Car locked with key inside Beware
Yes I was surprised it allows this as the car should detect the key surely. i haven't tried again but if key is in a sports bag or jacket and you but in the boot out of sight then this obviously can happen. Definitely worth having the app as a back up or the spare key in your partners possession if you have a partner.

Car locked with key inside Beware
Hi All Just a quick warning to those with KESSY . I recently found myself locked out of my Octavia in Scotland, 400 miles from the spare key. I had transferred the fob from trouser pocket to fleece pocket and forgot this as I but fleece in the boot to go for a forest walk. Returned to the forest car park to find I was locked out - scary moment. Fortunately had a phone signal - Recovery say will have to activate airbags and damage to car likely. Try the App (sh!t I never activated the lock/unlock feature via the dealer) Best try a Locksmith. Long story short, amazing guy managed to "pick" lock with "master keys" took best part of an hour. No damage to car only my wallet.

Battery Problem?
EFB so no don't need to use AGM mode. Yes +ve to battery and -ve to bulkhead. Voltage after exiting car, engine off is 12.3v now.Im happy the charger is doing its job. Is the car alternator and management working correctly I don't know. Is the battery capacity compromised or is there a short/drain on the battery beyond what's normal again I don't know. Will definitely check if USB should be live or not with ignition off and try unpluging.

Battery Problem?
Thanks for replying. For clarity this first happened about 2 months ago and I put it down to a one off.Alarm chirping rather than horn blaring and neighbour said lights had been flashing earlier that day.Door and bonnet open checked voltage 11.8v.Fitted ctek Mx 5 smart charger normal car mode and charged to max. Start stop is active.Car used for one 40 mile trip and a couple of 4 mile trips then not used for about 17 -18 days not exactly sure. Last night wife says lights flashing so fitted charger and charged to max. Will check voltage later for reference with a fully charged battery and bonnet open. No dash cam but a usb wireless charger in place no phone on it obviously Sounds like I need it checking though

Battery Problem?
So could park at airport for 3 weeks and come back to a flat battery then. AGM any better in your experience? @Radiotwo Didn't check voltage after charging but car was good for at least a fortnight. This is only the 2nd time this has happened.Just means with winter coming I'll be charging the battery every fortnight

Battery Problem?
Hi have I got a battery or electrical fault do you think. Petrol Vrs 245 bought in Feb 2022.Built Dec.21 I don't use the car daily but periodically fit my Ctek charger and charge the battery to full. From a fully charged battery, after about 18 days of not being used the car starts flashing the hazard lights and then the alarm goes off. The Ctek has 3 leds lit when fitted and the voltage is 11.8V .I recharge to full and no more alarm or flashing lights. Surely a 1-2 year old battery should be ok for 3 or 4 weeks. Any thoughts please.

Pi$$ED OFF
Thankfully neither driver was hurt. I think most of us have been guilty at some point of a little impatience. As an ex motorcyclist the best advice I was even given was the "life-Saver" a last look over the shoulder before executing the manoeuvre. I still do this in the car out of habit especially on motorways before changing lane, would of stopped the Ferrari driver maybe pulling out. The other thing I was told it's better a bit late in this life than early to the next. Hope you get the car fixed quickly,I would be gutted if I pranged mine for sure.

Dash cam power
Hi Maxi24 Do you have any pics as you went along. What tools did you use,how easy to do without damage, where did you route and connect to,what model Dashcam. Thanks and sorry for all the questions I have never installed wiring in a car before and considering getting a Dashcam.

Delivery times?
The dealer is correct but not just the VRS and also others in VAG group. I just had another reminder letter from Skoda, as mine is firmly in place and not loose so it's staying until a new revised cover is available. To best of my knowledge there isn't a cover available yet. What did your dealer say about this.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
@varooomHi just back from holiday. Can I please ask for the update as well. Many thanks and great work here (Shame Skoda aren't this pro active). Came home to another recall letter for my engine cover,(they can wait), letter states no replacement available yet.

Dsg box
Guess I'm in the "stupid" club then. First Skoda, First car with stop/start,first car with DSG box and first car with Electronic parking brake and Auto-Hold. Sure I've been riding motor bikes and driving manual cars for 40 years but clearly need to learn how these automatics work. Always used neutral and hand-brake but assumed you could, YES, just but your foot on the brake until ready to move. Thanks. Appreciate all the advice always happy to learn.

Help with Android Auto Google Maps Sat Nav
Thanks. That's what i was sort of expecting but didn't see. Phone is Pixel 6.So I will look a little harder, as I saw the time/distance to destination but missed or didn't have a X. I only connected phone for sat nav and possible phone call, don't play music from phone. Was annoying the wife as sat nav kept nagging and I could only shut it up by muting audio or turning the phone off.

Help with Android Auto Google Maps Sat Nav
I connect wirelessly. If the phone is in range it keeps turning the Bluetooth connection back on after I tried to disconnect via the infotainment screen or my phone. When I got closer to home I knew where I was and didn't need the sat nav but struggled to end navigation. Also if I detour to a service station or supermarket I struggle to stop it trying to redirect me. As you gather I only use occasionally and don't know what I'm doing.

Help with Android Auto Google Maps Sat Nav
Hi all. Can any of you regular Sat-Nav users give me a few tips. I'm not regularly driving long distances or even every day.So I just drove from the West Mids to Yorkshire for a few days and used Google Maps. Going from A-B isn't a problem. Where I'm struggling is how to stop the navigation when it's no longer required or pause if I stop off on route.Phone is an Android Pixel. Also my phone keeps reconnecting to the car despite trying to turn off Bluetooth. I'm obviously missing something basic here or just plain stupid. Thanks

Virtual pedal.
I remember cleaning the rear bumper and underneath and the virtual pedal then working. However, despite me being convinced there was a visible sensor on the underside, I have just been out with a torch and can't see one, sorry. Videos seem to be central or just off center but maybe someone else knows for definite. Enjoy your new car.

Virtual pedal.
I found it very hit and miss as well. Seems to work sometimes and not others. Did find standing back a little helped or appeared to.Also ensure sensor is clean . I rarely bother now as getting a bit old for hopping on one leg.

OBD Eleven or Carly ??
Recently bought the ODBeleven with a few credits. Have just set the fake sound to 30% and the Lane assist to memory. These are 2 of the things that have bugged me since buying the car. A few days away in North Yorkshire coming up so will see if I like normal mode (default) for a change. Was easy to use for what I wanted.Register an account, set a pin no.,add credits via connected android phone app etc. I did a full backup which seemed to absolutely hammer the car battery even with a charger connected. Also did a scan and cleared lots of errors, didn't investigate as i will check again and see if any reappear. Not sure what else or how often I will use this as I know nothing about coding so only used the built in apps.

Anyone actually happy with their MK4? 😂
Hi SimonKent I am fairly sure you can set the hatch opening height. In manual Pg32.

Winter wheels
I assumed it could be a misprint and also assumed the dealer by which I mean the techs who service the cars would have correct value. I take your point though.(never assume)
-
Winter wheels
I used 120Nm dispite the manual stating 140Nm.I searched (googled) quite a lot and most Vag group cars Golf,Cupra Leon etc seemed to say 120Nm as did the wheel calculators.Correct answer is to contact your dealer I guess.

VRS TSI estate economy
Really depends on your driving style,E5 or E10 petrol and driving mode selected.Of course also how much is heavy traffic etc. I have found despite being more expensive the premium fuel does give better mpg.I don't have a regular commute anymore but took the car on a road trip recently. I got high 30's to mid 40's with a mix of spirited and careful driving.Short runs, heavy traffic and sports mode you can half those figures as you would expect. I would expect on a steady run with a large percentage of motorway/dual carriage way and using comfort mode 40 will be easy to achieve over 80 miles.
