  1. Where did you get the peloquin atb diff from? And who fitted it? Jabba? Awesome? JBS?
  2. You do, of course, fill up your car AND the 5 litre can AT THE SAME TIME, ie one transaction.
  3. Because you are modifying your car AND it is not a 'proven' mod along the lines of adding better wheels/tyres etc. If you tell your insurance company, 'Oh, and I've just played around with the fuel tank so I can store more in it' do you not think they will (in their very conservative way) think, 'Oh bugger, what the hell does THAT mean?' Adding leather or bigger wheels or an air intake is one thing, but tinkering with the fuel supply DOES seem at first glance to offer a lot of safety implications. I'm not saying don't do it; I'm just saying that in their very conservative risk approach, insurance companies are going to be very nervous (through ignorance) if you tell them that you have tinkered with the fuel intake on your car (even if you explain to them EXACTLY what you have done). Just a thought...
  4. They sell V-Power at my local Shell garage and I've been using it for about 6 months now
  5. Or wait for the diesel Impreza: 4 wheel drive, 45mpg and 180bhp....
  6. I can't see this mod being insurance friendly! If you REALLY need the extra 5 litres of diesel for a long journey, why not: (a) fill up with V-Power for that journey or ( fill up a 5 litre can and stick it in the boot or © drive less enthusiastically, thus improving mpg or (d) all of the above? Just a thought!
  7. Just a quickie: I've got the stock 16" alloys on the Fabia vRS and am planning for mods and a remap to about the 175-180bhp area. Will the standard wheels be able to cope with the increased power and torque? Or will I be better off upgrading to 17 inchers to provide better grip? (I use Toyo tyres.) Thanks!
  8. You can reduce the chance of them targetting your car by reducing the incentive to steal: 1. at night, empty the glovebox and open it so they can see there are no iPods or SatNavs lurking in there (or money). 2. Also, remove the rear shelf tray so they can see nothing is sitting in the boot. 3. If you use a DiskLok it *might* act as a red rag to some thieves. So I wouldn't bother. Thieves want money and objects in your car to sell rather than the car itself. If they just want a car they WILL target older cars with weaker security. 4. Rent a garage.
  9. I use the Toyos and think they are very good. Although I've not used the other makes so can't make a fair assessment. Since tyres are the only thing on the ground, personally I'd buy the best you can...
  10. I'd be up for a sump guard!
  11. so, to recap, rubber pedals with metal covers are standard!
  12. According to Car Magazine: "The 148bhp [diesel Impreza] engine is not going to cost the competition a lot of sleep, so Subari is already working on upgrades for 177bhp and 204bhp. Still not enough grunt? Then stand by for next year year's flat six, earmakred for the next Legacy and the Tribeca crossover. Sources say there'll be a 240bhp 3.0-litre and a 300bhp 3.6. That's not bad for a company that has used diesel so far only to heat its office buildings." April 2008, page 139
  13. The lovely Sarah tells me the Whiteline rear ARB is 163.91 quid (inc VAT + fitting).
  14. Yeah, I tried to measure the gap between the sump and the ground on my unlowered vRS and it's not a lot. I know some people have sump guards but despite some digging I haven't been able to find anyone still making these :-(
  15. I've seen some photos of the Whiteline on a 1.9 Scout and it just looked spookily low! So I was wondering if the gap to the ground would be about the same on a Fabia?
  16. So it won't catch the floor if the car is lowered 50mm?
  17. I'm looking to lower my Fabia vRS by about 50mm at the the front and rear. I've searched the forum for pics of the Whiteline ARB and the Jabba ARB but I've not found any on a lowered Fabia. So my question is: for those with a lowered vRS (with either the Whiteline or Jabba ARB), how close are they to the floor? Too close to catch? Can anyone post any photos? But I only want pics of a rear ARB if your car is lowered. Thanks!
  18. I'm waiting for the diesel Impreza... 4 wheel drive.....
  19. 1315Kg with driver and passengers and fuel seems right to me
  20. I live in Cheshire if anyone with kw 1s or 2s fancies a passenger one weekend?
  21. Hi I want to lower the height of my Fabia vRS. I've researched the forum here and it seems either to be coilovers OR Eibach springs + KSDs. I understand with with the Eibach and FSDs that trimming the bump stops (or using the Ibiza PD160 ones) is useful, but what about with coilovers? If, say, I wanted to lower the car by about 50mm, then what ELSE would I need to do to the suspension besides fitting coilovers? Eg also trim/replace the bump stops? Finally, is there much difference between KW variant 1 and 2? I see with 2 you can change the damper setting so does that mean KW variant 1 is too harsh/soft? Any comments would be helpful! Thanks!
  22. I think it was £206 inc parts, labour and VAT. This was from a dealer in Wolverhampton called AutoSales: Autosales Bilston. Skoda, Suzuki and Used Car Sales. 01902 402222. I got my vRS from them secondhand last April.
  23. I had this added to my vRS at a dealer and it cost 200 quid
