  1. @Doogethanks for that. Probably will get the mechanic to do it to replace any worn shocks at the time. Wasn't sure what ride height would be suitable as reading on this forum, some Octys, mostly VRS ones, come lowered out of the factory.
  2. Going to ask in this thread while it's here. What would be the right Bilstein shocks if I wanted to go down that route? Car is a Octavia 3 VRS 2.0 TDI. Build codes list 0AE Front stabilizer bar, 0BN Rear stabilizer bar, 0N4 4-link rear suspension, 1JE Rear shock absorption, sports version, to mention the most relevant ones to do with suspension. I'm not sure if it is at standard ride height or lowered from the factory/previous owner mod. Picture of the front wheel.
  3. How up to date are those maps compared to the current ones on the VW portal.
  4. Thank you for this. Now just need someone to figure out how to get it working with more up to date maps, if it is even possible.
  5. I'm guessing this is only for FL models because I have a PFL Octavia with an MIB2 Amundsen and Skoda Connect services are not an option for purchase, at least from what I can see.
  6. Just need a workaround for MIB2 Low now, if any.
  7. I agree with that. I use a A129 variant and it uses a GPS base like that
  8. Ideally I would rather get the tank replaced and get shot of the bag. However I have had an indie VW specialist look at it already and they claim they cannot see any signs of a silica bag and they are aware it is an issue. I've corroborated this myself by examining the tank repeatedly using a bright torch and checking the colour. It is possibly the last two owners of the car before me removed the bag but didn't change the tank, which still has the "Mit Silikat" markings on it. I'll obviously keep a close eye on it but so far, touch wood and every other material available, the aircon has not shown any issues.
  9. Didn't I read somewhere on here or elsewhere that the double skinned tanks were less likely to simply dump silica into the heater matrix or am I misunderstanding? For the record, I can't see any sign of the silica bag in the coolant tank in my Octy Mk3 and the coolant is still a vibrant pinkish-orange but it does look like the double skinned tank variant.
  10. This is probably going further from the topic of the thread, but with regards to replacement of the indicator bulbs, I know that LED replacements aren't road legal, but a lot of people still use them as replacements anyway. If I wanted something that is 100% road legal and guaranteed to pass the MOT, would it be better to just stick to some long life filament bulbs?
  11. Another thing. Is the bulb part code "PWY24W" or "PYW24Y" as I've seen it mentioned both ways in the workshop manual?
  12. Thank you for that. How hard is it to cut through the plastic? Does it easily give way or am I going to need a fair amount of force?
  13. Anyone got any suggestions for a cutting tool that will fit in the space to cut out the hole to access the indicator bulbs? I have tried looking for the scalpel handle in the original guide but can't find anything suitable.
  14. Well, as for my experimentation, I now found it was too quiet! 🤣 Set the volume to around 75% which seems to be more of a happy medium so far.
  15. Ooof. Unfortunately not sure about that one. Sorry.
  16. In my case, it turns out you can carefully pull the end cap of the rear wiper arm off and then pull the actual nozzle underneath off, making the process a lot easier.
  17. OK my version of OBDEleven did find module A9. Put the volume down to about 50% and we'll see how it goes.
  18. "Ludicrous speed" would be useful for certain journeys 🤣
  19. Edit: oops you said you had MIB2 but this old thread details the problems some people had activating the sport menu. Basically you need ODIS (dealer software) and not obdeleven from what the replies say.
  20. I was lucky to see one going for basically half price. It has a bit of wear and tear but I can live with that.
  21. My Octavia is a hatchback so yes compatible.
  22. I will probably go with the duct tape. How exactly is the OEM solution meant to work anyway?
  23. No. They are exactly the same. Tray seems secure enough. A search shows an older thread about the fitting and suggests I need to take some side panels out? Which is slightly concerning. As I said though, the tray seems secure enough at the moment. Anyone who wants to advise otherwise please let me know.
  24. So finally managed to source one of these things for some extra boot organisation. The fitting instructions indicate that a couple of flat springs and clips need to be installed. However I didn't see an obvious place to fit them and the tray itself seemed to just slot into place and remained secured by some sort of detent in the end of the rails the tray fits in anyway. Is this something I need to worry about? Am I missing something obvious or are the extra parts unnecessary in the later revisions of the Octy?
