The car does not respond the key
Try this (from the owners manual): The vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked with the remote control There may be the following reasons: ▶ The battery in the key is empty. › Replace the battery » page 23. ▶ The key is not synchronized. Synchronize the key as follows: › Press any button on the key. › Unlock the door within 1 minute with the key via the locking cylinder » page 25. If necessary, the key must be synchronized if a favoured button on the key has been repeatedly pressed outside

- Recommended tyre pressures - are they too high?
According to the owners manual for my '21 VRS it shows the tyre placard and the image with 3 people and suitcases is referred to as 'half load' whilst the image with 5 people and suitcases is referred to as 'full load', so it appears the number of people shown on the sticker is figurative rather than literal. I did initially think that these pressures seemed high, but then I remembered on my previous vehicle with 245/40 x 19's the tyre shop recommended 38-40psi. Additionally, when I recently had new front tyres fitted I asked the tyre shop (different shop to above FWIW) what pressures they recommended seeing as the majority of my usage is with just myself and perhaps a small amount of luggage and they recommended 39-40 which is inline with the tyre placard on the car. They also added that newer vehicles running larger wheels and low profile tyres run higher pressures than people were used to 10 or so years ago and that the higher pressures provide an element of cushioning when hitting potholes etc., which seem to be a scourge the world over at present. Add to that, if Skoda recommended a lower pressure for less weight in the car you would think that would be stated on the placard. Anyway, make of this what you will - personally I'm more than happy running the recommended pressures and have not seen any abnormal tyre wear from doing so. Edit: Just for some balance, attached is the tyre placard from a Ford Focus ST. You'll notice that it is less ambiguous than the Skoda one, showing 1-3 and 4-5 people which makes it clearer and also that the 238/35 x 19 option runs similar pressures to those recommended by Skoda for the 245/40 x 19's.- Quick question what is..
Yeah, or maybe central nervous system! 🙂 If you've been experiencing any electrical gremlins hopefully this will solve the issue...- Quick question what is..
It's basically the interface between all the different CAN networks (HVAC controls, ECU, infotainment, brakes etc) letes all the different systems 'talk' to each other. So fairly important on a car like ours with all its electronics.- Reversing Auto Brake?
As others have said it'snormal behaviour for this system. I've had it actuate a couple of times reversing into my garage, there's a small lip in the concrete a couple centimetres high that occasionally triggers it - the first time it happened **** myself thinking I'd hit something as it's quite abrupt! Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it though, 90% of the time nothing happens but on those odd occasions it does do it it is quite unnerving.- Windscreen wash fluid - what do you use (in Aus / NZ)?
^^ This! I think hard water deposits would be far more of an issue. That said, having looked at a few fluids that are approved for fan jets it seems to be more of an issue in cold climates. (Wurth for instance make a product called Windscreen Cleaner Screenwash Plus which they say is recommended for fan jets and quote "Due to the fluid's viscosity, a fan-shaped spray jet can be ensured down to a temperature of -15°C with 1:1 dilution" on their website. I've certainly had no issues using a generic fluid, mind you it's rare where I am to see much below zero temps, maybe -2 to -4 for one or two days of the year. Don't think I'll be changing until my current supply runs out.- Headlight washers
@hahei - Are your headlights switched to auto by any chance, this might explain why the washers are coming on?- Windscreen wash fluid - what do you use (in Aus / NZ)?
I've used Wurth Rapid Windscreen Cleaner ever since I got the car (05/21) and haven't had any issues with it. And technically the big container I have of it is well past its use by date! I remember reading on here somewhere that the main thing with the washer fluid was that it had to be polycarbonate safe for the headlight washers. I guess in cold climates anti-freeze qualities would come into play and if fitted with heated washers that might change something, not even sure if they are a thing on Skoda's!- Central air vent removal MK4 Octavia
This listing shows the vent from a few angles which may help... https://www.ebay.com/itm/145327885156- Anyone towed with the MK4
@HenryNZ The tow bar was supplied and fitted by my local Skoda dealer via Skoda NZ. Came with a wiring kit and towing ECU etc. I don't think they did me any favours on pricing as the car was purchased in Auckland from Tristram's. Of course it was 3 years ago now, so like everything else I'm sure the price has gone up.- Another Recall - Recall Campaign: 47U5 - Heat Protection Mat
Just to close this - everything was in order on my car, no problem at all.- Another Recall - Recall Campaign: 47U5 - Heat Protection Mat
Typical! I did search but didn't pick that up as it was under DSG.- Another Recall - Recall Campaign: 47U5 - Heat Protection Mat
Got this yesterday: Škoda Auto has identified a potential issue with Octavia and Superb vehicles within a limited production period, where there is a possibility that a heat protection mat was incorrectly fitted. Incorrectly fitted heat protection mats may expose a coupling connector on the brake fluid reservoir which could melt and cause a brake fluid leak into the engine compartment. For safety reasons, a check of your vehicle is necessary. To make an appointment, please visit skoda.co.nz/recalls or contact your local authorised Škoda dealership at your earliest convenience. The recall work will take around an hour and is of course performed free of charge. Should you no longer own this vehicle, please contact us at [email protected] We would like to apologise in advance for the inconvenience of an additional workshop visit and trust that you will understand and support this precautionary measure. We appreciate your confidence in Škoda and thank you for your loyalty. Booked in for later this week, it'll be interesting to see what they find.- 2023 VRS estate mudguards
+1 on this. Installed front and rear, relatively easy job and no issues to report.- Software version 1940
Yes, I'm the same - haven't experienced any of these issues. I've noticed that for some reason the majority of people experiencing problems (particularly ongoing issues) seem to be UK based, I wonder if it's something to do with different specs?- Mechanical key won’t lock into fob after battery change
For reference here is a photo of the key with the spring in the correct position. I have found that you do not have to remove the mechanical key to pop the cover off the key as the manual states, you can just pull it off with your finger nails or a small screwdriver, leaving the mechanical key in place and saving yourself a hassle.- Octavia Vrs 2023 - Moisture/condensation in Matrix headlights
It is normal, from page 50 in the owners manual, under Troubleshooting: The headlights are misted up on the inside Inside the headlights, moisture may occur. This is not a defect.- Is there any USB Splitter?
Hmm, had a feeling that might be the case 😒- Driving without the engine cover
@LuxoviaRS Bear in mind that the posters from UK and elsewhere that are commenting on not having engine covers due to recall have no bearing on you as Aus/NZ have a different spec engine that the recall did not apply to.- Is there any USB Splitter?

- Cooling down turbo engine, by idling engine..
More likely to be the secondary coolant pump as mentioned in an earlier post. It'll be a similar, if not the same, system as mentioned here regarding a Superb: Most later Euro cars seem to have a similar system (think Audi, BMW, Mercedes that I know of) with the usual mechanically driven water pump and then 1 or in some cases 2 auxiliary electric pumps. Some cars alsp use a secondary pump for heating/cooling when engine off or stopped in traffic.- Interior lighting
Just checked mine as I couldn't remember, the rear doors do not have the led lights - it may be different for other markets but I doubt it somehow... - Recommended tyre pressures - are they too high?
