Where can I get vcds for the best price? Have seen the dongles on eBay but then assume I have to pay for a license from RossTech.

Did you fit them? Pics would be great. Did the mid screw onto the back of the door card? Wondered how much space there was for the speaker magnet.

Have spoken with 3 local garages and they all say the valve cannot be done on its as they only change the whole compressor 😞 One said they cannot source the N280 part available either. Simon

Ongoing issue with my 2011 FL VRS TDi. When it works I get cold air but that can take a while to come through. No codes and been regassed with no leaks from the pressure test. Told compressor is working but only due to cold air coming out after they have left it on max and auto for a while. I only seem to get cold air when the engine is up to temperature. However, on very hot days when the car has been sitting out in the sun it can take over 20 mins to get cold air and even then the air fluctuates between cold and less cold air. It does the same even on cooler days. I have tried the reset - it’s the dual zone climate control - but still not working right. My gut feeling is it’s a flap or sensor issue as it can produce cold air but it isn’t consistent coming out of the vents. Any suggested process on how to diagnose this properly or how to test on vcds with the temp sensors? Garage can only suggest a new compressor but that seems an expensive long shot. They are a VAG specialist so hope I can ask them to run some tests and confirm 100% the real issue.

I’ve fitted a RCD330 with an external DAB adaptor connected into the aux in port. Works great and have the park pilot screen (can do camera if fitted). Also got a wireless CarPlay adaptor so completely wire free.

I used to but the drain seems minimal so I now leave it in but it has nothing connected to it

No unfortunately 😞 Need to wire it to a switched supply like the rear wiper.

I get cold air then warmer and colder again in a cycle. My VAG specialist checked it so I trust them more than the dealership or a general garage.

what is shown on VCDS if it has gone? mine doesn’t have any error codes and values look fine according to the garage.

Could do. I’ve fitted a single DIN Pioneer radio and it worked straight away. There was steering wheel box on eBay the other day for around £25.

Only advantage is it gives a switched power connection as well in the ISO power block. If yours isn’t powering on try swapping the wires first. Assume the original headunit worked fine.

Does the red and yellow wires need swapping? I have used a Connects2 steering wheel adapter and that worked straight away.

its the cutting putting me off as I can’t find spare door cards in leather. fabric ones can be as cheap as £15 from eBay.

If we could run new wires into the door can run it active from an external amp and DSP. Not sure of the door connectors have space to run new wires in or around the Molex around the rubber grommet.

I was thinking of this - do you have the mid already fitted? Seems the mountings are there to retro fit one but would need to be creative with the wiring look and take the signal before the 6”. I also thinking moving the tweeter to the sail panel would sound better than by the door pull.

I’ve just pulled the fuse as not fussed. Interestingly, was at the Skoda dealership today and they said there is an issue with the rear wiper and they need to order a new motor. They never checked the fuse!

Found a 16” space saver to use instead for the spare.

Interesting - not sure how to prove the Halfords mechanic wrong and get it done under warranty. Would it throw error codes?

I have now fitted a set of Mk7 Golf 16’s and the ride is more settled. Also the DSG feels quicker to engage and change gear. Maybe it’s just in the mind!
