  1. Quick Q guys, (and prob about to be answred by lummox) I'm looking to fit my 312's this weekend, but want to replce the copper washers that fit on with the banjo bolt. does anybody know if it's a standard 10mm washer? The brakes came off an Octy vRS. Cheers muchly in advance....
  2. Clashes with the SVAG meet, of which I went to my first of last night! My next door neighbour runs the edinburgh meet.
  3. Its a fairly easy task, I'm sure if you search there's a guide on how to do it somewhere on here. I jacked her up, offered the splitter up, figured where to cut to small parts out to aid the curve, and predrilled holes it the splitter, used self tapping screws to fit into bottom of bumper, starting from centre using tape to hold in place and a mates eye to judge the centre. Easy! Good luck....
  4. I did the very same thing this morning in the snow, about 5mph. Got a nice graze on the wheel now, and the steering wheel is about 30 degress off. I went to a local VAG specialist today, who suggests they they change the wishbone as he reckons it's probably slightly buckled. £150 to see if that works. I need to have the front ARB bushes done aswell, so he's doing that at same time for £300 all in (and fixing the leak in the boost pipes).
  5. I believe alot of other countries use a liquid solution, but this is apparently rather expensive. But on this fine island we have an abundance of fairly cheap rock salt. As long as we have have cheap salt, council's ain't gonna invest in new systems. I work in a builders merchant that sells the stuff, and also ride one of my two motorcycles everyday, and fighting a losing battle against the salt, how ironic!!!
  6. Now that looks sweet, well done Jase.
  7. I can quite happily say that the brakes on my vRS are ****. Bog standard, but the disks are now 21k miles old, and I need to get the fluid changed as its overdue, hopefully that will help, as I'm too skint to get 312's.
  8. Well, had the big service done our our vRS last weekend by a local indepedant VW specialist. Cost £400 all in for the major service, timing belt and water pump replacement. Bad news.... been told that theres a leak from one of the turbo-intercooler pipes (apparently an easy fix) and a bush on the front anti roll bar looks like its starting to break up, which is gonna be costly when the inevitable knocking/creaking sets in. There goes getting the 312's/remap early next year!!!
  9. I couldn't get my Pipercross filter to fit either, turned out to be made dodgy. Found my reciept and kicked up a fuss about it. They asked me to return it, and I got a new one within the week that fitted perfectly!!!
  10. I run T1-R's on the front end of our car. Night and day compared to the crappy Conti EcoContact II's that were on (and still the originals on the back at 35000 miles!).
  11. yeah, ive got a tube still in the garage from polishing my last bike, I just couldn't be arsed by the time I'd finished cleanin it.
  12. After many weeks of it being absolutely mingin', I decided to clean our car after the F1 today. The missus uses it during the week, I use the GSX-R for work (is a fun ride in!!!) There were lots of light scratches down the LHS which I managed to mostly polish out (missus meets tree), but it still need spray work done on the deeper ones (last photo). Overall, three hours, cleaning, T-cutting and polishing, should be easier next time..... Is booked in for the paint work in two weeks.......
  13. I run Bridgestone BT014's on my GSXR750K7, soon to switch to BT016's to see what theyre like. I find them ok, good grip when warm (had them on at Knockhill a couple of weeks ago, were really good), and reasonable grip in the wet as well, dual compund, but the new BT016's have 5 compound strips across the tyre.
  14. Mine swallowed a CD and froze up two days after getting the car. Took it to the dealer who hit it with a hammer (or something like that). Apart from that, seems to skip quite easily, but I do drive like a loon.
  15. You wanna post this in the styling/car acre section mate. Exhaust ... Autosol, is a metal polish, will come up a treat! Available at Halfrauds (I'm a motorcyclist too and like shiney things!!!)
  16. I believe it is REALLY expensive to retrofit these, and by law you'll also need to have headlamp washers (with new bumper for the holes) together with a larger washer fluid reservior, and all associated plumbing/electrickery. It's a nice idea, but too pricey I'd reckon. Wish mine had them too.....
  17. Hey guys, Look like I've got hold of some 312mm caliper carriers for my furby vRS, so if I use the original calipers, I just need a set of 312mm discs. Question is, there seems to be some different 312mm discs kicking about on VAG cars. I take it if I just get a set of new discs to suit an early TT they will be ok? (312 x 25mm).
  18. Yeah I'm STR, but through the east (without giving too much away!). Car is going in to be assessed at Nationwide tomorrow, see what the damage is.....
  19. I think it can be adjusted with the gizmo VAG.com. I find my steering very light on the VRS, but the missus likes it that way, and I'm used to army vehicles with no power steering at all!!!
  20. To answer those questions posed, I didn't offer the guy any money at the scene because i) I'm an honest guy and always do things the right way and ii) he didn't understand a bloody word of english anyway, the german tourists were lost (which looks like why they slammed the anchors on). When I say I was checking my blindspot, I was looking to the left to ensure nobody was going to side-swipe me. I have before on that roundabout had near misses several times by people not seeing cars on the roundabout and pulling out into them (I use that roundabout every day). I do realise this isn't the way to do things in the book, but I am a very well qualified driver. Had my licences for over eight years, for car, motorcycle and HGV, all of them which I drive regularly with the army. I'm sure they wouldnt trust an idiot with 18tonnes of explosives on the back of a DROPS truck. I called the insurance company tonight, who were blaming me without even hearing what I had to say. It took me 33 minutes to convince them to go to the other parties insurance company to dispute the claim. And as some people have said they won't use my passengers as witnesses, but I couldnt get any as it's a very busy roundabout where nobody in there right mind would slow down let alone stop (except stupid lost german tourists apparently!!!). Sorry guys, but this is right getting to me...... Another Q, will Skoda still honour my Warranty if the car is repaired by a national repair centre???
  21. Thanks for the replies guys. I've got two witnesses (the g/f and her mother) who both seen the car sudden slow on the exit of the busy roundabout, just when I was checking my mirror/blindspot. The best of it was, when he stopped in the middle of the road, he just got out and left the car there, no hazards or anything. His motor nearly got melted by two artics in the time we waited for the police. Just goes to show that he should never have slowed down there in the first place!!!
  22. I find the standard set-up pretty good. Can distort a little when very loud, but then you shouldn't drive with music that loud anyway.
  23. The damged bar is the front crash bar. None of it will polish out. The bumper is creased so the bonnet doesnt close/sit properly. Also needs a new headlight assembly, lower bumper grill (mounting clips snapped), number plate mounting plastic, number plate and front crash bar. The fog light assembly popped back into place luckily. Hopefully the crash bar won't rub the radiator when driving for the time being......
