So after some searching I have figure out a way to this with Android Auto. It is basic but does the job. Should be in the list for AA automatically or you may need to go to AA settings and edit the list and select it. No need to have a second device running with screen on to see real time data, I wanted to keep it on the screen in the car for ease of use and periodically checking to see if and when the car is doing a regen. Click on auto (car icon) on dashobd screen on phone and click the + button to go through the list of PID's until you find Particulate filter regen status, the message on screen will show not in progress or in progress when the car is doing a regen. If you buy the paid version you can create custom PID's but so far I have not got that far to see what can be done or not. https://postimg.cc/hQdGCNPN Literally all I wanted was something on the android auto screen that would show me the car is doing a regen and when it stops, as it happened I picked the dongle up set it up and straight away the car was stating to do a regen so I took it for a drive to let it complete, as if you don't it will keep trying and trying using more and more fuel trying to regen, so now I can see and work out how often and when its likely to do so and hopefully make sure they always complete where possible. Charge limit for service regen is 40g Charge limit for field regen is 23.37g. I assume that is the minimum soot loading figures to be able to start either if those forced regens, or if above those figures a forced regen cannot be done.

Well doing some more research using VCDS instructions, it seems it is not always possible to do a forced regen, if the ash load is too high, or if the soot load is too low it also won't do a regen. My figures seem to be ok tbh even for mostly shortish trips so it must regen reasonably well most of the time. Ash load limit is 80g Oil ash mass is 25.2g Soot mass calculated 13.28g Soot mass measured 2.25g Oil ash volume 0.06 litres So I think on those figures last time I scanned the car it seems to be doing pretty well, it's now got a bit over 60k miles on it from memory. Reading about VCDS doing a forced regen also states ensuring that lights heated seats and windows are also turned on, which you had to do with Ford IDS now I've read that it reminded me, part of the forced regen prerequisites was putting the car under load to get it to regen. I ought try to try out the regen while driving function to see if I can force it to regen on a drive as well as that is also an option but I forgot what it's called something like service drive regen or something. It seems like a forced regen can only be done if the ECU figures allow it to be done, be nice to find some figures it needs to be at to do one. I also find it strange the manual mentions the dog light but turning my telly tale lights on it doesn't have one, and I've never seen any lights on dashboard associates with the dpf in just over a year of owning it. I know some cars did not have any dpf warning lights and would just flash the engine check light and or glow plugs light. Unless a message pops up in the maxi dot display of course with the dog symbol. It really is a shame that no manufacturer to my knowledge seemed to think, let's put a dpf light that comes on when it is doing a regen so you know it is for sure and can try to avoid interrupting it. I assume the ash load limit is the maximum ash limit of the filter?

I have emailed OBD11 and have replied from them they seem interested in resolving my issue. Telling me to find instructions for my vehicle to perform a DPF regen. Telling e to go onto their forum etc. All the things I have already done and to no avail it seems no one anywhere ehas done as DPF regen on a MK3 vrs diesel Octavia. It's cost me substantial money for the dongle and 2 years now of Vag ultimate and I won't be renewing it again I wish I had bought VCDS now. So a warning that once they have your money they seem interested in any issues you may come across. Poor service in my opinion.

OBD 11 is almost as good as VCDS in terms of functionality. It reads all ECU'S and does one click changes and long coding in much the same way as VCDS.

Long time after your original post but I agree early DPF equipped cars and especially ones like my Focus that used Eolys fluid to help regenerate the DPF were indeed problematic. However my parents have a 17 reg superb that does at best a few thousand miles a year on average all short journeys and have never had any dpf issues. I think once or twice the dpf light has come on and they have had to go for a drive to clear it. I have also had my Octavia VRS diesel 18 reg now for just over a year. My journey to work is 8.5 miles each way (A and B roads) and not once have I had the dpf light on in that year of owning it. My car rarely goes on a the motorway and when it does it never does a regen that I notice. I do understand about passive active and forced regens as I have delved into the DPF world since owning my focus then MG6 diesel and now this one. I think with newer cars they are less of a problem than they used to be and a lot of problems are usually down to another system like the egr or glow plugs or something else stopping the regen taking place. To do a regen the egr valve, glow plugs, timing and fuel injection are all changed/used to aid the exhaust to get up to temp to burn the soot off. Even newer petrol cars now have god's fitted to them and have to the same regeneration. A fact a lot of people seem to not now about or even think that a petrol now has a gpf. Of course I could well be proved wrong in everything I say but like I said I have done a fair amount of research into dpf's since my first car with a dpf. My focus was totally obvious when doing a regen, including white/grey smoke out the exhaust possibly because of the EOLYS fluid it used, but I have I think once so far notice what I would call a dpf regen with my Skoda, when I actually noticed visible smoke from the exhaust. As for the other things like a harsher engine note or hesitation I noticed that with my focus but never with my Octavia. Oh and my parents Superb has done less miles than my car. 17 reg 48k at last not on Feb, mine around 60k currently offhand. The other reason I think some people experience more problems is due to mileage. A dpf usually needs replacing around 100k to 120k miles due to the ash content left behind that cannot be burnt off. Just my thoughts anyway, not picking on your post but quoted it for context.

Still not even a single reply on OBD11 forum to my question. Forums really are useless without and dialogue from others, it's hard to understand why some ground exist when you don't even get any sorry can't help replies let alone a helpful reply. Beginning to wish I had gone down the VCDS route now tbh and not OBD11. Main reason I decided to go the route I did was ease of use and always having it on my phone and not having to use a laptop or a tablet to do stuff with the car.

Seems the OBD 11 forum is a waste of time. Posted 2 days ago asking for advice not a single reply. Seems the most dead forum I've ever seen.

Has anyone managed to figure out how to do this on a MK3. I have the full pro VAG OBD11, I follow all the instructions on how to do a DPF regen while stationary and it will not work no matter how I try to do it. Change mode to EOL and enter security code etc, but the instructions say after the first time to turn the engine off but with the ignition still on and starts steps 3 to 5 again, but you cannot turn the engine off without turning the key to the off position which is what I think is stopping it from working as it breaks the connection with OBD11. I don't actually need to do one currently but want to know I can perform one if the need arises. I did DPF regens on my MG6 while I had it with Launch X431 (hooky version) no problem, I also did forced regens on my Focus when I had that with Ford IDS (hooky version) and they were so simple to force a regeneration. I have half a tank of fuel, have got the car well up to temperature etc etc, I followed every instructions online where other VAG owners have got it to work. Unless it will only work when the soot loading is above a certain amount? Any ideas?

I've used that lcode you suggested and done the basic settings as suggested. It does seem marginally better maybe but only by a tiny fraction if it is. I can't tell if the static cornering lights are even coming on though, is there any way to activate them under a test mode in OBD11 like there is with the main headlight led sections at all? It's also hard to tell if they are adjusting up or down while driving etc, not sure if the slight changes are just due to bumps in the road and or acceleration or deceleration. A run up the motorway as it was doing a regen when I pulled back up at home, so took it up the motorway and the headlights seem to reach a little further maybe but again hard to tell. Think next plan is to take it to a garage with beam tester and check the height and see if they can be adjusted up just a touch, I'd say even a tiny height adjustment would make the world of difference. Maybe it's just me and the way they work with micro adjustments but dark lanes without main beam are still troublesome. If I hadn't activated the auto main beam I'd be constantly changing between dipped and main which I never had to do all the time in my previous rapid with normal halogen bulbs.

Yeah I get the hate of the output from OBD11. I just like trying stuff to see what can or can't be changed and getting my head around how it all works tbh. I'll have a look at your suggestions when I get chance later hopefully. I thought the superb had a facelift around 2017 but it seems it was 2019, I could have sworn theirs had LED lights but maybe it is Xenon's, bit doesn't seem to have the slight delay on turning the lights on that Xenon's usually have. No LED modules in OBD11 on theirs so maybe your right. Light output is better than mine though and possibly just a finger yellower.

I assume the bit pattern led output menu is for the matrix lights as turning those led's on and off does nothing to my car. Seems odd to have an output test hat shows it is working but does nothing instead of saying function not activated or similar.

One other odd thing I was trying to find a test to light up the static cornering lights so I could check if they both were working but cant seem to find a way to test those like other lights in OBD11. I also was not able to turn on cornering fog lights with OBD11 either oddly.

Seems odd they designed the FL superb headlights so different to the FL Octavia. But hey ho. If you require any more modules history just ask as it will take a while to upload each ones history. I have no error codes presently, it just does not seem that the dipped beam projects far enough at all, I know the arguments about LED and flat beam cut off etc, but I can't remember having the issue on dark roads when I first got it. And it seems downright dangerous if they are working exactly as they should, going down dark roads in in mine i'm limited to about 35-40mph max as you just cannot see enough road ahead. Obviously I use high beam as I enabled high beam assist on it. But I have never owned a car where you have to use main all the time where possible on dark roads, even roads I use every day that I could drive blindfolded so I know where the bends are for example but the car lights just don't give you any confidence at higher speeds without having the main beam on whenever possible. Maybe I am just not used to having to use main beam all the time. It is due its MOT in Dec so want to male sure the headlights will pass an MOT of course.

I Have tried reverting the changes in the 4B module by using the backup I first made of the module. That's a picture of the headlights against a wall on level ground, roughly 6ft max from the wall. Using the diagnostics function I can test the position of the headlights and top setting does move them up a good couple of inches so there is more height adjustment available at a maximum. Obviously I don't want to alter them and make them dazzle others so maybe a trip to get the beam pattern and height tested. I also not that checking my mum and dad's Superb on a 17 reg, there lights and higher than mine, although my dad did say he took it back to Skoda as the lights were too low and they adjusted them up, and they have worked fine and never failed an MOT and you don't get oncoming cars flashing you. Also when switching left and right hand drive modes on their car they lower and also swap sides a little for direction, whereas as on mine all of does is lower them a tiny fraction no change of the beam pattern on my Octavia.

I have just noticed on OBDll in the central electrics there is also under basic settings, basic headlamp settings and also acknowledge basic settings. I wonder if basic settings needs running in both modules.

The rapid went in January and upgraded to an Octavia VRS diesel in Green.

Need some help to figure out 2 issues if anyone can help. First problem I’ve learnt is be careful making changes to 4B module as you have to run basic settings after changing anything in the 4B module, glad I now know that little nugget. So my issues are I had to run basic settings after playing around with stuff. My headlights are too low there is no doubt about that and I don’t think they are adjusting height etc while driving. I’m also getting “right dynamic cornering light value error in live data, whereas the left DCL value is 9.000000 ° Also looking at live data again for level control sensor adaption I’m getting what I think are probably strange readings. left front level control sys sensor, adaption value (zero pos) -0.01% left front level control sys sensor -0.01% left rear level control sys sensor, adaption value (zero pos) 36.40% left rear level control sys sensor, 36.40% I can add screenshots of the live data shortly from my phone. I am reasonably clued up to a degree with vehicle diagnostics but fall foul of cocking things up sometimes I have had various diagnostics for several cars I have owned over the last few years starting with FORD IDS, then Launch x431 for various makes and now OBDII. Anyone got any advice or input on remedying these before I have to go and see a decent independent to try and resolve those issues, I prefer to try and 7nderstand what’s gone wrong and how to fix it myself where possible. It’s a 2018 FL VRS DIESEL with Led headlights but not full matrix. Thanks
