Two annoying things about S3, lights indicator and footwell lights
I've mine set to Auto, and the light symbol to the right of it is always illuminated green, regardless of whether the dipped beams are on or not. That icon is for side lights, and I'm assuming that because my DRLs are on all the time, that icon is illuminated. The last icon on the dial (the dipped beam one) doesn't illuminate when the dipped beams come on automatically.

Columbus Map updates
There's a lot of variance in quality with SD cards across brands, and sometimes some devices work better with one kind or another. I'm into photography, so I have loads of them about here for my various cameras. I always use SanDisk Extreme Pro cards, and they've never let me down (I have some that are over 10 years old and have been used for thousands of photos on multiple cameras - the only reason I have newer ones too is that they're much faster and better able to handle the huge file sizes of modern high resolution cameras), but even still, I'm always prepared with spares in case one decides to glitch out, and my GoPro is particularly finicky about the card (and size of card) it uses. Last week when I was updating my maps, I had tried a SanDisk Micro SD card in an adapter that works perfectly well with a load of other devices, and it would just not load the map file to the car at all. Then I tried with a regular sized SD card formatted as FAT 32 on a Mac, and it worked flawlessly.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Today’s jobs, done at lunchtime. Installed LED tailgate and door lights from Kopacek/Superskoda. Installed Skoda boot net kit. Replaced the Air Quality Sensor as it was throwing an error. All very easy stuff.

Columbus Map updates
CarPlay worked for me when I was updating the maps. I’m sure radio and other inputs will work too.

Columbus Map updates
You don’t need the ignition on. Just leave the car as normal, and it will slowly update in the background. I did it there 2 days ago. I started the upload process from SD card just as I sent off on a 40 minute journey, but when I got to the destination, I just parked and locked up the car and let it do its thing.

What to expect from heated mirrors
@Berisford the rear window demister was on (and working). I have it set up (via either Carista or Cart Scanner, I can't remember now) for the mirror heat to come on automatically when the rear demister is on. And I only engaged the read demister button - assuming this setting would take care of the mirrors (both the other cars work this way, so I was glad to see this option). I had tried just the setting on the mirror knob before, with similar results (it wasn't apparent that the heating was working). The mirror glass looks original, and the auto-dimming function works on both sides. Auto dipping the passenger mirror when reversing doesn't work, undoubtedly because the Seat Module is not working and the mirror memory isn't available. I was just looking there at the fuse assignments. The mirror heating elements are on interior fuses 25 and 39, along with the respective sides' central locking, mirror fold in and mirror adjustment. All this stuff works, so I guess I can count this out. I have a replacement (new) Seat Module on the way. I understand it'll need coding and CP sorted out, so it might be a while before I get that all done, but I'll take a look again after I have that fitted and working. Or I'll wait until the first frosty morning in November and see how it handles it.

What to expect from heated mirrors
I got a 2017 Combi just last week. Loving it. It has heated mirrors. No frost about in Ireland yet obviously, so no real need for them at the moment, but a cursory try of them this morning with dew/rain on the glass didn't seem to have any effect. I've a 2010 Volvo V50, and the heated mirrors on that are amazing. Frost gets cleared in about 2 minutes. Raindrops just evaporate away. You can feel the heat on your hand if you put it up to the mirror. I also have a 2010 Ford S Max, and the heated mirrors on it are weak - you can't really feel if they're on, and while frost will eventually clear, the effect isn't very noticeable, and it wouldn't do anything for water droplets. (And from talking to other owners, this is just the way they are). So I'm just wondering what to expect from the Superb. My (limited) experience so far is that it's more like the S Max in this regard. Or is there something up, and should I be experiencing better performance from them? Only error in the car is that the Driver Seat Module isn't working, so the memory function doesn't work (seat adjustment is fine). I haven't gone looking at fuses or wiring or anything - just wanted to get some feedback on the expected performance of the heated mirrors before I decide if this is something that needs to be investigated or not.

Estate vs Hatchback Boot Size
It’s the girth of the boot that impresses me.

Superb MKIII owners register
Picked up a 2017 2.0 TDI Style Combi (150bhp) on Monday. Replacing a 2010 Volvo V50 1.6D. Absolutely loving it so far, it’s an upgrade in every way.
