  1. For those looking I did a check on the Halfords website the other day and the choices for 4 season tyres has increased quite a bit since checking the tail end of last year. I guess supply problems / good weather has meant more choices now available. I reckon I will need 2 new ones before my MOT in August. I am still running a pair of Original Bridgestone Turanza T001which were on the rear and were switched to front in August 2018 when I got a pair of Michelin Cross Climate SUV and had them put on the rear at 27,261 miles. Not bad over 40,000 on a set of tyres. Not sure how I have managed that, I guess careful driving.... I will check Asda out for prices...

Sorry only just seen this. Last refuel on the 11th May odo was 40,489. 11th January was 38,193 miles. The car was bought in August 2018 brand new. I did not start recording fuel in app until the 18th November 2018. OK had to log onto my PC and get this bloody chart loaded that might be of help in answering your questions? And now I have a proper keyboard a bit more detail I tend to do a long run from Banbury down to WSM via motorways M40, M42 and M5 I do it on cruise and set it to 65mph which is fast enough to keep ahead of trucks but slow enough to keep me in inside lane away from the bumper touching idoicy on the outside lane... On that run I can get over 50 MPG especially with a clear motorway and good weather, so that will account for the decent average. It also helps that I don't work anymore and can travel off peak for those trips. The local runs which I do most days only get 32 MPG poor weather or 42+ MPG if warmish... For me the stress levels at driving 65MPH on motorway are so much reduced that it is a revelation what driving a bit slower means, adaptive cruise control helps too ....

  4. From my POV it just happens at start up and soon goes, for me it is a slight hesistancy not a full on kangroo but just not super smooth when first starting the car, and does not always happen. I took extended warranty because of the issue and costs to repair any issues so I think worth paying for warranty. So in test drive I would want to start the car cold and pay real attention to how it drives. I have had the car nearly 4 years and while it is a small niggle it has been a great car to own. My wife has just got a Kona EV and I think I will transition to an EV once the warranty finishes in a years time.

3 years of my MPG by month. Folk might find useful?
  6. @kenfowler3966I agree those with the new design should not really have this problem. As I noted in my response As
  7. The above explains perfectly why it happens and no warning is issued. As for spare keys I am now no longer storing with battery inside it as this is pointless as it is constantly draining the battery. The fundamental problem is the design of the key it constantly drains the battery sending out a ping. The new design should have longer battery life but for us with the old design we have to carry spares and practice the emergency protocols in case of battery failure.
  8. Either will do one is slightly thicker so might not easily fit in. But if you can get it in it will work as well.
  9. None for me. I think they will be working on newer models and I would be surprised if they issue any more.
  10. Yep agree it is less appealing but the way I justify it is that I will have lower monthly outgoings and still save a few quid. The other benefit is that it extends my warranty by the 4 months I have already paid for so in effect I am getting 28 months cover and paying slightly less overall for a longer term. All its costing me is a bit of time out of my day and as I am retired time is now cheap. If I was working I would not bother cancelling the contract, also Yorkshire blood itches at missing out on a cheaper deal... 😉
  11. My dealer wants to do the vehicle check again so booked in for Thursday next week and I will phone VWFS next week. The dealer thought I would have to pay a £25 cancellation fee but not sure if he is correct on that, anyway I will find out when I phone VWFS. When people phoned them what number did you use? The slight worry is that the car fails the new vehicle check and I have cancelled it before I know the result then i will lose the existing cover. As I have not used the car much since August when it has had the last one it should I guess be worth the risk?
  12. Cheers for posting I think I will do the same as I think I have only made 3 or 4 payments. I will phone the dealer in the morning.
  13. VWG systems have a lot of legacy (aka ancient technology) it is too expensive to start from scratch and too disruptive to migrate to new systems. Many big organisations suffer the same problems, BA, JLR, banks and Govt, MOD etc.. Critical systems too important to fail but no easy way to upgrade or budget to do so. It is really quite scary what is under the hood in many companies. 😳
  14. Ok an update I have had my car checked by Skoda today and it is has been accepted for this scheme. Just FYI it takes about 2 hours to get it checked, they do a full inspection, road test and run diagnostics. You can cancel in 14 days and after that if you need to end the policy you can but any money taken is lost and at the moment you cancel you lose all benefits. You can also transfer the scheme if you sell the car to a new owner but you have to fully pay up the policy and then provide them the new owners details. The policy cannot be transferred to another vehicle. I have scoured the text and can see no excess on the warranty claims so there does not appear to be any excess to pay if you make a warranty claim. That makes the warranty around £400 of value. So might be worth it for some folk?
  15. That's a worry too as I have always had manual gears before this Karoq.. I am going to try and find out what it would cost for a DSQ repair in that situation... House insurance always makes sense as I can never afford to rebuild my house I am not that rich, but I maybe could afford to pay for a new gear box? I will see if I can find a site showing common vehicle repairs to help try and assess risk and costs... BTW thxs for your posts... As I was typing you made further posts... Dohhh
  16. No problem, the Which article says that you are better to save the money and puty it towards any repair cost. This has always been my mantra for any warranty and I usally just laugh when asked to buy an extended warranty.... But all the new electronics and ACC and super dopper bells and whistles make me nervous of the cost to repair when they fail... £345 for 2 years manufacturers warranty might make sense for folks. I am super ****ed off at dealer network as I have been trying to get a service sorted and access to a credit given to me by Skoda at the beginning of the cars life and I am losing trust in the whole Skoda network, so the thought of 2 more years trying toi deal with them does not leave me with joy...
  17. Final Comparison for anyone who wants to know... Just plugged in Car to the RAC Warranty as recommened in the article... £60 Labour rate RAC Premium Plus 1 year £285 2 Years £520 - I.e. £260 per year to have done by local repair shop RAC Premium 1 year £279 2 Years £348 £100 Labou rate RAC Premium Plus 1 year £357 2 Years £652 i.e. £326 per year to have done by a dealership RAC Premium 1 year £508 2 Years £636 RAC Standard 1 year £337 2 Years £608
  18. OK the Computer has finally said YES to me being able to get a quote just for extended warranty... Just FYI 33,000 miles on clock and on basis of 10,000 miles per year prices for comprehensive (all parts covered) £0 excess = £208.12 £100 excess = £182.88 £250 excess = £151.87 Less than 15,000 miles per year (how long wil Covid last?) £0 excess = £214.75 £100 excess = £188.20 £250 excess = £155.56 So just buying Skoda £250 excess for 2 years would cost around £300 Just filled in details for Warranty Direct and fell off my seat... £0 excess = £367.20 £100 excess = £273.60 £150 excess = £242.40 This gives you. Your Warranty will include: Gold Coverage Multimedia MOT Test Insurance AA Roadside Assistance This might be better cover than Skoda? Need to try and compare, but that will take time, might try local library and see if Which recommends any warranty folk? https://www.whatcar.com/advice/owning/extended-car-warranty-guide-2021/n1125 This link was actually very useful
  19. OK so just trying to get a price for extended warranty from Skoda I can't access as I still under cover, my 3 years is up in August, but the headline price is FROM £128, so even at that low price £256 for 2 years, which means that you are paying nearly £100 for the roadside assistance. https://insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty/ OK so I tried to phone Skoda and got told they won't issue a quote for Warranty unless it is 30 days before end of current warranty - If the Bleeping Web site had told me that I would not have wasted my time on the phone!!! All the web site said was I was still under cover... Simply not Clever!!! So will wait until next week when I should hit the 30 day period...
  20. OK not sure why Google fuu failed but that link helps.. My Karoq is just hitting 3 years and was wondering about getting a warranty as I messed up not buying while car was at factory... (Nervous about all the gadgets my old 2011 Octi never had to go wrong...) It does indeed seem like a reasonable deal, if what they say is true, I might book in for a check to see what occurs... As a point of reference I use Halfords as a price check (yep I know some folk might not like Halfords but trying to find any decent garage is a bloody nightmare and they are few and far between...) Anyway Halfords, I got a Free MOT by buying some fluid washer liquid on one of their yearly specials, so MOT cost a £5 but outside those deals £45 for MOT is fair. Basic Oil Change Service at Halfords £125 (Incs Fuel Filter and checks) vs £245 at Skoda Major Service at Halfords £264 (Incs Pollen and Air Filter plus Brake fluid) vs £334 for same work BTW Brake Fluid needs changing at 3 years (then every 2) for Skoda they have that listed at £65 and this is not showing on what they include. So You need to add that cost into your calcs? So if you used the Halfords price you would spend £389 So £768 (plus Brakes) means £833 minus Halfords £389 means you are paying around £444 for Roadside assistance and Warranty for two years, if you can't get a free MOT, but even with the MOT's of £90 taken off that is £345 which does not seem too bad if the warranty is any good? I am going to spend some time checking warranty options to see if I can find any obvious holes.... The upside ffor them is that they tie you in for 2 years and can upsell on any other items. The upside for us is that inflation is about to take off and maybe worth protecting the service costs for 2 years....
  21. Hi can you provide a link to what you have seen? I have just googled and can only find the 2 year service plans for me at £14 a month for 2 years. I can't find anything including warranty which is a separate item?
  22. Hi the "characteristic" i have is after start the car is a bit Jerky, not a major issue but not what I would call smooth. Even noticeable this morning as I had A/C on. I don't think it is what you are describing as nothing to do with road, more an issue at low speed at start up. Car is good bar this feature, just a bit of a slight niggle that not as smooth as I Would think it should be.
  23. Skoda will tell you what they have recorded on their database. Use the online chat feature at Skoda website and ask for it.

Good luck you couldn't make this up and please keep us informed, would be interested to know what this would cost to replace. If not covered by warranty i would think you might have a small claims case to recover your money for the 2nd dealer to fix it. It depends on getting confirmation from 2nd dealer that the first did not install correctly. If they provide evidence it would be an open and shut case imo. Aggro but better to get it fixed then reclaim the money via small claims depends of course how much is the cost.
