching on the AC unit, radiator fans starts and the engine temperature decreases while the same doesn't happen with fans when the engine temperature goes above 90. Observations under switched on AC unit (Fans working): - No overflow of coolant through expansion tank noticed. - Coolant slightly reduced after 250 kms - Engine temperature was either 90ºC or less than 90ºC (Mostly it was 70ºC)
  21. As per my knowledge thermostat has not been replaced till now. The flow of the coolant through the cooling system is regular. I can see the coolant coming back and completing the cycle while the engine is running.
  22. So the current scenario is, - Water/Coolant is still leaking. - Water/Coolant is still getting boiled after 100 - 150 Kms - Water/Coolant is nowhere to be seen externally other than the puddles due to overflow of expansion tank. - No white smoke is noticed through the exhaust. - No oil is noticed in the Water/Coolant. - Top-up of coolant is still needed at every 100kms to keep the engine temperature at 90. I am still unclear of the source of this leak.
  23. Hey I sure can provide some photos but the water puddles that I saw under the expansion tank was made by the coolant thrown out by overflow spill way of expansion tank. So I assume puddles are only there because the water in the cooling system is boiling. On another note I replaced the expansion tank and the issue still persists.
  24. Inspected the expansion tank as you suggested and found no cracks in it. What other possibilities are we looking at?
  25. I am talking about overflow outlet of expansion tank.
