  1. If the battery is fairly well charged at the start, then something like this should help to keep it happy. Assuming that the weather plays nicely, and your car isn't parked under cover: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/battery-maintenance/battery-accessories/halfords-20w-solar-maintainer-191251.html
  2. If it's cold, then the start / stop is inhibited I think, just like the dropping off of the output of the generator from 14V+ down to 13V (roughly)
  3. Me too, especially in the winter. I have a voltmeter in the 12v socket, and at about temperatures above 10 degC, then the engine needs to be running for about 30 minutes before the voltage drops down to an "idle" value. If I wasn't doing much running around, then I'd use a solar charger into the above 12v socket to keep the battery happier.
  4. My summer tyres are being kept for when the car finishes it's PCP.
  5. Living in the north-east of Scotland we never get the temperatures that occur in the south-east of England, for example, and so I have all season Michelin Cross Climates on my Karoq. The reviews I have seen don't show much improvement over "winter" tyres when the weather is really bad. If it gets too bad for the all season tyres, then I probably wouldn't want to be out on the roads. On other similar cars, eg a Qashqai, I did the winter / summer tyres dance, and invariably just after the swap onto the summer ones, it would snow, and be freezing for a couple of weeks. YMMV.

I had an Octavia before my Karoq, both the 1.5Tsi DSG options. They perform quite similarly, unsurprisingly, but the Karoq being a box shape does lose out on the consumption. My 7 miles commute on rural roads I see about 40mpg, cruising at a GPS on a motorway at 70mph sees about 45. Going up the M1 and its relentless 50mph average zones saw high 50's mpg. Performance isn't blistering, but I'm not often wanting much more acceleration. I had diesel Qashqai's before, and the performance of the diesel is better, i.e. more torque, but on almost any damp road the wheelspin prevention would kick in. The petrol Karoq is better at this, and the diesels are so complicated nowadays eg AdBlue, I steer away from them, especially as I do less than 10 000 miles a year.
  7. Which one of their meters do you have, and what made you chose it please? https://eu.topdon.com/collections/battery-tester?filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=&filter.p.tag=Battery+Tester&sort_by=price-ascending
  8. The point to note is that the car / ignition has been switched off, therefore any selections eg ECO / Sport will be deselected, and the car will be back to "Normal" until you reselect ECO etc etc.
  9. Hi and welcome. I'd say that discs now need to be changed almost as often as the pads due to the change away from asbestos and other nasties in the pads. Almost all new cars just need to see some moisture in the air, and they'll show corrosion after a few hours on the discs.
  10. Had a frost on my windscreen yesterday morning, so I'm still well happy that I have the all season tyres on.
  11. My Android Auto would only work on the cable until the big update, now it seems to work cable free all the time. My download started automatically, might be worthwhile checking that you have the data "globe" in grey at the top of the infotainment screen showing that it's enabled. If it isn't, it's red I think.

I like the "eco" setting as the engine braking isn't as noticeable. But, I go for "normal" when using the cruise control in hilly areas as the car often doesn't maintain the desired speed otherwise.
  13. The car has just done an update, and now Android Auto seems to be working wirelessly 😁
  14. I went with red for mine, hate the "undercoat" / "primer" options that seem to be the latest rage.
  15. I bought a Bosch A335H from eBay, and it fitted fine. This is the one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335010642097
