Problems With Android Auto

Featured Replies

Morning All,

Now I know that there seems to be a lot of threads relating to the above but I am struggling to find one that matches my current issue.

So yesterday I plugged my phone in, started the car and the android auto worked fine. After a short journey got out and left the phone plugged in (watched my daughter walk into school, so stood next to the car!) Got back into the car and started it up and now it won't recognise the phone for AA. Phone charges but when trying to use AA its like it doesn't exist.

Have reset the AA setting on the phone and tried to re connect but it just tells me to connect phone via USB and will not recognise the phone at all. I have tried different cables, as I have had connection issues before, blasted phone and car sockets with air duster and just nothing!

My worry is that the USB socket in the car has failed, which would surprise me as the cable is never removed from the car just the phone.

Any suggestions of other things to look at before I start thinking of looking at replacing the USB socket (if its even possible)?

You could try to reboot the radio unit, by having it switched on and holding down the power button for about 10 seconds and it should force a reboot.

If that does not work, then maybe the radio might respond to a firmware update, that you press and hold down the Menu/Setup key for same time and enter the engineering menu and post picture of the Software Train.

Usually USB ports tend to be intermittant, then one day fail, has it been playing up!?

Thanks will give it a go at lunch

Nope not playing up.

Have the usual thing of it say connection failed. Press android auto on the screen and it connects straight away. But it has always done that so no big issue. Its more of a surprise when it connects first time 🤣

Starts charging every time I connect the phone it is literally the AA has stopped working
