moved on from vRS after 7 years....
....thought i would leave a few thoughts about my manual vRS 220 (~300) estate after 7 years and 75k miles tweaks in no particular order.... H&R lowering springs Eibach Bilstein B12 Suspension for SKODA OCTAVIA E90-79-010-06-22 30-40/30mm - tunershop on ebay Revo stage 1 from 10k miles great from 3rd gear onwards new CHHB sachs clutch from 20k miles - if you remap its only a matter of time before upgraded clutch needed H&R 26MM FRONT & 24MM REAR ANTI ROLL BARS - huge improvement in cornering - dpmperformance strut brace - subtle improvement on cornering when surface wasnt smooth - less chatter michelin ps4 then ps5 tyres - great performance dry and in wet hunter 4 wheel alignment every 2 years or so - brilliant improvement in handling powerflex engine mount - some increased NVH but really cut down on wheel hop/axle tramp turbotechnics turbo inlet hose boomba racing - 2015 + Volkswagen GTI Blow Off Valve Adapter [BOV], 2015 + Volkswagen GTI Short Shift Transmission Adapter, boomba racing - MK7 GTI Short Throw Weighted Shift Knob - 440 Grams obdeleven - fantastic bit of kit - programmed lots of stuff including free cornering foglights and high beam assist turboback scorpion exhaust, well a prototype one via their ebay shop. sounded good but needed to add some acoustic matting on bootfloor..... 40" O2 Oxygen Lambda Sensor 4 Wire Extension Harness for VW Audi Golf MK7 Passat - from ebay usa for the above exhaust to stop it throwing codes.... enabled smartlink for android auto use via dealer upgraded LED bulbs all around front, rear and inside boot - the foglight ones looked the best! honeycomb front grill black skoda logo badges front and rear - expensive to have them colour coded but they looked really good! upgraded front discs/pads from mtech brakes really enjoyed tweaking the car, sorry to see it go but have moved on to another estate, with dsg/4motion and a few more toys - arteon shooting brake R

Fog Light unit replacement - 2014 Skoda Octavia VRS estate
lolol, the purpose of foglamps is to increase visibility in fog, so i'm not hugely worried about 'disturbing' oncoming road users. In the fog. At low speed the cornering foglight function with LEDs is better than with the standard bulbs

Fog Light unit replacement - 2014 Skoda Octavia VRS estate
make sure you take the opportunity to upgrade to LED bulbs when you do this - looks much better

Does this sound like a Clutch Issue?
replace with an uprated clutch rather than the same again, book a remap and wonder why you waited so long

Bilstein B8 Vrs 220 Estate
i have the same car (2016) as you and upgraded with bilstein b12 kit (i think it was b12 rather than b8 - search some of my earlier posts as i took photos of the part numbers) bigger difference in handling is upgraded front and rear arbs but factor in cost of new droplinks as well as the stock ones didn't handle the increased work through them after my ARBs were upgraded 5E5 - seached my gmail to find the ebay link - bought from germany ( tunershop-worldwide on ebay) . one of the shocks was faulty from the factory - it delayed fitting by a few days but getting a replacement and returning the faulty one was straightforward

Skoda Octavia 2014 VRS real Head ack
in my case going under the car and tapping the cat you could hear/feel rattling consistent with the matrix being in bits.
-
Skoda Octavia 2014 VRS real Head ack
not up to speed on diesels but could the catalytic convertor matrix have broken/be blocking causing exhaust back pressure issues? happened on my petrol alfa many years ago which felt utterly asthmatic when trying to accelerate

To fit a good quality intercooler, or not?
i would upgrade front and rear antiroll bars and the engine mount thingie to reduce wheelhop along with a hunter alignment for my 900 quid. a massive massive difference in handling (for the better!) which you will notice miles more than an uprated intercooler

turn signal bulb error
so it's an intermittant fault and it shouldn't be the rear as I already changed them to LED bulbs a while back. This fitting guide thread has given me the courage to go ahead and order some more LED bulbs and the replacement indicator cap pack plus a few odds n ends to tackle this upgrade that will hopefully sort the error code!

turn signal bulb error
I am a bit stumped - this error popped up but all the bulbs appear to be working ok - anyone know which bulb specifically this error refers to? Dynamic cornering light help / education
i coded this in and do like it - i did however upgrade the fog light bulbs to LED ones and this made a decent difference compared with the stock ones

DAB has not worked properly since I brought the car from new 2018
my dab doesnt work since i wired in a multiport charger to run the front and rear cameras off - even adding a couple of ferrite cores didnt help. tbh i don't miss it as use music off the sd card mainly

Obdeleven
look in the forum sticky threads

Obdeleven
only change one thing at a time then check things work before trying the next tweak. i write down what i have changed. don't ask me how i know this..........

First impression of my Helix performance clutch.

What is this part?
both of mine went within a few weeks of upgrading my arbs. i think it was due to the increased stress through faster cornering as a result of the better handling.....

Swap octavia VRS tsi 230 2018 in black 41k miles for diesel
bonkers a few alterations will make it feel like a new car rather than swapping to a diseasel upgrade front and rear ARBs (and replace droplinks) replace springs and shocks replace dogbone engine mount it will handle sooo much better. after this a remap will significantly improve performance although factor in a new clutch at some point (needed one 10k after remap due to slippage)

rev hanging / ?clutch pedal switch
Recently i have noticed the revs slow to go down when i depress the clutch. It is increasingly annoying trying to make quick gear changes. the clutch isn't slipping. Is this likely to be a dying clutch pedal switch or something else? if it is the clutch pedal switch does anyone have a code number for a 2016 petrol 220 tfsi? thanks
-
Thinking about coilovers? Do it. H&R monotubes fitted and 28/26mm H&R ARB's
my droplinks went about a month after my arb upgrade - think it was the extra stress through them due to better cornering i was enjoying
