Dashcam Hardwire Advice
Hi all. I know this subject has been covered to exhaustion on these forums, but I thought I might ask in case there has been any updates/recent "gotchas" since those threads have been posted. Thinking of getting myself a new dashcam (Probably the Viofo A129 Duo or one of the upgraded 4K versions.) with parking mode and hardwiring kit (Probably the HK3) to replace an old dashcam which is currently powered by the 12 volt lighter socket. Did a dry run where I practised removing and refitting the glove box since I heard that dampener rod is pain to reattach (It is but it can be done with enough stubbornness and foul language patience 🤣). While I had the glove box out, I took a picture of the fuse box to see what available fuse positions there are. It turns out the last owner of the car had a dashcam in here before and left a fuse tap in what looks like position 37 (Left Headlight). Is this an appropriate place to wire in a switched supply for a dashcam or should I move the fuse tap to somewhere else? What would be an appropriate fuse position for the "ACC" wire for the parking mode? Car is Octy VRS Mk.3 prefacelift (66 plate for presumably MY16?) Many thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention it's the TDI engine

Skoda Octavia 3 Owners register
2016 (66 Plate) pre-facelift Mk.3 Octavia VRS in Quartz Gray. Brilliant Motorway commuting vehicle but also fast enough to have some (responsible!) fun in when on the diversions away from them.

Mystery Box Under Front Passenger Seat
Funny you say that. A friend commented that it did look like a heating of some sort and it was giving off some warmth. 🤣 On a related note, if I did decide to get a hold of one of these underseat umbrella storage boxes to fit myself, would there be enough clearance to do so given the amp is there? I'm going to guess probably not (And why the car didn't come with one in the first place)

Mystery Box Under Front Passenger Seat
Hello again. I have yet another question about my Mk3 Octavia VRS PFL. While looking under the front passengers seat to see if I have the storage tray fitted to it in some models, I found this thing under it instead. Not sure what it is. It does get a bit warm. Anyone want to shed light on this mystery? Is it anything to do with the upgrade Canton sound system that was fitted by the last owner in this car?

VRS MK3 Underbody Question
Many thanks. Just curious as to what it was as I never seen anything like that on any previous car I owned.

VRS MK3 Underbody Question
Hello all. After a lot of searching and waiting, I finally got my hands on a 66 plate pre-FL Octavia VRS. Been enjoying using it on my commute to work so far. Just wondering if anyone knows what this bit sticking out on the underside is. Is this normal? It looks like a bunch of cooling or aerodynamic fins but I have no idea. Picture is attached. Apologies for the blurry nature.

Trying to go for a Octavia VRS TDI (06/66 plate preferable) with front parking sensors
So, after a very lucky few months at work and the part exchange value of my current car as high as it probably will ever get, I potentially got the money to put a deposit on an Octavia VRS. Looking for a TDI in the £30 VED bracket (So basically 16 or 66 reg plate from what I understand) to keep the running costs as low as I can due to the miles I clock up on the motorway to work, while still having the potential for a bit of fun. I noticed currently, possibly due to the used car market being in a bit of a bad state due to the new car shortages, that these are a bit lacking, especially ones with front parking sensors which are rare as hens teeth. With that in mind, how difficult and expensive would it be to retrofit front sensors that integrate into the infotainment system? I appreciate this might be better asked in the owners sections of the forums but as I don't have an example as of yet. Would it be better to keep waiting until one with factory fitted front sensors shows up or just get an aftermarket/OEM solution fitted to a basic VRS instead? Would going for a more expensive example with a 17/67/18/68 plate make the process easier? Should I just give up on getting and just be very careful with my parallel parking? 😅 It seems to be slightly easier to get petrol driven examples with the front sensors option fitted. How much worse is the fuel consumption on mostly motorway commutes if I decide to go with one of those instead? Are they any other showstoppers I need to be aware of before putting my money down at the forecourt? Thank you all in advance.

Greetings from Glasgow, Scotland
Thought I might drop in and say hello before I start asking some technical questions. Hoping to get an Octavia VRS soon but depends on how the used car market acts in the next few months. Please to meet you all.
