Latest software update
Not sure if you meant that to be a suggestion for me but mine was upgraded from 1788 to 1803 only two weeks ago and the infotainment control unit was replaced, after waiting over 2 months for the parts. That cured several faults that I had been having. I will wait a while before looking for further fixes. Updating yourself to 1806 is, as far as I know, not possible here in Australia.

Latest software update
That has happened to me twice in the 1500kms and 3 months that I have had the car. It was resolved after leaving the car for half an hour, but not by a reboot. The last time it happened there had also been an alert when I started the car - due to the bonnet not being fully closed. It may be that that disrupted the start-up process. There were spurious warnings of failing systems as well. I halted and closed the bonnet, which cleared that alert but it was then that the media sound disappeared. A reboot did not cure it. It is not a great resolution to know that it will go away by the next drive but I don't want to report such an intermittent fault to Skoda yet. I am trying to get a better idea of what causes it. Even then it is probably something related to the software in general and we can only hope that one day there is a revision that fixes this issue.

Delivery times?
Actually, after I had done the deal, I said "Are rubber mats available" and the salesman said he would throw a set in for no charge. So I have them and they are good but I do not suppose that saved more than $200.

Delivery times?
I don't think discounting happens here either. There is a fixed price on the website. I did not even try. I just walked in ordered and paid. No trade-in, no finance. Maybe I should have tried but I figured with the overall shortage of new cars it is a sellers market.

Delivery times?
It seems to be faster here. I waited 4 weeks for mine in May. But here there are limited options and you order one of the ones that have been ordered by Skoda Australia. This is the current stock situation for Octavias: https://stock-cars.skoda-auto.com/959/en-AU/?step=filters&ModelFamily=NX_2021 There are 213 available across Australia. 62 are in my state (New South Wales). 50 are wagons (Ambition, Style, Limited Edition, RS) 10 are RS wagons. 1 is identical to mine (RS wagon, Moon White, Premium pack, no sun roof). So I guess I could order one of those tomorrow and get delivery in the next week.

Difficulty removing dipstick
So I tried using all my strength and a "short sharp pull" and it worked. The good news - the level is OK. The bad news - see photo

Brake Discs and Wheel Bearings
Oughtn't that to be covered by the warranty? Nobody expects disks to need replacement in 10K miles. For example, our 2015 Golf required a new battery after 23 months. Batteries are consumable so not usually covered. But VW replaced the battery under warranty since its life was considerably less that one would expect.

Disable headlight washers?
After being caught by surprise a few times I finally realized that my Octavia works that way too. Short press activates only windscreen washer. Long press (> 2 secs?) activates headlamp washers as well. Now I know how it works I am happy with that arrangement. But perhaps it is setup different in other markets?

Such as WD40?

Difficulty removing dipstick
My Octavia RS Wagon has around 1500kms now so it is time to test the oil level. Unlike our 2015 Golf Wagon whose dipstick is easy to remove this one, although similar in appearance, seems to be stuck. I cannot remove it. Does anyone else have this problem? I have tried rotating it before pulling but the clips seem to be intended to be aligned with the slightly squared-off sides of the tube. I have tried pulling quite hard but I do not want to break anything and the tube itself seems fairly flimsy. Like many other things in the engine bay it seems to be made of plastic.

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Wow! I would expect a demo vehicle to be as new..

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
The bank transfer part is the same here but even then the limit was too small to xfer $60000 in one day, so I got a bank cheque - just as I would have done 40 or 50 years ago, except that back then I did not have the money to buy a car for cash

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
I am not from the UK so this does not concern me directly, but aren't their limits on the amounts that can be transferred this way? And wouldn't 30,000+ pounds be outside those limits?

Disable headlight washers?
I was the one who asked the dealer to pull the fuse out - but the circumstances were a little different. The car was a Honda S2000 from 2001. The headlamp washers were controlled by a separate button - not linked to the windscreen washers. The button was placed on the central tunnel right next to the gear lever where it was easily pressed by accident. The car, apparently unlike a Skoda, had a separate fuse for this function.

KPH/MPH
While my problems were not as serious as many of yours, including the dreaded KMH/MPH issues, I am glad to say that they were eventually cured. See my thread "Aussie RS owner with software problems". They turned out eventually, it seems, to be hardware problems since they were cured by replacing the infotainment control unit. That it took 3 months is regrettable but now I am happy with my Octavia and I look forward to driving it more when we get out of the lockdown that we have endured for over two months now.

Disable headlight washers?
On this page : https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/16423/ an Octavia owner in 2018 found a way to control this by changing the delay after pressing the windscreen washers before the headlamp washers came on - from 0 msec to 200 msec. Perhaps this approach can also be applied to the Mk IV - for those who apply coding changes. There are other such pages returned by this web search: skoda octavia disable headlamp washer

Disable headlight washers?
I thought I saw a lot of water on the bonnet once and wondered how it got there. Is it really as irregular as you say? That would explain why I only saw it once. But when I looked down near the lights I couldn't see where the water could be coming from. The jets must be hidden well, or else the whole thing was my imagination. It was much more obvious on the last car I had that had headlamp washers.

E10 Fuel in a 2021 vRS 2.0 Petrol?
My car is a 2021 Octavia VRS Wagon with the 2.0 litre (180kw) petrol engine. As you can see from the info in the filler cap it requires a minimum of 95RON. Here in Australia the E10 stuff is only 94RON so we need to get "Premium Unleaded 95". Of course you might think that 94 is close enough and you may be right. I fill up with the 95, even though it costs more. At my local service station today the prices are: Ethanol 94 (E10): $1.729 per litre Premium 95: $1.879 per litre Premium 98: $1.959 per litre

In my previous car we removed the fuse. Perhaps you can do that?

Aussie RS owner with software problems
Three months after I first reported the problems and 9 weeks after they offered to replace the relevant hardware, I am a happy customer again. My RS Wagon spent today at the dealer. They supplied me with an Octavia 110TSI Mk3 Wagon for the day. They replaced the Infotainment control unit and updated the software to 1803. That fixed all 3 of the problems. To remind you, they were: Voice control never completes start-up. Inbuilt satnav spoken instructions do not work. Inbuilt maps do not show speed limits Naturally, since the system was reset, I had to re-pair my phone, re-enter my home address, set my favourite stations etc. In the process I noticed that the device appears to my phone on Bluetooth with a different name. It used to be something like "My Skoda nnnn". Now it is "My MIB E929". So perhaps that confirms that the device changed significantly. Anyway this may provide a bit of hope for those of you who have strange faults. Perhaps instead of hanging your hopes on software updates the cause may be something more basic - a faulty module that needs replacing. Now I look forward to trying out the voice control. I will probably start another thread to document what I learn since it does not seem to appear fully anywhere else.

Aussie RS owner with software problems
Today, 8.5 weeks after the part was ordered, I got the call from Skoda. My car is booked in for next Monday to have the infotainment control unit replaced. They have offered me a loaner car for the day.

Google maps directions displayed on Virtual Dash
Hmm. 660 Euros is a lot. Luckily I did not have to make that call since it is bundled into the $6000+ Premium Pack here. It is one of the nicest features of the car though. I had not noticed that it does not work with polarized glasses. I have had polarized sunglasses for 50 years but my latest ones, that I assumed were polarized, are clip-ons that go with my prescription distance glasses. It turns out they must not be polarized. I just tried with an old pair of polarized sunglasses are, you are right, the HUD is invisible. However, I have no problem with sunlight, which is quite strong here, even in winter.

Google maps directions displayed on Virtual Dash
If anyone is still at the pre-ordering stage I recommend getting the heads-up display. In addition to the speed and the ACC info it displays the navigation instructions - direction, distance etc - from either the Skoda satnav or Google Maps with Android Auto. Probably does it too with Waze and with Apple Carplay buy I don't use those so I don't know.
