Goodbye Skoda
Having sold my Karoq back to the dealer, I will be leaving the group. I have had some difficulty with DVLA, with it taking 6 months to renew my licence due to referral to their Medical Review Team. I am deemed fit (although others may think otherwise!), but any further medical issues, or recurrence of older ones may remove licence. Don’t want to be stuck with a car I can’t use.

Sagittarius 19" alloy cover loose and fell or theft?
One option is to remove the other three wheel covers, clean the wheels and leave them exposed. You can get a set of wheel centres, etc from a Škoda dealer.

All in One
Thanks. I had suspected a pro rata deal. Was advised that the fourth service was an expensive one, and 12 monthly payments wouldn’t cover it 😱. As I have only covered just over 8000 miles, in three years, will probably not bother (🤞). I managed to renew my licence, which arrived after 5 months of waiting, having been referred to the Medical Assessment Unit of DVLA, but have some work to be done on a heart problem, so medics could strike me off at any time, if they think I am not fit!

All in One
Can’t find anything in search, so will ask here. Car now 3 years old, and been offered All in One warrant/service/mot package for just under £1000 or £39 a month. Asked about transfer if I sold car, and also what happens if on monthly payments. Am I liable for paying it all off at time of sale, or continue monthly payments to end of contract. Dealer shrugs shoulders / “Will be in paperwork that Škoda will send”! So, anyone here got the answer? I need to be sure as, at my age, driving licence renewal is always a bit dicey🙄

Not able to save Ambient lighting settings
Back to the dealer, in that case, as it seems to be broken. Although my dash shows the selected colour, in front of me, the rest only show up when it starts to get dark. The door colour shows up only on very dull days, in daytime, and very faint then, but super bright in darkness.

Not able to save Ambient lighting settings
When on the menu “page”, where you can select the colour, at the top you can select auto or manual. Select manual, then tap colour - job done. If in auto, it seems to pick, on mine, a grey/blue colour.

Beware OTA Software Update!
Hope to be selling my car next week, so will leave it for dealer to do. Happy to just keep cancelling the update. Never bothered putting personal details in, so nothing there to worry about, if I do the install. PIN?

Beware OTA Software Update!
so, is it now safe to accept it? It keeps nagging me, but concerned at what might happen!

Hazard warning for lights
Driving home yesterday (in broad daylight) my headlamps came on (on auto), along with hazard triangle and light bulb icon, both orange. Tapped “car” on centre screen and message “check right hand high beam”. Got home, and flicked lever to high - no right high beam. Thinking that would be an expensive job, resorted to wacking the light unit with my hand - and it worked! Out again today, and lights on - no warning came up - sorted!👍 Until the next time😂

The automatic switching on headlights
My Subaru XV would also switch on way too early, so have accepted the Karoq doing it too. Yesterday was a great example - 2.30 pm in blazing bright sunshine, and on they came. See my next topic re headlamp hazard warning that came on with them!

Are you one of us?
Yesterday, I saw a bright (ASDA) green Karok, with huge wheel arches, loud exhaust and really mean looking. Driving down Outram Street in Sutton in Ashfield. I don’t want the wheel arches, but a sporty exhaust would give the Sportline a little bit of street cred!😀

New car time!
I have never had the connected services, as I did not buy the car(s) new, one being ex demo, and one pre registered, so as second owner, this was not either already enabled, or not mentioned at time of sale. As coming up to 3 years old in March, might have to look into it, as would be up for renewing (if I have it) after 3 years.

2018 Karoq 4x4 2.0 TDI SE L - extended warranty and tyres/wheels?
Just a comment on the warranty question. My dealer has also offered a 3year extended warranty, including service and MOT tests, at a good price compared to the Skoda extended warranty. Downside, is servicing has to be done by dealer, for their offer (as it is them I have prepaid). I hope to move south, next year, so would have to bring car back to them. They are not part of a big chain, but a two branch independent dealer. Skoda warranty would allow service anywhere, as would buying dealer warranty from, say, Vertu, with branches all over. Have a good read of your dealer’s warranty conditions, before deciding, in any case.

Just ordered a Elroq VRS to replace Tesla Model Y
Now’t wrong with bright colours. For my Karoq, I had the choice of grey, silver, black or orange (pre-reg but new), so a no brainer - orange it was! Now looking at Elroq, but only seen the black in the showroom. Will get online, and do a build or three!

Chargers compatible with Elroq 85
Wish I had read this thread before, as have been in dealer discussing getting an Elroq. There is an offer of 0% interest and a free home charger. No idea of make, but must be “approved”, if part of their deal (I hope!). Will find out more, if I go ahead.

Is this a scam, or a VWFS muck up?
Well, it is not a scam (thank goodness), but egg on Škoda face for such an obvious error. Seems @comms.VWFS.co.uk is the commercial arm, that sends out advertising emails (comms = commercials, which is what used to call adverts!). Also found that dealer would do a better deal, for two services, two MOTs and two years warranty. Also, very tempted by the smaller EV (0% on PCP and free home charging point). Decisions decisions!

Karoq wheel change?
My 2 wheel drive came with 18 inch wheels, from new in 2023. There was a short period when this size was fitted in place of 19 inch by Skoda. No complaints regarding ride comfort.

Is this a scam, or a VWFS muck up?
Got an email, out of the blue, apparently from VWFS, offering a service plan. No problem, as had the last of my two free services, so expecting something like this. (Dealer only offered one discounted service). However, reading through the attachment (all professional and correct looking), I noticed an error, where they had printed the same paragraph twice (Expert Care). Had to print it and then scan relevant part (over two pages!). Not sure VWFS would send out something with such an obvious error, so clicked on sender details which were slightly different to the other VWFS emails I have received (paid off loan, recently). Will pop into dealer tomorrow, and see what they think.

Aero inserts on 19” Alloys
No great hassle to take off the plastic, and wash the wheels, when washing the car, even if you only do it every fourth wash. Nothing worse than being a technician, removing plastic to remove wheel, and getting a dirt shower!

Octavia VRS Hunt
Having bought cars, back in my youth, with the oil pressure switch wire pulled off, and found them empty of engine oil, having got them home, I can sympathise with you - but luckily, my dad was an old school mechanic for an Austin dealership, and could fix anything.

Sun too hot on the dash - or what?
Yes, some sort of expansion, I expect. Poor car is not used to being outside, at home, and Is in direct sun on drive. Damn this climate!😂

Sun too hot on the dash - or what?
Well, if not the sun, I don’t know what. Parked up in the shade, for a couple of hours, started up, and this time had the last journey stats showing. Pressed buttons, twiddled twiddler, and away it scrolled, and I could reset it back to my favourite style. Today was only second day parked outside, at home. Had to empty shed, as partially collapsed, so all gone into garage, so will have to see if it behaves itself.🤞

Octavia VRS Hunt
You might be lucky, but your age range may cost a fair bit more. There is a 2016 (66 plate) 2.0 tdi 4x4, 85000 miles, on sale for £11995, not too far away, at Tibshelf, Derbyshire. This is a small used car dealership, so never will be a Skoda Approved car. For your budget, you will either buy a well used (or abused) 2015, or have to go for a much earlier model. Good luck, all the same.

CTEK CT5 Start/Stop, Battery Charger 12 V and why I bought it
I remember seeing, for a number of years, dealers using small solar panels, laying in the windscreen/bonnet area, with wires into engine bay. These give a small trickle charge to the battery. My local Kia dealer used them, but that was 13 years ago, so probably not “smart” enough, for modern electrics/electronics.

Sun too hot on the dash - or what?
Very hot, today, but might this be the cause of a problem I have. Virtual dash set on Classic, and with speed repeated in centre. After third stop, the centre shows Assist setting options for cruise (not ACC), or limiter (warning sound if exceed set speed). This will not go away, just scrolls between the two options, and change menu button has no effect. If I press scroll wheel in, it turns on whichever of the two are highlighted. Normally, I never use either of them. Can change dash style, so that button works, but that is it. Will check again later tonight, to see if cooler temp can clear it.
