  1. This taken from COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 19/2011, based on ISO 3779. 2.1 The VIN shall consist of three sections: (a) the world manufacturer identifier (WMI); (b) the vehicle descriptor section (VDS); (c) the vehicle indicator section (VIS). 2.2. The WMI shall consist of a code assigned to the vehicle manufacturer to enable him to be identified. 2.2.1. The code shall comprise three alphanumeric characters, capital roman letters or Arabic numerals, which shall be assigned by the competent authority in the country where the manufacturer has his principal place of business. 2.2.2. The competent authority shall act in agreement with the international organisation referred to in Standard ISO 3780: 2009 on ‘Road vehicles — World manufacturer identifier (WMI) code’. 2.2.3. Where the manufacturer’s global production is less than 500 vehicles per annum, the third character shall always be ‘9’. In order to identify such manufacturers, the competent authority referred to in point 2.2.1 shall assign the third, the fourth and the fifth character of the VIS. 2.3. The VDS shall consist of six alphanumeric characters, capital roman letters or Arabic numerals, which shall serve to indicate the general characteristics of the vehicle. Where the manufacturer does not use one or more of the six characters, the unused spaces shall be filled in with alphanumeric characters at the manufacturer’s discretion in order that the total number of characters required shall be 6. 2.4. The VIS shall consist of eight alphanumeric characters, capital Roman letters or Arabic numerals, of which the last four shall consist of digits only. It shall provide, in conjunction with the WMI and the VDS, clear identification of a particular vehicle. Any unused space shall be filled in with the digit ‘0’ in order that the total number of characters required shall be 8. In the case of the Karoq, the first character of the VIS (10th character of the VIN) is the model year code letter, the second character of the VIS (11th character of the VIN) is the place of manufacture code letter or numeral, and the final 6 characters of the VIS (12th to 17th characters of the VIN) are the serial number.
  2. The last 6 characters/numbers are simply a numerical sequence. The vehicles either side of yours will have been 112452 and 112454. In the case of my Karoq, the number is 007961.
  3. The letters I, O and Q are not permitted to be used in a VIN.
  4. I've had the same issue, 3 may be 4 times, with my 2021 SE Drive when parked on my drive overnight. I don't have KESSY and the keys are hanging in a cupboard, so no chance of accidental activation. What I do have however is military aircraft (RAF & USAF) flying overhead regularly so I've put it down to that. So far haven't been caught out with rain inside. Many years ago I had a Peugeot and while holidaying in the Lake District the car refused to start after a low flying RAF plane passed overhead.
  5. Was driving my 2021 (MY22) Karoq, equipped with Amundsen, when I received notification of the availability of an OTA update, even though the screen was off (clock displayed). On checking later, the navigation is now at 22.1.
  6. I'm considering the purchase of a set of rear wheel arch fenders shown here. However, on inspecting the existing fixings, my car has only the lower and upper ones. Does anyone have experience of installing them and possible longevity issues if only two fixings are used? Another thread on mudflaps/fenders had a link to an AliExpress page that has a short video in which 3 existing fixings are mentioned and re-used; the page in question now says the fenders are no longer available, though they look the same as those shown here.
  7. Just checked my 2021 (but MY22) Karoq with Amundsen and the general software is 0302, with 21.11 for the navigation. Since getting the car in August I've had notifcation of 3(?) system updates on the screen and each time selected OK; don't know the original software levels or what the updates involved.
  8. Thanks for the video. Just need to buy / borrow the correct screwdriver to get the job done.
  9. Like mistac, I too have purchased the Zoomsee LEDs. My comments are: The OE lights fitted above the sun visors are already LED. Changed the lights in the boot, glove box and rear passenger area without any problem. Those in the rear passenger area are a great improvement. Using the electrical system workshop manual as a guide (page 201), it appears the front map reading downlights require the dismantling of the lamps / anti-theft sensor mounting trim, including the removal of 2 special screws to allow the frame to swing down, this then appears to allow the bulbs and holders to be removed (page 175). Am I reading this correctly, or can the light lenses be levered out to gain access to the bulbs? Thanks for any information you are able to provide.
  10. Is your glovebox light installation different to the one shown on page 167 of the electrical system workshop manual here?
  11. I came across this Department for Transport consultation (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1021000/future-of-transport-regulatory-review-modernising-vehicle-standards-print-version.pdf) yesterday and thought it worth sharing as a couple of areas would be of interest to Forum members', i.e. 'Tackling Tampering' on page 11 and 'Improving compliance, safety and security' (a new recall regime) on page 12. Of course at the end of the day, as with any legislation, it boils down to the level of enforcement. The consultation closes on the 22nd November.
  12. Checked mine today and agree with john999boy that provided the driver's door is closed then the car will 'lock' even if all other doors are open. If the driver's door is open then the car will not 'lock'.
  13. Had a follow-up call from SUK Customer Services today checking that the dealer had contacted me to apologise for their internal systems failing; which they had last Friday. I asked SUK to confirm in writing that the 5-year warranty was in place, which they have. Have arranged to collect the car on Thursday 26th.
  14. It is still possible for a dealer that registers a car to de-register it within 7 working days (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v996-application-for-de-registration) . Thankfully it didn't come to that.
  15. Spoke with Skoda UK Customer Services today, who in turn spoke with the Sales Support Team while I was on hold, and they advised that my car does in fact have the factory 5-year warranty!! Make of that what you will. Customer Services were going to contact the dealer to put them straight. Had planned to collect the car tomorrow, but have decided to delay until next week, by which time I may have calmed down.
