  1. Guest and primary are individual profile so it's possible to have one voice control activated on one of the profiles only I think. I,m sure an expert will correct me if wrong.
  2. I think you can activate or disable in one of the menu Mine was set to off hence why it didn't work.Still yet to activate and try though.
  3. My apologies for not reading more carefully your question. I fitted the Skoda ones from that thread. I also thought they were too short when compared to my previous car but they look better in my opinion. I haven't been through a winter yet so can't comment on their effectiveness with salt/grit. I did holiday on a farm and was surprised at the lack of mud sprayed up the sides, wheel arches still very dirty though. Also the greater clearance of the shorter style came in useful with some rough single track roads. Hopefully someone will be able to assist you better.
  4. Hi Have a read through here. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/497136-mudflaps/?tab=comments#comment-5577942
  5. Wow I actually got a letter from Skoda as well as the on screen message. Letter states " A new version of the engine cover is not yet available. As soon as the new version is available your Skoda authorised repairer will contact you in order to refit the new version of the engine compartment cover." Hope that reassures those who have had them removed already.
  6. Thanks everybody, always good to get some practical advice. I have an extendable socket bar and a suitable torque wrench. I'm sure I can find a few bricks and wood as well. Good tip about the trolley jack needing to be able to move during the lift. Will buy a trolley jack as I have a small garage to store it in and a driveway. I think my biggest concerns where damaging the sill and would a trolley jack slowly deflate whilst I had the wheel off. From the replies, so long as the jack is in good working order that shouldn't be an issue so no need for stands and a rubber puck thingy should avoid damage.
  7. I got the message on the screen as well now. Still running the car in and only tend to use at weekends. Think I'll just check weekly and put off removing the cover until dealers have stock or I feel it's become loose.
  8. Thanks. Will definitely get some Wheel chucks. Do you think this Scissor Jack would be an improvement on the Skoda one. https://heynershop.co.uk/vehicles-service-repairs/877-ultra-lift-l-scissor-jack-2t-402822434702.html
  9. Thanks for reply. Yes that's a lot of winding with the supplied jack and why I thought the trolley jack would be good. It's just never having used one I wasn't sure if that's the best way to go. Also really concerned about potential damage by putting in wrong place. Would the Axle stands fit along side or have to go under the car at another point.? If I wanted to clean the wheels and put some sealant on the alloy insides would it be ok to leave the car raised on a jack or do i need to fit the spare or use an axle stand. Car could be 20 mins or so without the wheel. I think I need to look at the emergency jack profile and jacking point to get an idea of the protection required if I buy a trolley jack then.
  10. Hi I've got an Octavia vRS and I've never used a Trolley Jack or Axle Stands before. I can change a wheel and have fitted mud flaps but I'm no mechanic. I would like some advise on removing the Alloy Wheels occassionally, to rotate as recommended in the book and also to give a thorough clean a couple of time a year. Should I do both rears together i.e. raise back of car then repeat for the front? or Is it ok to take 1 wheel off at a time to clean, do I need axle stands or just use 1 or 2, 2 tonne trolley jacks or Scissor jack at the strengthened points on the sill where its indicated. Do I need one of the grooved rubber pucks if Jack comes with a rubber pad? As you can gather I'm really unsure on what to buy and how best to achieve this without damaging my car. I've read the earlier models were prone to sill seam damage is this still the case.? Any tips, do's and don'ts very much appreciated. What do you guys (and Gals) do? Thanks
  11. Thanks for the information. I Just checked my Reg on the Gov.recall link above and it says there is a recall on my vehicle ,didn't see anything on the Skoda link.. I purchased via a broker and don't have a nominated dealership. Is anybody likely to contact me about this? Should I register with a local dealer to get this and any future recalls? Thanks
  12. Sorry to hear you are having all these issues. I hope you get them addressed soon. I bought via a broker so don't have a dealer as such .Build date was December I think, only had car a month. I don't drive it during the week and haven't done any long trips so slightly anxious that there are lots of issues potentially to discover. I'll have to go to a dealer and ask if I can listen to another car for comparison. Also my previous car was 12 years old and basic in comparison so I'm a bit bewildered by all the tech and features at the moment. Since reading on here all the issues people have had/got I feel like I should be looking for problems rather than enjoying the car. I'll try the cruise control at some point before our summer holiday, to try and get some confidence in it. Haven't used the car enough to try out the heating or most things so fingers crossed. I have found the speed limiter - very useful with average speed cameras. Car does tell me to take foot of accelerator occasionally,I guess it knows the speed limits in some areas from gps. Have no idea how to use the SatNav. Please post back if you ever get an answer on this as will I.
  13. Update. The annoying high pitch noise turns on/off with the "Clima" button on the info screen.(blowers off A/C button off or on) Definitely not the blowers or vent settings. Sounds like its a pump turning on. This is without the engine running just the dash on etc. Please could anyone with a vRS confirm if they have this noise or if it should be silent.
  14. Thanks for the reply. Mines a new car as well and I first noticed it whilst just sitting in the car trying to get to grips with some of the settings etc. My first Skoda and new car in many years. I'm very sensitive to this sort of noise. Initially I think I turned off or set to minimum the climate control fans and thought it was just normal for the car. I have still only driven the car a few times and noticed it again last time I sat in the car. Tomorrow I will check more as it is there when you first switch on the car.I didn't notice when driving because of the artificial engine noise and the radio on.
  15. Hi I've got the same problem, did you solve it? I haven't checked all the vents yet but will tomorrow.
  16. Hi I'm new to Skoda and have just bought a new petrol vRS. I haven't had a new car for many many years. I don't use the car daily, so will probably only do up to 6,000 miles a year. Unless there's a major fault, because all this tech is so new to me and i'm not in the car all the time, how will I know if the car needs Software Updates.? I guess Skoda are not going to tell me voluntarily. Can I just go to a dealer and ask as it's with in warranty? Sorry if this is obvious to you all. Will they do all the updates at a service? Thanks
  17. Thanks a lot clearer than the enclosed instructions. Just got the mud flaps ready to fit one weekend. An expensive read as I just ordered a right angled drill (good excuse to add to the tool kit)
  18. Hello all. New Skoda Octavia vRS Petrol DSG owner here from West Midlands.UK First new car in 30 years and first Skoda.
