Update to Version 1969
Be thankful that you're in a country where over-the-air-updates are supported. Skoda never implemented a system to update over home WiFi. It looks as though the bones of the function were built - as in I can scan for updates. But my car couldn't even stay connected to my home network until version 1949. Instead we're forced to go through the dealer, and they only update modules in response to fault reports and not as a preventative measure. Luckily we've got between a 5 and 7 year warranty but it doesn't help you if your servicing dealer is incompetent or unhelpful. Being able to complete these updates myself has been brilliant. But I'll add that if you thought MIB3/MOI3 was broken, try using a RoW (Rest of the World) unit. It's like they designed MIB3 to be always online, then went back ad-hoc and removed functionality. For example, when they removed RDS-Traffic (as MIB1 - 2.5 had), we lost all traffic functionality from the Nav. You'd think they'd at least add the ability to use your phones data connection to replace some of these basic functions - similar to Ford Sync 3.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
Škoda Australia (Volkswagen Group Australia) via the local dealer have said it's wear and tear and also that they don't cover paint damage - although I have no written denial. I have no idea on how to get in contact with Škoda CZ and Škoda Australia defer support requests back to whoever your local dealer is. But I've noticed a fair few people mentioning this issue through Facebook groups, so thought a good way to bring attention to it would be to start taking records of the issue. Then as people make claims they can refer to this thread where hopefully owners will have posted a fair few examples. I installed the genuine illuminated sill protectors are part number 5E3071300. They're not wired in, they powered by button batteries with motion sensors. Unlike the standard sills, they're designed to unclip so that you can replace the battery. Kopacek have them for sale here: https://www.kopacek.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-IV/Octavia-IV-original-Skoda-Autoas-interior-door-sills-with-BACKLIGHT

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
Hi Members, I'd like to start this thread to collect photos of faulty door sill protectors/plates. I'm hoping to use these photos as evidence to Skoda that there is widespread manufacturing fault with the polished VRS stainless steel door protectors. Skoda denied my claim, saying it was fair wear and tare. But I don't think a door sill is fit for purpose if the finish can be rubbed away with my finger. From various sources I've been told that a clear coat of some kind should have been applied to these at the factory but wasn't. The same thing happened to batch on Skoda Karoq Sportlines delivered in 2021. So far from posts in Facebook groups etc... most people suffering the same issue have 2021 build vehicles. To make matters worse, I was quoted $795 AUD to per side for replacements without fitment. I've since replaced these with the illuminated versions, but shouldn't have had to. I've kept my old ones and would like to help others to prove they're not alone in having this issue. If you could post a photo of your fadded/degraded sills, the manufacture year, and milage/kilometres that would be great. Here is mine: 2021 Skoda Octavia VRS - 20,000kms.

Octavia Mk4 Facelift Brochure UK
Something I've not seen men tone elsewhere. They're adding a "Jumbo Box" which appears to be a cooled centre console compartment. The UK spec also appears to not be getting the smaller infotainment display on lower trim levels.

I'll scan mine and check in the next day or two.

Radio stations Logos database updates
I thought I'd share my experience with an Australian/RoW MIB3/MOI3 unit. From factory the radio station logos are disabled and I don't believe Australia is included in the database or ever has been. By default, radio database just displays as blank, but changing function_configuration_radio-Station_Logo_DB_Mode setting in 5F gets the radio database version to display and allows you to apply the update via USB as described in the original post. This can be done using OBDeleven or similar. You can find more information on this setting in this Ross Tech forum thread. My hope was that this file might also contain Gracenote information which could provide cover art for music played on radio stations. 5F has options for local and online Gracenote cover art. However, as I'm in a region without Skoda Connect (nor the hardware) I'd need a local Gracenotes database update - although I'm not sure one exists. Does anyone know if there is a Gracenote database update package? They existed for Audi models previously.

Update to Version 1969
I updated my Australian spec Octavia and everything seemed to go well. The only thing I noticed is Ethernet Switch and Mercury didn't update - but everything seems to function fine. The biggest speed improvement I've noticed is cold boot. For context, I have approach unlocking enabled and since this update the head unit is sitting in standby displaying the time well before I'm ready to press the ignition button. Whereas before, I could be driving off while the MIB display still says Skoda - that's was on 1941.

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
Manual was the default/factory setting. I tried automatic but it set my clock back by an hour and that was on Friday. Daylight savings didn't occur until Sunday. The timezones were a pretty big give away that it wouldn't work. It has Eastern Standard Time (AEST) which includes Queensland which doesn't partake in DST rather than breaking it down further.

Update to Version 1969
I just answered my own question. The software train appears to be the same as the EU for Rest of the World vehicles such as my Australian delivered Octavia.

Update to Version 1969
Is this copy of the 1969 update applicable to EU only vehicles or does it cover RoW too? I ask because the Kamiq (different version of MIB3 I know) has files marked as EU and RoW. The EU files aren't compatible with RoW vehicles. Is that the same for the Octavia with MOI3?

Massaging seat problem
Do you know if this will be released as a TPI to dealers?

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
I noticed this setting in OBDeleven, but I'm yet to try it. I'm not sure how it would handle Australian Timezones and the state and territories that do and don't follow daylight savings. In saying that I can't recall having to adjust the time. Off the top of my head I might have the clock adjust to RDS time - unless I'm thinking of another car.

Kamiq MY20 MIB3 Update
Predictive cruise control is not supported in all countries. There is region coding in programming. A similar thing happens when you try to enable Traffic Sign Recognition (prior to it being locked with SWaP/FEC such as in MIB1 and MIB2 equated cars) in Australia.

Software Updates Post Warranty Expiration
The OCU dosent provide licensing, otherwise Rest of the World (RW) cars couldn't function. Your car comes with a list SWaP/FEC (Function Enabling Codes) from factory that it is capable of and a list of codes that are installed/activated. These are stored on the gateway. The OCU can facilitate you purchasing and activating these codes through the web shop or you can buy physical codes (came in plastic DVD-like cases) that get installed via ODIS.

Software Updates Post Warranty Expiration
Wow that's stingy. In Australia Skoda had a 5 year warranty until 2021 and now all cars get a 7 year warranty. In addition to that they've offered 7 years free servicing several times over the past few years. Unfortunately, we don't get Skoda Connect and they don't distribute updates OTA via WiFi - which the car is clearly capable of otherwise, why have a function that allows you to connect to your home WiFi? That means we have to go to the dealer with a problem before they'll update anything. I've only just gotten the climatronic module update from September 2021 to fix the climate sync issues. I am at least on version 1941 now too.

Kamiq MY20 MIB3 Update
So I need the following files: MOI3_RW_SKMQB_P30800P SK20230716RDW308.zip MOI3_RW_SKMQB_P32400P SK20230718RDW324.zip MOI3_RW_SKMQB_P3300P - This one was only added on the 10/3/2024. SK20240308RDW330.zip However, as the car is on version 0156 then I'm assuming there are older rest of the world files not listed on Vag-Flash Info. Is anyone able to help with Rest of the World/RW updates? I'm in Australia and we don't have Skoda Connect which why I assume we use a different file.

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
You're in the wrong thread this is for Mk4 Octavia's on the MQBevo platform. The Kodiaq rides on the older MQB platform and so there are a number of changes that mean the coding won't be identical. Also there is currently only one generation of Kodiaq, the new generation or Mk2 is yet to go on sale. Not trying be a smart aleck, just want to set you in the right direction to find the information you need.

VRS seat tablet holder
An official solution is on the way. We just have to wait until the facelift Octavia launches. Probably a matter of months.
-
VRS seat tablet holder
Mine arrived today... It does not fit. The packaging says on it for Kamiq and Scala. You can push it into the hole, but it's not deep enough to secure itself, so it will just fall out. The other issue is that as mentioned in my previous post, is the smart holder slot is upside down. In summary don't buy the one on the Kopacek store hoping it to fit an Octavia. There must be a seperate part for us, which Kopacek will probably stock when it becomes available.

DSG recall !!!
I had this done under the Australian recall. If I hadn't been in for a software update they would have done it in the driveway outside reception.

Any changes to the vRS spec since 2021?
To be fair the Golf 8 and Formentor/Leon share the same MIB3/MOI3 infotainment system as the Octavia. That means similar aged vehicles may experience just the same issues IF the software hasn't been updated.

Climate control Sync, work around.
Great news! I finally got the dealer to update the climatronic module from 0341 to 0531 my hardware revision is 5WA907727P. Aside from working as it should, the menu appears to be a lot more responsive and the same for animations - e.g between menus within the Clima menu.

Retrofit 13" Enyaq Display to Octavia Mk4
I have been wanting to the area view retrofit too. But I'm unsure if the kits listed on Aliexpress will be suitable, like this one. I also spotted this set of covers on eBay. What is the most deigning part of this for me, is the wiring harnesses. If I don't have to run anything through the firewall and it can be connected up within the engine bay then I'll be a little more confident.
