  1. Yes, that was my understanding too. Not super concerned about a parking mode as I tend to avoid car parks and parking in town where possible so I think a parking incident is reasonably low odds for me. I've already got my radar detector hard wired in so don't really want to run another power wire up the pillar and headlining and I don't think I'm clever enough to somehow splice into the power feed for the radar detector as it's a phone type cable with RJ45 plugs. The way the cops are here the radar detector is a higher priority than the dashcam. It's pretty easy to exceed the 100km/h speed limit here in the vRS! It is a shame that Skoda didn't have the option of the USB socket on both sides to cater for different markets, it seems to be a bit of an oversight in a car that has so many neat little features.
  2. Cool, I looked at the Garmin one but it wasn't clear if it would work on the 5v feed - I certainly like the small size of this one, I think it might be the winner so far! :)
  3. Thanks for that, I quite like the look of that one and it's certainly well priced.
  4. Hi Everyone, Just interested to see what brands/models if dashcams people are using in the Mk4 Octavia. Specifically ones that are 5 volt powered and being used with the USB-C port by the mirror, I've been looking at a few but many don't state what voltage they are even though in the majority of cases they are using a cigarette lighter plug to a USB end, so one would 'assume' they are 5v but I don't want to take a chance on ordering one that won't work! Personally I'm looking for something that is as compact as possible and not overly expensive, not having an LCD screen is not a deal breaker for me. Hopefully this will be of interest to others debating a dashcam purchase.
  5. That's a shame as those wheels really suit that colour Octavia!
  6. Thanks for pointing that out, I wasnt aware of that. I guess the default is dependent on which side the steering wheel is as that's how mine is without any set up. I'm still learning all the features of this car - it's quite complicated after my last vehicle.
  7. It's early days yet for me as I've only had the car a short time, but the inbuilt navigation seems a bit vague/imprecise compared to Google Maps, I haven't used Waze for some time but might reinstall on my phone and see how that works.
  8. Hmm, good point - I'm certainly no expert! I'm running a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android 9 with version 6.4.611714 of AA Also a good point.... (as I said I'm no expert! lol) I wonder why so many people seem to be having different results.
  9. I think this may be the answer as there are so many different size and shape phones these days.
  10. Yes, same for me with the 7/3 split though seeing as we drive on the left here the split is opposite to yours (Google Maps on right and Spotify on left of screen) Not sure of the build date or software version off the top of my head but the car only arrived in the country at the beginning of May so it would be reasonable to assume it has the latest version.
  11. This seems to be the answer - I was having difficulty getting Android Auto to work wirelessly, it showed up a couple of times then crashed, then phone wouldn't reconnect etc. So last night I spent some time setting it up again, deleted the phone from the system and then reconnected it via USB, got it all set up and then tried it wirelessly and it worked. Got in the car this morning and as Birdbrainuk said it offered Android Auto with phone still in my backpack. FWIW I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android 9
  12. Thanks for your reply, very helpful! Your photos on Instagram are very good, are you a professional photographer? Lovely part of the world you are in, I don't know much about Lithuania but it sure looks nice! Do you know if the bodyshop just used the bolts that Maxton provide with the splitter or did they also apply some glue/sealant? (Just trying to get all the handy hints I can before mine arrives! )
  13. I'll second that motion! I'll post some pictures of mine as soon as the sun decides to make a showing...

Hi mbn and welcome - new here myself and enjoying my new and first ever Skoda ('21 Octavia vRS wagon). Quite a change from a Holden!
  15. Nice car, I like the black on white look. Wow, that splitter does look bigger in your photo than it does on the Maxton website! :) Any problems with it scraping on driveways and the like? I'm just looking at ordering exactly the same kit as you, how did you find it as far as fitment - any issues/pointers?
  16. Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback - feeling a bit better about placing an order with Maxton now. So fingers crossed I'm going for the V1 splitter and side skirts, I'll report back on my experience for others that may be interested.
  17. Thank you whitevx, appreciate the welcome! I've been a long time Holden ute driver, but with the demise of that brand it's time to move on so I'm coming from a VEII SV6 ute. It's quite a change as I haven't had a European vehicle for quite some years.
  18. Hi there, Just wondering what peoples experiences have been with Maxton and Rieger (or any other brands) as I'm keen on the Maxton splitter and sideskirts and possibly the Rieger rear diffuser for a 2021 Octavia VRS combi? Reviews for both companies on Google, Trust Pilot and Facebook etc., are frankly quite concerning especially when I have to ship the goods half way around the world making any returns/problems troublesome. Any feedback would be appreciated as well as alternatives to these two companies, but particularly comments on longevity and fitment - pictures as always are appreciated!
  19. Hi all, hope everyone is doing well in the strange new world we find ourselves in. Just purchased a 2021 Octavia vRS wagon (or Combi if you prefer) so looking forward to learning more about the car and possible mods etc.
