  1. There should be a link to an album at the bottom? It's set to public so should work  There are quite a few hence using a photobucket album rather than spamming the thread!!
  2. Unfortunately not as it would require the fixing points be removed from the car. Sorry
  3. Hi all! I haven't frequented the forum for a while now owing to having a company car and not actually owning a Skoda any more. However, I have returned baring gifts! For all you lucky Briskodians, I have a relatively rare piece of Skoda history on offer: Skoda Felicia Fun - 1998 Yellow Pickup 1598cc Petrol 41,721 miles Tax Expires 30/12/12 MOT Expires 30/05/13 This car has been in our family since it was new. Owned firstly by my Grandparents and now by my father (a long time Skoda enthusiast and employee.) The time has come to pass this rare car on as we no longer have facilities to store the somewhat large collection of Skodas now owned. Anyone looking to buy this car will probably already know much about it. This particular one is a ’98 1.6 petrol with half leather interior. It has had a removable yellow canvas load cover fitted which has two separate configurations for whether the rear seats are deployed or stowed. Good points: · Low mileage at just short of 42k · Half leather interior which not all Funs benefited from · No dents or damage to the bodywork · All electrics work as they should · Starts first time, drives and runs wonderfully · Long MOT · Been maintained using genuine parts at a main dealer quality (one of the positives of working at a Skoda main dealer!) Bad points: (all pictured) · Cracks formed in areas of the fibreglass body mouldings · Rust coming through in a couple of areas · Where the cover has been fitted, the fixing points have been drilled into the fibreglass More than happy to answer any questions that I can. Thanks Photos to come £1,500 to fellow members EDIT: Really sorry for wait on the photos guys. As promised though: http://s184.photobuc...25/jaf4636/Fun/
  4. Hi, where are you located in the UK?
  5. Hi Paul To what value do you consider a cheap PX?
  6. Very good plate, got to be worth a bob or two!? Also nice car, keep toying with the idea of going back to petrol and getting one of these myself as the pre facelift look such good value for money these days. I hope you get years of trouble free ownership enjoyment out of her!
  7. Having used one before, IMO it is 100% placebo effect.
  8. Does anyone with experience of 1552 know how to set the little beep to sound when the car is locked or unlocked from the remote key? I think the procedure is the same on any A4 platform car. I know of a mk1 Octy vrs that does this and hoping to set my Leon to do the same. A step by step guide would be perfect if possible. Many thanks.
  9. I coincided getting my Cupra with the massive hike in fuel prices... I decided to throw caution into the wind and just enjoy it. Even spirited driving sees 45+mpg so it's not doing me too badly. More than anything, it's the psychology behind it all which infuriates me. The passed few years have seen nearly a 40pence per litre increase across the board and we are all supposed to be jumping for joy when fuel goes down by 2pence per litre...? The govt. and oil company CEOs are having a laugh (on their mega-yachts or private helicopters probably) at our expense. The general public are being bent over!
  10. I wish the Leon sounded like this!!!
  11. I hear that with a remap and filter etc these can see 190bhp I would love to have a drive in one that has been done for comparison sakes. For now though, i'm happy (and reasonably so is my wallet come insurance renewal) with 150
  12. Well got the Leon a couple of weeks back now. And what can I say, I love it! Perhaps I don't quite know what turbo lag is, but it doesn't seem left wanting for power when you plant your foot. It just ups and flys! Coming from a 110 it clearly feels vastly quicker, a noticable difference is that the power doesn't seem to tail off until much later in the rev range. I also enjoy having 6 gears for cruising, but find myself chinging gears more often in normal driving. So far I have averaged roughly 48-50 mpg which is no doubt less than the Octavia, but then there is always a novelty period with a new car and I must admit, stretching her legs puts a big smile on my face! The engine itself is also quieter and smoother being PD which is also a welcome change and being a Cupra, the suspension is a bit lower and stiffer than the Octavia but maintains comfort and smoothness on all but the most potholed and rutted roads. Now for the asthetics! Seemingly the only difference in size is the smaller boot. Rear legroom is the same and head room seems unchanged also. The dash and finish feels as solid as the Octavia but I must admit it looks a bit more 90's and dated. The exterior looks are a big plus point for me. Myself being 20 years old, the Octavia always looked a little like "Dad's car" (despite the addition of a vrs spoiler and the endless hunt for a front bumper!) so the Leon certainly looks sportier. All in all I'm very happy with the choice of new vehicle. I'm now aquainted with SeatCupra.net but am yet to post on there. I think despite departing the brand I will stick around on the Briskoda forums! I should take this opportuinty to thank all the many awesome members who helped me plenty and shared their wisdom when I found myself in a tight spot! This forum is the friendliest and most welcoming I've ever been part of, hence sticking around!
  13. Then damn well change it! Why do people put silly text like this in adverts. Even if it doesn't bother him using the key in the lock, as a buyer I would want to see the remote fob actually work. For the outlay of roughly £1 aswell...
  14. I was going to comment on those lights But it seems everyone else beat me to it.
  15. Excellent advice, the very reson why even if I go to a Seat, i'll still be using this forum. Thanks very much!
  16. Ok thanks for the adivce. Is inspecting the camshaft just a 10 minute job to remove the rocker cover like the old vauxhalls I'm used to? That's interesting about opting for the 130. I'm going to have a drive of this Cupra and see how I like it. If the turbo lag is as plentiful as you say it might be an issue, a Fabia vrs could be had for similar money. That said, I'm not a fast driver on the roads, so if it drove like an SDi normally it wouldn't be an issue :p As long as the power is there for when it want's to be driven harder i.e taking it round a track/airfield. Ideal situation would be to have something dirt cheap and reliable for every day then a second car for having fun in at such events. I'm just not in a position to have 2 cars, hence looking for something which is a bit of a jack of all trades.
  17. Thanks for this So when I have a drive of this one i'm going to look at, is there any signs I should look out for if things aren't right? As far as I know it hasn't been mapped but it has done 100k miles.
  18. Hi all I'm trading my Octavia soon and have come across a nice Leon Cupra 150TDi. Does anyone have much experience with them? 150bhp seems like a lot to ask from the same size engine which only produces about 70bhp in SDi guise. How's the reliability? How are they to drive? Obviously I'm looking for something a bit sporty and more exciting than my Octavia. Thanks for your help!
  19. The tricky thing with this situation is a case of when did the bulb blow? I suppose many drivers would protest it had only just happened 2 minutes beforehand even if it had been like it for a few days. It's impossible to know otherwise unless you see the same car day after day. Maybe looking at it like this might help restore a bit of faith: Think how many bulbs must blow everyday in relation to the amount of cars on the road, I would guess at lots. Maybe it is different where you live, but I would say that it's probably less than 1% of cars you see with blown headlights. That's not that bad considering a bulb is a perishable and there's no telling when it might go. As said, with it becoming such an involved job to merely change a bulb, even carrying a spare bulb isn't worth it since you'd need to carry a workshop and half a tool kit around with you too. Maybe i'm just playing devil's advocate, it does annoy me too when I see cars driving with just side and front fog lights. Just brining a bit of balance incase one day your bulb blows and you have people 1 mile down the road thinking the same about you. Let's all just hope and pray for those lighter evenings and earlier sunrises so we need ot use the lights less!
  20. Is the £4200 the reviewed price or is it £500 off that? Pretty sure I already know the anwser :p Thanks
  21. That's a shame as it has had positive results for other sufferers of this issue. Still worth a shout for the OP though. You never know, it might not be too late yet! I run a bottle thorugh every few months now to keep on top of it. Whether it works or not? Who knows, hopefully I'll never find out and then I can deem it worthwhile
  22. As already metioned, people just seem to sprint between them, using heavy acceleration and heavy braking all the way up the road. In that sense they are contributing towards far less economical driving and higher emissions which the government seems so damn worried about these days. And the gaps of acceleration inbetween the humps are probably less safe than if a car was doing a steady speed in the case of a child walking out into the road etc as the reaction time and physics of an accelerating vehicle would increase stopping distance. I think it's just another scheme thought up by someone in an office somewhere who it doesn't affect so why worry. "Must be seen to be doing more for road safety... More cameras and speed bumps ought to do it. Does it actually work? Who cares... it looks good on the report."
  23. For the small outlay, it might be worth running through some fuel additive (there are a few out there designed for this sort of application) in a very strong consistency (i.e a full bottle to a full tank) followed by lots of heavy right foot driving. This has been met with limited success in the past. Might not solve the problem completely but might help, and possibly worth the tenner or so the bottle of juice costs. If limp mode comes on, stop, cycle the ignition and set off again. Just a suggestion, but good luck!
  24. I considered the same in the past but never did it. The impression I got was to try and find a PD130 Octavia equivilent to yours. It makes sense so you don't have the hassle with insurance or the worry of over stressing anything on an old engine. That said, the old TDi engines do seem to be very strong and at 80k, I'm sure that yours has plenty of life left in it even with a remap. The thing to watch out for most people say is the clutch as they are prone to start slipping in the weeks after a remap due to the sudden torque increase.
  25. In my opinion the 20's really detract from the look of the car, not at all in touch with the styling. But that is just my opinion. If you like the look then that's all that matters. Irnoically though you're not the one who has to look at it when you're out driving haha
