  1. Style trim, 2.0 tdi dsg. One mechanic said shocks are bad and suggested to replace them other says it's ok... Did another one press down test and results are below.
  2. It's 130k km.
  3. Can anyone take a look and tell if this is normal for the Octavia y2020? It was very soft from the beginning already and it bounces exactly the same on left and right. Video
  4. What about changing the displayed car color in the welcome/goodbay screen of the IC and the car color in the main screen vehicle settings menu? Does it really needs to be gray?
  5. It happened to us a few times that when we passed state border with cruise control enabled (but not necessarily activated), the reference speed is set to 210 km/h (max.) - once it happened in a tunnel doing 50 and the car suddenly started accelerating, in other occasion it just silently updated (we were not on cruise control). It doesn't always happen and I can't really tell what else is the trigger. I don't really pass the border every day... edit: I have automatic speed adjustment turned off in the settings. Did it happen to anybody else?
  6. Yup, happened to us in May. The same day as it happened the last time, I was able to record this: https://photos.app.goo.gl/YVucewmmtoHGkgKT8 It first started last summer after one of the system updates. Media unit reboot (holding down power button) does not solve it. It is quite a dangerous situation since the volume constantly creeps up during driving and it happened to us one time that the touch power button was not registering touches and we couldn't turn the stereo off, but keep scrolling the volume down on the steering wheel. Due to other issues (early HW, travel assist issues etc.), the media unit computer was replaced in order to accept the new system version. Then the steering wheel got replaced two times and now, we are on version 1896 and it hasn't happened (yet).
  7. Anybody have any idea what this green wire is doing in the boot area around the spare tyre? The wire terminates to a foil square and is tucked under the plastic covers in the boot. I found a similar discussion about Karoq (below), but I have both the virtual pedal and the towing hook fitted to the car. The virtual pedal is based on a radar module, which these wires are not related to. Looking straight down betwen the spare tyre and the back wall of the boot: edit: in the quoted topic in the quoted topic a reference to water leak detection was mentioned. I was not aware of any such system being installed regularly in a car... the wire and the installation comes with a cost and I can't really see the benefit of it.
  8. I would say that this is indeed intentional and therefore normal. One more thing I noticed - it's quite weird that normal low beam is higher/longer than auto low beam (noticeable if you activate auto while driving behind someone). The matrix lights in auto high beam mode are quite fascinating for me. The other day my wife was driving our Octavia home and I was driving in front with our second car. Although it seems that the auto high beam is distracting other drivers by dimming the sectors frequently, it's really interesting to watch from aspect of the car in front - you can't see anything that would indicate that the car behind is driving with high beam. Moreover, the matrix lights appears to be dimmer than the ones of the other cars.
  9. I am noticing the similar behavior of the matrix LEDs - there is reduced power to the left when driving on (Slovenian) highway Have assumed this is normal and intended since it is hard for the camera to (reliably) pick up the cars on the other side of the road division.
  10. Do you actually have our have driven the dsg that coasts? One can control it with shift paddles on the steering wheel - downshifting when car is in coast puts it in the gear. It never happened to me that the car would coast when i wanted to overtake. I hate quite aggressive start/stop behavior more...
  11. The more I drive it, more I notice how complex the logic behind the coasting is... You can really notice when the clutch re-engages and the car starts braking with the engine, so it appears definitely worth to coast in certain situations. I just don't understand the logic of not showing the fuel consumption during the coast, since it is not 0 (but I expect is way less than it would be if I would apply the gas to sustain the speed). I noticed that the mk4 uses satnav data (especially road inclination information) to decide when to coast or brake with engine - if CC is engaged on a road with slight hills, you can notice the car switching into coasting on the top of the hill and then brake with the engine if the speed builds up going downhill.
  12. ID.3 has the same platform - see this news: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/vw-announces-ota-updates-for-id3-and-id4-promises-new-releases-every-3-months-157129.html I expect there will be something similar for Octavia later this year.
  13. Yes, definitely. Done almost 7000 km now (quite ok for 'work from home' times) and since the dealer updated the ECUs and errors stopped popping up, it is a very nice car to drive or to be driven I just hope no major (mechanical) issues start appearing anytime soon.
  14. We had ours updated in February - major update to multiple ECUs. It appears that it solved most of the issues - however, the software version on the central display stayed the same.
  15. We almost decided for the Superb iV last summer, but went with the new TDI Octavia... Reason: salesmen avoiding answers to how much cost to expect with batteries after 10 years (they should not answer in the way of "don't worry about that, you have 8 years warranty...") - finally got the word from Škoda service center that the replacement costs 13 k€...
  16. Ours is from the end of October as well, but most issues stopped appearing after the major multi-ECU update that the local dealer executed. Before that update, we usually encountered a new issue on every drive we took - e.g. parking brake reported faulty, parking sensors stopped responding, A/C controls stopped responding, steering wheel buttons stopped responding, seat heaters stopped responding... Only ACC-related issue still appears once in a while, but no other fault/error appeared since (neither did flickering). Did you guys notice any relation between flickering and high humidity?
  17. I would understand that for the sunroof itself, but not the shutter on the inside of the sunroof... In the user manual, there is no mention of possibility to close the shutter via the remote key or sensors on the door handles.
  18. Has anybody else experienced the sunroof shutter closing either fully or partly if the door handles are wet from the rain and you close the car? It has happened quite a few times to us now and even when washing the car.
  19. As I noted, they replaced the unit in my case, but the issue returned a month later. I don't recall whether this blinking reappeared after a major software update two weeks ago - it may just be another one of those software (communication) bugs, but I will certainly keep an eye on it...
  20. Hi, fossman You mean something like that: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kQYPVYRKrRDfYHFq6 Our dealer replaced the complete instrument cluster when I showed them the video. However, one month later, the issue re-appeared. It may have to do something with the high humidity level.
