  1. If there were clear signals on the approach to the roundabout allowing you to proceed straight over the roundabout from the right hand lane then you may have a shot at escaping liability, however if there were no such road markings/signs I would have to say it's likely to be 50/50. Remember also that in order to avoid the loss of your NCD you will have to be cleared of all liability whatsoever, even a 1% finding of liability on your part would mean the loss of the NCD. A lot simply comes down to who gives the most credible explanation of events in court, I assume there were no independent witness statements.
  2. And now Glasses Guide has predicted residuals for the ST-2 at 1 point above the Golf GTi and 3 points above the VXR. With strong residuals and big discounts there is a compelling case for the Ford!
  3. Some firms are willing work under a conditional fee agreement (no win-no fee) but the amount in dispute will have to be over
  4. For speeding it is 6 months from the date of the offence but beware, for many other traffic offences it is 6 months from the date the prosecutor is satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with the charge.
  5. Sorry guys but unless the dealer is feeling very charitable, rejection will not be an option after 8 weeks. Repair or replacment at seller's discretion is the initial entitlement, if neither can be arranged without undue inconvenience or delay then you can move on to consider a partial or full refund.
  6. My thoughts exactly but seriously, how can a respected automotive magazine suggest what we all agree is a completely unrealistic price? They are supposed to be the experts, not us!! It makes you wonder who they have working for them.
  7. Voracious vRS: first pictures 29 July 2005 Skoda has revealed the first pictures of its hot new Octavia vRS hatchback and estate, due to arrive in UK showrooms at the end of this year. The new vRS will become the fastest and most powerful production car in Skoda
  8. I have read that the Octy Vrs has an adaptive ECU that "learns" your driving style. Is this true, does it make a big difference and does it still work after a remap?
  9. Anyone seen my red Octy Vrs parked on Cumberland Road most weekdays?
  10. My Octy Vrs has the same creaking and groaning suspension problems as many others on here, I've heard that modified ARB bushes are available that may well rectify this problem. Has anybody got any experience of these and do they really work? If so, any indication of likely cost to replace? Cheers
  11. NIP must be "sent" to the registered keeper within 14 days, date of receipt is irrelevant. A summons must be issued within 6 months of the prosecuting authority being satisfied that they have sufficient evidence to proceed with a prosection - not within 6 months of date of offence.
  12. I understand that the "PACE statement" was only required while the unsigned NIP loophole existed in order to prevent the unsigned document being treated as a confession. (although it was far easier to achieve this by ensuring that you did not complete the form yourself). However, none of this matters now anyway as the loophole has been closed and it has been confirmed that you must sign the NIP or risk being charged under S.172
  13. Technically your friend is in breach of contract by only working one weeks notice when she was contractually bound to work, if required, 4 weeks. As such her former employer would be entitled to claim forom her any financial losses they incur as a result of her premature departure (eg the cost of a temp to cover her duties for those 3 weeks, although of course they must deduct from that cost the salary that they have saved by not having to pay your friend). Having said that it is extremely rare for employers to take this course of action. Were they to do so, your friend's best bet would be to argue that she did not resign but was constructively dismissed as a result of the bullying etc. This would have entitled her to leave immediately without serving any notice at all. Furthermore, she could then turn the tables on her employer and threaten to sue them for a minimum of the remaining 3 weeks notice money that they should have paid to her following her constructive dismissal. In reality however they both agree to drop their respective claim and go their separate ways quietly. Any references must be "fair, honest and accurate", if this is not the case then the employee may have a claim against the provider of the reference for "negligent mistatement". This is however a very difficult claim as the employee must show that she lost out on any given job purely as a result of the poor reference and would have been successful had a proper reference been given. To overcome this problem the claim is usually labelled as one for "loss of opportunity" (ie the loss of a fair chance at the new job) but compensation is notoriously difficult to quantify. There are no criminal sanctions, just compensation. Hope this helps.
  14. Coil pack failed the following day (not sure if related - it was a type G coil pack) Engine management light came on after 3 weeks (still under investigation)
  15. Next service is due fairly shortly so fingers crossed they will hang on until then, current ones are L I believe.
  16. Having had a coil pack fail on my Octy Vrs recently I was surprised to discover that it still had type G coilpacks fitted. I was not surprised that one had failed but was expecting to find type H or J rather than G. The dealer has promised to replace them all foc at the next service but is it unusual to still be finding type G packs?
  17. I've got the same problem, suspect its the ARB bushes as suggested, I would be interested in knowing likely cost in sorting this as well.
  18. Just had the same happen to me, DGW said it sounded like a coil problem and indeed it was, easily sorted in less than 30 minutes.
  19. That's fantastic, thanks very much, I'll print it off and take it in with me.
  20. It seems that one of my coil packs needs replacing, although the coils were replaced before I bought the car I believe that they were replaced like for like from another car the dealer had on the forecourt rather than with modified ones. When I bought the car I was told that any problems with coils would always be sorted free of charge by skoda but now I'm being told that this is not the case as it was never recognised "officially" as a problem and no recall notice was issued to dealers. Is this correct?
  21. I know that it had the coils changed before I bought it but I don't know which versions were used, I seem to remember the salesman saying that they had come off another car they had rather than new. If this is the case should they replace them with new ones if this turns out to be the problem? With regard to fuel it is always run on Super, although had to put in some Optimax rather than Sainsbury's recently but would be surprised if that caused a problem.
  22. It was Jabbasport but they don't think its connected to the remap, although it seems a bit of a coincidence if it it isn't. Is booked in to check for fault codes on Friday but wondered if anyone had any ideas beforehand. Is this the symptom of coils on the way out then?
  23. The day after my remap I started to experience problems on heavy acceleration. As I accelerate, I lose power and the car stutters as though there is a problem with the fuel getting through, at the same time the engine management light starts flashing. When I back off, the car runs without problem and the light goes out. Has anybody any ideas as to what may be the problem? A loose battery connection was suggested but I have checked and this does not seem to be the case. Would be grateful for any suggestions. Cheers
  24. At my next service I intend to ask the dealer to carry out a brake fluid change but rather than use the standard fluid I am thinking about taking my own Super DOT4 fluid and asking them to refill it with that. Question is, how many ml will I need to take with me to refill the whole system? Cheers
  25. When everybody is posting and comparing their jabba bhp results which figures should be quoted - engine power or the higher "rule power"? Mine are 224 and 230 respectively. Which one should I use for bragging purposes??
