  1. Thanks to everyone who has replied I will see what next year brings if I keep the car as planned... Cheers
  2. Thanks for folks responses so far and just to clarify which I perhaps should have done at the start. The All in One Package promises (or did 2 years ago) the following: - The issue is that Listers Banbury did not undertake a Bodywork, drive belt inspection. The staff at Listers Banbury have been very helpful but it is not on their checklist so I have absolutely no gripe with the staff and and I have been impressed by them. It looks like there could be a disconnect between what VWFS sells and what is being delivered. I have raised a formal complaint with VWFS and Listers today to see if they can explain why there is a disconnect. Another poster has kindly sent me a check list they got from their dealer and it does cover the Belt and Bodywork as shown here It is way more detailed and a longer list so if I had that from the dealer saying they had followed the tick list sheet I would have no issue. I suggest folk check if you are paying for the "All in One" package ensure your dealer actually does a Bodywork and Drive Belt check - especially now Drive belts are not being replaced early... I will update the thread as and when I know more. If anyone else on the "All in One" package gets a different report always good to see how the different dealer networks are following through on what VWFS sells us. Cheers
  3. MOT done yesterday as part of the Service and MOT in "All in One" package. Car is 5 years old - brakes never changed (I drive gently) and has 46,000 miles I am tempted to leave the brakes as they say nothing about disc depth just that they look rusty... 🙄
  4. Well I did just that as the nice service chap phoned me and we just had a chat about the missing items on the tick sheet. In relation to that question he said they plug the machine in but don't print out the report and it was all OK - (gov - trust me... 😉 of course I have to as they are the experts) Now it got pretty interesting re the Body Work inspection and he said it was a German thing and not done in the UK hence not on the tick sheet. I pointed out that it was a German(ish) car and perhaps it should be as I am paying for an inspection in the "All in One" package and I would not want a warranty claim denied if I did not get what I had paid for. He realised that perhaps what he had just said was suspect and a bit of a logic trap and said he would do some more checking before I went down a route of chatting with VWFS who I have a contract with to see ifd I should expect a UK dealer to carry out a full Body Inspection. I await his call back... 😉 BTW - The reason for investing my spare time to do this is 1. I have spare time and 2. we need to ensure that we truly do get what the marketing blurb says we will when we sign up for contracts and only by asking akward questions do we hold companies to account. I am also truly interested in what other folk get from other garages - We have already had one lucky chap get the Brake Fluid FOC where I just paid £75 for that on the same "All in One" package...
  5. The tick sheet makes no mention of the following: - Bodywork, Drive Belt, locks, Diagnostic check and report? - Would be nice to see the report IMO Should it =have ticks for the items above? I guess I just have to assume it has been done, but kinda of interested to see what other garages provide as evidence. Especially as I want to ensure that what I am paying for in the "All in One" package is what I get...
  6. So car serviced yesterday and a few curious things thrown up that they say need attention but it passed MOT OK. Red Item - Rusting of front brakes "Front brake discs corroded requires replacement with pads" £430 to replace... Amber - A/C Service - £159 - I have always viewed A/C services as a bit of a con? - Should I still view it as such? Misting of Oil on both front Shocks £745 to rectify? both front shock absorber light misting of oil A new one on me Wishbone unbonding? Cost of £205 to replace? O/S/F suspension lower arm wishbone bush unbonding Here is MOT Report
  7. Hi so just got the car serviced yesterday under the All in One policy and I have some questions for anyone who fancies commenting... On the paper work I got back from the Garage it made no mention of the following that are clearly stated as being part of the policy. Full Vehicle Road test Diagnostic Check - including a report A report to include lights, bodywork, glass, locks etc.... The report I got was just a video showing the underside of the car. - See a seperate post on some amber items they have noted.... Should I expect to see more evidence. Just had a follow up from the garage and they sent me the tick sheet as the report - I guess I have to trust the diagnostics report was OK. What do other folk get from their garage of choice?
  8. My wife has the Kona EV 6A kWh and it's excellent. A very good choice and with a 5 year warranty a comfort to know they have faith in the underlying fundamentals. If you have solar panels it's a no brainer choice. Enjoy....
  9. Thanks I bet those paying for a new belt might be a bit miffed.
  10. Sorry can't read that as restrictions to Freedom membership. Any chance of doing a quote?
  11. Pity I am not using your dealer... I wonder how they will cross charge it to Skoda? Anyway that is their problem and you have had a bonus.
  12. Yep all good points and normally I avoid Warrantys like the plague. Maybe because I am getting older, maybe because I switched to DSG and I have read too many horror stories that I think the loss of £200 a year might be worth the gamble. A month to decide....
  13. I am considering the all in one for 2 more years so I feel I am tied to getting them to do it. If I was going to get rid of it sooner I would take a different approach. I am hoping by 2 years the EV market will have settled a bit and perhaps slightly longer battery range cars of similar size will be available. The EV 64 kWh kona we have is excellent but slightly too small. Excellent range and every bit an equal or better than Skoda.
  14. Yep £50 at Halfords. Yep a fair assumption to make if not listed not included, anyway I think I will let them do the brake fluid saves a journey and a seperate visit to Halfords (or anyone else). It will keep it in warranty and clearly done by a Skoda garage... Thanks for the responses...
  15. Thanks I know what is required which would imply it was standard service work - The question was All perhaps moot as I have found documentation that specifcally excludes it - even though the contract paperwork is vague...
  16. OK I did some more digging oin my computer and found the glossy booklet saying what was included and not and it is made clear there it is not... Pity the contract is vague... Ohh well I guess £75 it is and maybe a new CamBelt... 🙄
  17. Hi, just seeing if anyone else has had the Brake Fluid Excluded from their All in One Policy or Included? The Paperwork I had when I signed up did not mention it directly as excluded and I had assumed it was included as part of standard service items. Included below is the Excluded section and it states all Non Standard Service work and Cam belt. So is a Brake Fluid change standard Service work or not? Just trying to save £75 if I can avoid it....
  18. Just noticed that the All In One policy can now be used for cars upto 6 years old, so for folks who want to extend from 5 years to effectively 7 years warranty they can do so at a cost of £35 per month. Includes RRP Service Plan 2x Services £490 Included Additional Service Items (Spark Plugs, Diesel Fuel Filter, Pollen Filter and Air Filter) Petrol £170 / Diesel £125 Included 2x MOTs £109.70 Included 2 years’ Roadside Assistance £198 Included Up to 2 years’ Warranty £580† Complimentary Total cost Petrol £1,547.70 / Diesel £1,502.70 £840 / £35 per month Total saving compared to RRP £707.70† †Saving based on differential between cost of All-in plan with national pay as you go RRP pricing for servicing, MOT and Roadside Assistance. Complimentary Warranty value is based on the average 2 year cost of Extended Warranty policies (with All Component Cover, unlimited mileage, and £0 excess) sold Jan to Sep 2022 for Škoda vehicles aged 3 to 6 years, with a 2.0L engine or less, and that have not been out of warranty for more than 30 days. Actual saving will be dependent on your vehicle. Mind you the savings you get are not what they might be as many get Roadside assistance for Free with Bank Account. The MOT actual cost is more like £70 for two if you say use Halfords. I.e. £35 a year. Also there service plans are cheaper at £225 to do a full service including a Brake Fluid Change while I have to pay an extra £75 for the Brake fluid at the dealer. So the Skoda cost of £420 a year if you subtract the service costs of Halfords is effectively paying £197.50 a year for the Warranty which is perhaps not too bad... Anyway just for folks like me that did the All In One a couple of years ago and might want to extend Warranty and fix their service costs for another couple of years?
  19. Hi if I did renew the warranty then I would no doubt get cambelt changed as I never said anything about expecting warranty to cover it. I was just musing on getting a year by year Warranty for around £267 I think. 😉 As to what the warranty Actually covers and the T&C's you are a better man than I to really understand what is covered in the warranty or not just by reading the T&C's. (Anyone who has claimed on warranty would love to know how it went?) I would certainly expect to be told "No" re the cambelt if I ignored the UK advice to change it. I would however expect it to cover other items even if I choose to ignore the Cambelt replace. Anyway I am covered (hopefully) by the All in One until August and then I will decide what to do... Thanks for the various insights from folk. Cheers
  20. Warranty is always a gamble and usually I do not subscribe but I did with the last two years as I got a reasonable deal with service included and inflation protected from 2 years ago. About to take the Karoq on a European run and will make a final decision before August....
  21. Thanks for the response and that somewhat surprised me as I thought you might not replace it. I have had my car since new and I know how it is has been driven and been pretty sedate (mainly 65mph when on motorways and within speed limits on A roads and no mad rush to pull away at junctions.) So I think I might take the chance to not replace it at the moment. I also have the ability to deal with the WTF moment if it does go. I plan to keep the car for maybe 2 more years until the EV market has moved a bit more. The wife has a EV Kona and it is an excellent car with a great 300+ mile range in the Summer months. I have been very impressed with it and will switch brands after being a Skoda fan boy since the Octavia hit the UK streets 1998 wheh I had one of the first ones to arrive. I have not been without a Skoda since then. So contemplating if I do keep buying a warranty for the next two years or risk it..... Anyway always good to have some debate on risks and how to manage them and those that are risk averse should maybe get it done and hope it is done well....
  22. Thanks for the response and yes Lifetime is really open to interpretation. I think I am leaning towards your view at least this year when my warranty runs out. although I can renew at over £200 a year....
  23. @toot @varooom just out of interest would you get the Cam Belt changed at 5 years or 50,000? If no when if ever would you replace? My 5 years will be in August and car has done at moment around 45k I will no doubt be having the conversation with the dealer then. 🙂
  24. This might help to work it out. There's a mini xls showing when items need to be done.
  25. Nope, just watched the video and he has winter tyres at front not 4 season. 4 seasons are to be used during summer as well so not sure its a big issue? Either way I will end up with 4 x 4 season tyres and not had any problems with a mix the last 2 years. Maybe I was just lucky or we didn't have any serious winter conditions to be affected?
