That's madness - My replacement has already had its entire schedule submitted and amended to a month sooner than the dealer suggested and I only put the order in a month ago - i'll be getting a May 2022 delivery now. VAG need to get a rocket up their backside.

I get that error roughly once every two months. Every time i've had the tyres inspected by the local independent tyre shop and every time I get told to just reset the TPMS and carry on as normal.

Smells like smoke and mirrors to me. I suppose i'll find out next week as mine is in for 2 days for my list of issues after having waited 7 sodding weeks.

Eco mode, mostly 65-70mph, very little change in speeds, doing about 45-50 miles a day, I spend maybe 10-20 minutes a week in traffic (time my commute to specifically avoid rush hour). I did 250 mile round trip a few weekends ago and even that was an average of 34mpg for the day under the same kinds of conditions.

Last I checked, we're in a subforum related to matrix headlights on Octavia's, on a forum for Skoda's, not ****ing Audi's. It's not the same unit nor the same software. Your company may have it, but clearly you haven't been daily driving it, so again, the assumption is clearly valid.

2022 Car eh? So you've had it for a month? I'm at almost a year of the endless software problems. The lights are entirely software controlled - it doesn't require a huge amount of mental fortitude to realise the problem does it? Unlike a lot of people, mine have actually been recalibrated to spec for this country so they have less problems than they originally did, but given how many systems refuse to accept Right hand drive is even a thing, it's pretty f-ing clear you have no idea what you're talking about.

About on par with the 2L vRS then - my average for the past 3 months is now sitting at a whopping 28.3mpg

If you are in a LHD car they work as designed - if you're using a RHD car they are useless 90% of the time.

I've finally seen the SOS bug and now also have a persistent airbag warning on the dashboard. The dealer group didn't deem the airbag fault sufficiently dire to make my investigation any sooner (waited 4 weeks, still got another 3). It's a shame that the majority of these faults popped up after 6 months - a lot easier to reject before 6 months.

Ditto. Oh well, more electrical gremlins on to the already 3 page document i'm giving to the technicians at the end of the month. Maybe that's the case in a VW group car, but japanese brands have clearly mastered the skill of not wasting battery excessively, I had a suzuki with Kessy and it had the original battery after 6 years.

This. VW don't poach anybody competent because anybody competent knows their reputation. Recruiters have to resort to slimy tactics (hiding the employer until after the phase 1 interview usually) to get devs into those positions.

But at least Apple Carplay/Android Auto works every time you get in, rather than once in a blue moon, if there is a star in the east with a blood red sky.

So I had another bizarre one today, I got a warning in the morning to change the battery in my key from the car in the driver cluster. Now, i've never had to change a key battery, and my parents have never changed the battery for their 15 year old Mazda which they've had since new. So I was leaving work to go home and had forgotten about until then, and the car wouldn't unlock at all. Remembered the battery thing in the morning, then had the joyous fun of trying to find a car key battery at 7pm at night in central Cambridge. Found one after an hour and a half, so pulled the old one and sure enough multimeter confirms one completely zonked battery. I've had the KESSY crap turned off since day 1, so I really really want to know how the fob has gobbled up an entire battery in slightly over 6 months without have the always transmitting rubbish running 😧

Definitely - I'm using the latent value in my car to get something Japanese again, MY22 Corolla ordered for a June arrival, with a guaranteed minimum sum of 28k on the car as the part exchange at that point in time. Someone else can continue its beta testing.

MK8 Golf is vulnerable to CAN bus, so by extension, so is MK4 Octy.

Better option on the Mk4 is to just switch it off permanently via the infotainment. I'd switched it off before pulling away from the dealer on collection day.

7.5k miles has seen less than 1mm reduction of tread depth on the F1 A5's i've got on mine, so project that across a worst case scenario i should be seeing at least 22.5k (if i had any intention of having the car that long at the moment) on these before needing to look at replacements.

I am astounded by it myself, previous cars/brands an emergency appointment was within 48 hours of calling.

I'm now slightly over 6 months in and i'll be getting rid of this before I reach the full year. In the past month i've had: ESC & TC switch themselves off of their own accord. Auto emergency stop system trigger at *ahem* 70mph on a dual carriageway with nobody around me within a mile. No heating/vents able to be turned on (everything on the screen unavailable or showing as off, regardless of how many times i powercycled the system) with front demist and rear heating element also not functioning. Repeated complete failure of Combined parking assist, front assist and manouevre braking. High beams switching themselves on with a mind of their own ( eg. inner city in a lit area). TPMS goes off at least once a week, despite tyres always being checked immediately with a portable tire pressure unit and coming up fine. The Infotainment has to be reset once a week otherwise the SOS Call crap rears its head. Some times it won't even power the starter motor, will just power on the infotainment and not take it any further. And then the piece de resistance? An "emergency" appointment with the dealer is a 7 WEEK wait. Why in gods name would you want to buy into that when you've got a (i assume) perfectly functional mk3?

No - it's a short term fix, hence having to do it once a week. I suspect given that is what fixes it there is a memory leak somewhere in the software.

power button on the left side next to the volume slider underneath the screen, press and hold for 30 seconds. Gives a hard reset of the system and truly power cycles it. Doing it on a weekly basis also stops the SOS bug from rearing its head.

At least thats easy to fix - power cycle the head unit.

That's the matrix on auto mode, when it's full calibrated it's brilliant, but i'm still not convinced enough to leave it on permanently as it's a little inconsistent coming into towns using amber streetlights.
