Reversing slowly downhill with a DSG, tow bar options and infotainment update in NZ?
Our LG MOI3 (MIB3) Infotainment units use the same software updates as Europe - I've done the update from 1941 to 1969 myself. For context the Preh MOI3 units used in some of the older Skoda range like the Superb, Karoq, Kamiq, Scala, Kodiaq - pretty much everything else actually - uses the RW or Rest of the World update file. Also of note, we don't get incremental OTA updates like Europe does. We get 1 maybe 2 map releases per year via the Skoda Update Portal - although using the VW update portal and selecting Golf 8 will often get you newer updates sooner. In regards to the online manual that is also not applicable to our cars either.

What do you mean by internal lock? Do you mean the button next to the hazard light button and above the air vents? By "hit and miss", do you mean that the internal lock button will only work sometimes or do you mean the internal lock button works all the time but, the key unlock/lock buttons only work sometimes? You should be getting about 6 - 12 months from a key battery. If you're keeping it in your pocket or in a bag, make sure that nothing is pressed against it. Sometime the other keys on my key ring will press against the buttons and I'll find my windows have all gone down - FYI pressing and holding unlock makes then windows go down. It might help if you shared any quotes or itemised invoices? Remove any personal info if you do of course.

Update to Version 1969
Same. But I'm not sure key memory has ever worked for me. But I'm without Skoda Connect and therefore without user profiles. I wished they'd kept Personalisation 1.0 working for the rest of the world. It's an option in coding in the body control module, but it doesn't work because the MIB/Module 5F doesn't support it since MIB3.

Reversing camera fitting
Just to add another dimension, no Australian delivered Octavia hatches have a rear wiper or even an option to specify one. But the rear camera washer is standard. The annoying thing is, you have to go into the camera menu to activate the camera washer because we don't have the rear washer specific stalk. I wonder how feasible it would be to add a rear washer motor and wiper? I've got water piped to the back.

Update to Version 1969
Seems like a dangerous choice to make. If it reboots during the update then the unit will be totally bricked. Have you contacted Skoda?

Kamiq MY20 MIB3 Update
I've had a look through the Skoda file list on VAG Flashinfo and identified these two files: 5FMIB3OISW278RDW.zip 30.06.2022 5FMIB3OISW278SOP1RDW.zip But I can't find them anywhere online. I checked Erwin for a relevant TPI and the only document referring to software updates is for version SW324 and the TPI presumes the oldest version is 270 which doesn't help me stuck on 156. To make things worse the RW 308 software file hosted on MIBSolution is corrupt. This is really frustrating!

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Maybe you need an to get the Online Connected Unit (OCU) updated? The OCU controls the functionally of online services which includes user accounts. If you ever had your SOS module updated or replaced then that is the OCU. You can source the OCU update files from MIBSolution but I have no idea if that is something you can apply yourself or if you need ODIS like every other module in the car.

Update to Version 1969
I second the dealer visit for a firmware that old. I've heard that some of the older firmware version' were less stable during the update process and therefore easier to brick a unit. But have my doubts about any need for a hardware replacement. I'm running 1969 on H56 with an even older display/control unit. You should only require a new unit if the dealer themselves brick it or there is an actual fault.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Cool to see you got a hardware and software upgrade on your display going from H44/2088 to H49/2103. I wonder if that equates to any other subtle changes? I've got H44/2088 but with 1969.

If you have the built in wireless charger, you can get an upgraded 15w cooled charger that replaces the current one.

Update to Version 1969
I had a Software Version Management code. I was able to clear the fault code from 5F and it didn't return.

Can we add speed camera alerts to Mk4 Sat Nav?
I only say unhelpful because it's so obvious. If @TheWanderer is involved in camera spotting for PocketGPSWorld then he'll likely know about Waze/Google Maps. Some people - myself included, like to keep everything as up to date and useful as possible.

Update to Version 1969
So commenting when you actually have no idea. Fair enough.

Can we add speed camera alerts to Mk4 Sat Nav?
While you've got logic suggesting this. It's really not helpful. It's the same as having people say just use Google Maps/Waze instead of the inbuilt navigation - it good to have a backup system and it means the maps on the VC and MIB are as consistent as they can be. Unfortunately, no. Your best bet would be to contribute to HERE Maps - https://mapcreator.here.com. I'm not sure if you can add info such as speed cameras, but you can update speed limit information. Contributions seem to take about 6-12 months to compiled and pushed out as an update by Skoda/Volkswagen. Although being in Europe/UK you get more incremental updates via Skoda Connect.

Swings and roundabouts
The pop-pop noise is related to the SOS/Telematics/OCU module that is seperate from the head unit. It would need an update from the dealer. I'm pretty sure the OCU is a seperate unit no matter the head unit.

Lack of spoilers
They shipped floor mats to Australia for me. It's not the same as a spoiler, but they still have some weight to them and it was a large flat box.
-
Update to Version 1969
I'm not sure that you read my post? We don't get Skoda Connect and any of the associated features. Unlike Europe, we're fully reliant on our dealers delivering updates or update files leaking online. Europe gets regular map updates, traffic information, an app store, user profiles/personalisation, and most importantly over the air updates - even if they're delivered slowly.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
I can't give out specifics that would identify them - at their request. They're both working high up in dealers in Australia. I was told Skoda Australia were aware of this issue and replacements have been carried out previously. The same supplier messed up a batch of 2021 Karoq Sportline sill plates (similar design) which had been replaced under warranty.
-
VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
Semantics matter when it comes to warranty claims. As It has been said to me from various sources, it's a bad batch. Someone at the factory was supposed to put a clear coat on and it didn't. It's the difference between a fault vs design flaw. To circle back to @Rooted point that Volkswagen Group doesn't take responsibility for flawed designs, that's why fault vs design flaw matters.
-
VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
The design isn't modified, rather made without fault. The part number has remained unchanged/has had no revisions. We have consumer protections but no 'Lemon Law' per se. Those protections often have exceptions when it comes to cars as well. The protections are nothing like what the US has. Most of protections are based around goods being fit for purpose, what a reasonable life expectancy would be, and minor vs major faults. In this instance it would be a minor fault - so it would be unreasonable to expect Skoda to take the vehicle back. But it is reasonable to expect them to fix the fault.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Wrong thread sorry. You want the Superb section. This topic relates to the MIB3/MOI3 head unit used in the Octavia Mk4/Golf 8/Leon 4.5/Formentor.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
Both of your accounts back up my thinking that it's an issue with 2021 built Octavia VRS sill plates. Feedback indicates the same design of sill plate is not an issue on 2022 and newer vehicles. The painted section is also recessed, so it makes it very difficult to actually scuff it with your foot as you get in and out. In my instance, you could literally rub away the finish with your finger. The image below is from a 2023 Octavia VRS and the finish appears a lot glossier and colour red deeper which would indicate a clear coat type of finish.
