  1. White Tsi 1.4 petrol, 2017, thousands of em according to the above link 🤣👍
  2. A bit of a time warp review , thanks for posting. The recurring theme is the quality of circa 10-15 yer old cars is superior to todays higher priced alternatives. The thunk of the drivers door closing, the clear ratchet of the seats and the buttons for everything are features I enjoy everyday. It sure is hard finding a new car that is as good!
  3. Well as promised, feedback on the new screen digitiser and…………its worked🙂 So anyone reading this thread in the future that has the symptoms of the screen freezing occasionally or in my case every other start up, then a £25 digitiser from ebay and a bit of diy is the solution. Thanks again to all the folk who chipped in with advice. What a great forum for a brilliant little car Steve
  4. Well digitizer fitted and unit is working! Cant vouch for the locking up as it was intermittent before. Ill try it next week in anger but first impressions are good. I used the “broken fixed” video suggested and the Ebay screen linked by Steve jd I hadn’t appreciated or realised you had to go down to T6 Torx so a quick trip to Screwfix afforded me a 5/6/7/8/9 set for six quid. I hastened to Prezafabs warning about making sure the sd card readers were seated. Fiddlyest thing was getting the thin aluminium screen surround off as once I loosened off one side , the opposite side popped back in Total time from in situ to re installed 90 mins.
  5. Thanks Paul , I agree on a scale of diminishing returns a replacement digitizer is a low cost first option. I believe the battery to be original so Im not ruling that out. Plastic trim picks and screen per SteveJD suggestion. Lastly torx driver set dusted off from the garage. If I get a chance to fit it next week when it lands Ill feedback onto here either way. Thanks to everyone for their input 👍
  6. Steve , thanks for that. The video and the next one it linked to all seemed straight forward. Looks like Im buying a new digitizer and some plastic iphone type tools for trim removal. Then deep breaths and go for it! Steve
  7. Good afternoon, I have tried searching but nothing was coming back with my search string. I have a 2017 1.2 Outdoor that has done 54,000 miles. Over the last three months ( and most noticeable on holidays) the touch screen becomes unresponsive. If I do a hard reset ( hold power down 10-15 sec) the device re boots and everything works. Then maybe two or three days later , the problem returns. I can live with re booting , but recently a new “ feature” has appeared. Whilt driving along not using the sat nav or radio, the screens suddenly start a random sequence of POI/ location/ three routes/ POI literally changing on their own every second. Again a re booting stops this and normal operation is resumed. Research on the web suggests Digitizer Dirt on screen Low battery voltage In order, I understand digitizer issues effect one area eg unable to put in post codes etc, this is not the case. Either the whole screen works, or nothing works except the first screen prompt you touched which remains green Dirt on screen, I have cleaned the screen with a spex wipe. Low battery voltage, the first time we witnessed the problem was after a 200 mile mostly motorway run. I have no slow cranking. The issue also start right off the drive eg just set off. I use a local indy for service and so they cannot do a firmware update , they suggested a radio / infotainment specialist. Any suggestions, the thought of £1000+ for a Skoda unit does not attract me. Thank you in advance for your suggestions or advice Steve
  8. When the air con is on in my 1.2 petrol , it makes a fluttering sound whilst driving. Easy to check, as others have indicated above , turn off all ventilation AC fans etc and see if the sound persists.
  9. Hi I cycle a lot and can fit my 50 cm road bike in with both wheels fitted if I move the passenger seat fwd about 3”. i carry the bikes with the seats in just folded flat , if I take my wifes E bike or my MTB I have to remove the front wheels as they both have flat bars and in order to have the bars pointing at 12/6 oclock the front wheels need to come off. With a road bike you can angle the bars and tilt the front wheel up . HTH
  10. Just had mine done at Skoda Ellesmere Port, £550. It was £500 when I enquired in Oct 21!. Mine too was only 22,000 miles , bit of a sickner really. Re the water pump Im sure I read it on here for the 1.2 Tsi engines the water pump was independently driven and should be done every “ other” cambelt change.
  11. Stu , in a very similar place to you. Just today the Yeti took me and my mountain bike plus gear for a day out. We have been clearing out my mother in laws house so numerous trips to the charity shops or tip. The Yeti does it all. so Im at 5 years AND contemplating the £500 cam chain service. I think on balance I will keep it and await developments in EV’s as the next option
  12. Roottoot you are right, they had four Yeti’s on the forecourt, most began with a £15, which made my offer of £14 seem sensible. Its just the current offering is so bland compared to the quirky nature of the Yeti. I have to say the sales guy was both grounded and knowledgeable, a rare combination in sales people.
  13. Not a strange question, just throwing it out there. I had some time on my hands this afternoon and perused my local Skoda dealership and enquired about a Yeti trade in. Yes sir I was advised Yeti’s are desirable, so I looked at the second hand stock. What a boring pile of metal. The Scala was nice as a small estate care. There was a lovely Kamiq with a sun roof Monte Carlo ( enough said) . I looked at the Karoq our nearest equivalent and even entertained the Octavia estate. Then I got back in the Yeti and thought “ what a nice place to be”
  14. Thats a really neat job and clearly your NCB and £350 are still intact. 😀
  15. I had a Suzuki bike, a cursory check before its MOT showed the front brake light switch was faulty. Googling showed plenty for sale, but not before following mornings MOT! Incidentally other people had posted , immerse switch in WD40 overnight. With nothing to loose I ziptied a small plastic bag around the switch, flushed it through with WD and left. 12 hours later switch working like a gud un, no mechanical intervention needed, Mot pass.
  16. As a new Yeti owner I cant sense the changes that have occurred over the last 9 years. However I can comment on intolerant posters as they appear not just here but on other forums. The lockdowns have created both tension and time and people have lost their sense of perspective. I feel release of tension and energies that would formerly be released by pursuing extra social activities are channelled into keyboard battles. Two large events Brexit and the pandemic have spawned two previously unknown factions. Hence a question about something car or bike based becomes entwined in political sniping. Thats my theory and I regretfully don’t have an answer as to when civility will return. The only thing I may suggest is , if the good guys leave then the snipers become the heart and soul of the forum and thus more good guys leave. So use the ignore block button and the strength of the forum regulars should prevail.
  17. I was quoted £500 at Skoda Ellesmere Port including vat fitting inc 12 month warranty
  18. In fact just have an enquiry into a VAG specialist in Neston Unit 20. If that’s successful they are only 10 miles away
  19. Cheers Aubrey . Im in East Wales very close to Chester. I can google VW specialists, but do any members on here know of good VW specialists in my area. thanks in advance for the advice steve
  20. Robjon thanks for the link I have just followed it . There is reference to costs from £500. Plus more narrative.
  21. Well thats a bit of a disaster for me then , my car has only done 16k and has Skoda FSH so I thought I was buying a “ gud un” looks like I have been sold a pup! Does anyone know the appx cost of the belt change ( I guess waterpump at the same time). thanks in advance steve
  22. Im watching this with interest as only last week I bought a 2017 1.2 tsi with lower miles than yours. Steve
  23. Yep still riding the F700GS although not so much with all the lockdowns last year in Wales. Im waiting for photos of the L&K circumnavigating the Nurbergring soon
